AI Consulting Firms for Enterprise Scale: 10 Providers to Shortlist in 2026

There is no single, universally established ranking of the best AI consulting firms for every company. A practical 2026 shortlist is the ten providers named in Forrester’s Q2 2026 AI consulting services evaluation: Accenture, Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Capgemini, Deloitte, EY, IBM Consulting, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, and PwC. A separate 2025 Everest Group assessment identifies six Leaders and several Major Contenders, using a different evaluation and provider set.

Use the names below as candidates to investigate, not as a league table. The evidence supports who was included in those assessments and a small number of firm-specific examples; it does not establish comparable scores, fees, or a definitive winner. The right choice depends on your use case, delivery requirements, risk profile, and the team that will actually do the work.

How this shortlist was selected

Forrester’s searchable Q2 2026 result for Which AI Consulting Service Provider Is Best For You? identifies the ten providers listed here as its evaluated field. It does not provide a basis here for reproducing scores or naming a winner, so the firms are presented alphabetically rather than ranked.

Everest Group’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative AI Services PEAK Matrix Assessment 2025 offers a separate view of the market. It names Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, IBM Consulting, and TCS as Leaders, and includes BCG, EY, McKinsey, and PwC among Major Contenders. These are Everest’s assessment categories, not a universal ordering of firms. The report was accessed through provider-hosted copies, including an Accenture-licensed copy.

Everest says its assessment draws on a 2024 annual request-for-information process, provider interactions, client reference checks, and continuing market analysis. It also says evaluations of some secondary players—including BCG, Deloitte, EY, McKinsey, and PwC—did not include provider inputs and may be less complete. Treat the tiers as useful context, not a precise, like-for-like scorecard.

Ten AI consulting firms to consider

Accenture

Accenture appears in Forrester’s Q2 2026 evaluated set and Everest Group’s 2025 Leader tier. Those inclusions indicate that it was assessed in both sources; they do not establish that it is the best fit for a particular company or project.

Bain & Company

Bain is included in Forrester’s Q2 2026 evaluated set. The cited material does not provide enough firm-specific delivery evidence to support a comparison of Bain’s AI implementation strengths with the other firms on this list. Ask for references and examples tied to your industry and use case.

Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

BCG is in Forrester’s evaluated set and Everest Group’s Major Contenders category. BCG describes governance and operating practices for scaling AI. Its published biopharma case reports that clinical study report cycles fell from 17 weeks to 5 weeks, product quality reviews from 20 days to 1–3 days, and impact exceeded €40 million per initiative. These are BCG-reported results for a client example, not independently audited benchmarks; ask for the baseline, scope, and method behind any comparable proposal claim.

Capgemini

Capgemini appears in both Forrester’s evaluated set and Everest Group’s Leader tier. The assessments establish its inclusion, but do not tell a buyer whether its proposed team has the right domain knowledge, platform experience, or operating model for a specific engagement. Evaluate those details in the bid.

Deloitte

Deloitte is included in Forrester’s set and Everest Group’s Leader tier. Everest cautions that its Deloitte assessment did not include provider inputs and may be less complete, which limits how confidently that tier can be compared with firms assessed using fuller inputs.

EY

EY is in Forrester’s set and Everest Group’s Major Contenders category. EY’s case-study index describes examples involving AI governance and compliance, governed personalization, and Xylem’s enterprise AI platform. EY says that the Xylem work enabled 15,000 employees; treat that as a claim in EY’s case material and ask how enablement was defined and measured.

IBM Consulting

IBM Consulting is included in Forrester’s set and Everest Group’s Leader tier. IBM reports that it was a 2025 Star Performer in Everest’s assessment. Its official AI services description covers strategy, engineering, delivery, governance, and platform partnerships. These service descriptions can help frame a discussion, but the proposed scope and named delivery team matter more than a broad capability list.

KPMG

KPMG appears in Forrester’s Q2 2026 evaluated set. The cited evidence does not establish a firm-specific comparative advantage or provide detailed outcome examples for KPMG, so buyers should assess it using the same proposal, reference, and delivery questions applied to every bidder.

McKinsey & Company

McKinsey, including its QuantumBlack AI practice, appears in Forrester’s set and Everest Group’s Major Contenders category. McKinsey’s published case index includes examples in telecom, manufacturing, and employee AI coaching. Everest notes that its McKinsey assessment did not include provider inputs and may be less complete; ask McKinsey for directly relevant references and details of who would deliver the work.

PwC

PwC is in Forrester’s set and Everest Group’s Major Contenders category. Everest says its PwC assessment did not include provider inputs and may be less complete. The cited material does not establish a specific comparative advantage, so judge a proposed engagement on its scope, team, evidence, and commercial terms.

Other providers worth including in a broader process

Cognizant and TCS are not among the ten-provider Forrester set used for this shortlist, but Everest Group places both in its 2025 Leader tier. Their absence from Forrester’s named set is not evidence that they are inferior. Include them if their capabilities, delivery footprint, or experience match your requirements; compare them against the same criteria as the other bidders.

What “end-to-end AI services” should mean in a proposal

Everest’s assessment scope spans consulting and strategy, data preparation, model or agent development, testing, MLOps, LLMOps and AgentOps, and operationalization. A provider may describe itself as end-to-end while offering only some of those stages on your project. Require the proposal to identify what the firm will build, integrate, govern, operate, and hand over—and what remains your team’s responsibility.

  • Strategy and use-case definition: Which business process or decision is in scope, and what measurable outcome is the work expected to change?
  • Data and platforms: What data access, quality, infrastructure, and existing platform capabilities are assumed before work begins?
  • Build and integration: Will the team develop models or agents, connect them to enterprise systems, and test them in the workflows where they will be used?
  • Production operations: Who monitors quality and performance after launch, manages updates, handles incidents, and pays for continuing support?
  • Governance and human oversight: How will security, model risk, regulatory obligations, auditability, and human review be addressed for this use case?
  • Adoption and skills transfer: What training, documentation, and internal capability will remain with your organization when the engagement ends?

How to compare bids without relying on a league table

Everest identifies attractive pricing, reliable delivery, and expertise in emerging AI technologies as buyer considerations. The additional checks below are practical procurement questions, not a scorecard claimed to have been used by Forrester or Everest.

  1. Give each bidder the same use case and assumptions. Provide a common problem statement, data and platform context, expected users, constraints, and definition of success so proposals address comparable work.
  2. Compare delivery evidence, not just case-study headlines. Ask for references involving similar scale, sector, technical complexity, and regulatory needs. For each claimed result, request the starting baseline, time period, attribution, and whether the outcome was measured by the client or reported by the provider.
  3. Confirm the actual team and ownership. Identify the people who will lead, build, integrate, and govern the work; their expected involvement; subcontracted work; and the responsibilities your staff must take on.
  4. Make production support explicit. Specify deployment, testing, monitoring, incident response, updates, documentation, and skills transfer. Separate one-time implementation from ongoing work in the proposal.
  5. Normalize the commercial comparison. Ask every firm to state fees, assumptions, exclusions, milestones, dependencies, and ongoing support for the same scope. The cited assessments do not establish comparable current fees, so do not infer a price advantage from a tier or brand name.
  6. Agree on outcome measures and a recovery path. Define how success will be measured, when it will be reviewed, and what happens if a pilot misses its agreed outcome. Tie payment or scope decisions to milestones only where the contract makes those terms clear.

Questions to ask before selecting a partner

  • Who will actually staff the work, and how much time will those people commit?
  • What data, infrastructure, access, and internal expertise does the plan assume?
  • What will be deployed into production, and who will own and operate it afterward?
  • How will model or agent quality, security, governance, and human review be tested?
  • Can client references discuss comparable delivery and the results achieved?
  • How are fees tied to the agreed scope and milestones, and what costs continue after launch?
  • What changes if the pilot does not meet the agreed outcome?

What the available evidence can—and cannot—tell you

The two analyst sources provide different snapshots: Forrester’s Q2 2026 evaluated-provider set and Everest Group’s 2025 service-provider tiers. They support a credible pool of firms to investigate, but not a single ranking for every buyer. Published firm case studies add examples of work, not independently comparable proof that one provider will reproduce the result for another client.

For additional context, Everest Group’s report describes its assessment method; BCG, EY, IBM, and McKinsey publish their own service or case-study material. Those sources are useful starting points for diligence, but the decisive evidence for your purchase is a proposal with a clearly accountable team, comparable client references, production responsibilities, measurable outcomes, and transparent commercial assumptions.
