Kuljot Kaur says that since starting full-time work, afternoon naps, weekday outings, hobbies and even watching a film in one sitting have become harder to fit into her life. Her account, shared in a video on Instagram account @4am.contemplation, describes the change as a shift from everyday freedoms to luxuries.

What Kuljot Kaur said changed after she got a job

Hindustan Times reported on October 3, 2026, that Kaur described the earlier period as her “golden era,” when she was unemployed. In the video, she introduced the subject this way: “So today, we will talk about those things that were basic in life when I was unemployed, and now they have become a luxury ever since employment entered my life.”

Afternoon naps

Kaur said she no longer has time for an afternoon nap, calling it a luxury she had not expected to miss: “That afternoon nap is just not in my destiny anymore. I mean, it never felt like it would be such a luxury, but now I know.”

Friends and weekday outings

She said that she used to meet friends on weekdays but now struggles to meet them even on weekends. As she put it: “Earlier, I used to meet friends even on weekdays; now, I can’t even meet them on weekends.”

Shopping, hobbies and films

The report says Kaur also described weekday shopping, time for hobbies and watching films in one sitting as things that had become difficult after she began working full-time.

Energy after work

Kaur said she feels exhausted after 5 p.m. and contrasted that with the life she used to have in the evening: “After 5:00 pm in the evening, I used to have a life; now, I’m just exhausted.”

What the account does—and does not—establish

This is Kaur’s personal account, as reported by Hindustan Times, not a finding about workers generally. The outlet said the story was based on user-generated content, that it had not independently verified the claims, and that it had reached out to Kaur for comment. It also reported comments reacting to the video, including “This is painfully relatable”; those responses are anecdotes, not evidence of how common the experience is.
