The price makes the recommendation more tempting, too—but the deals reported in October 2026 are snapshots, not a promise of what you will pay today.
Why the Go 5 works as a shower speaker
In a TechRadar article published October 6, 2026, the writer said they had used the Go 5 mainly in the shower for three months, while also carrying it around the home. That first-person account is a useful indication of how the speaker fits into everyday use, rather than a claim that every unit or bathroom setup will behave identically.

JBL describes the Go 5 as IP68 waterproof and dust-proof, and says it has drop-proof construction. Those protections make it a sensible candidate for listening in wet settings, but they do not mean it is immune to damage or establish every possible exposure condition. Follow JBL’s care and use guidance, and avoid treating a protection rating as a guarantee against mishaps.

JBL lists the Go 5 at 10.1 × 7.74 × 4.3 cm and 0.23 kg. That compact footprint is well suited to moving between the bathroom and other rooms, or packing for a trip. JBL specifies 4.8 W RMS output: a figure that describes its rated output, not a promise of a particular loudness in every room.

Battery life, charging and connections
JBL lists Bluetooth 6.0 and USB-C input. Its stated maximum music playback is up to eight hours; JBL advertises up to 10 hours when Playtime Boost is used. Treat the longer figure as conditional, not the standard playback claim. Actual runtime can vary with how the speaker is used.
JBL says a USB cable is not included. Check the box contents before buying if you need a charging cable, and make sure you have a compatible USB-C cable available.

What the price cut means
Prices differ by seller and date. JBL’s US product page displayed $39.95, reduced from $54.95, when retrieved in 2026. TechRadar reported an Amazon offer of $29.95, down from $39.95, in its October 6, 2026 article. The Amazon figure is a reported deal, not a current price guarantee; check the live listing, seller and stock before purchasing.
TechRadar’s May 13, 2026 review described the Go 5 as an April 2026 release with a US list price of $54.95. That provides launch-price context, but the value of a deal depends on the price available to you now.

Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere
Choose the Go 5 if portability, shower-friendly protection and convenient listening around the home matter more than room-filling sound or long battery life. Its listed 4.8 W RMS output and eight-hour maximum playback make it a compact everyday option, not a substitute for a larger speaker when you need substantially more output or endurance.
JBL identifies the Flip 7 as a more powerful sibling, but the available information does not establish a controlled, like-for-like comparison. If you are deciding between them, compare current specifications and prices for your needs rather than assuming the Go 5 delivers the same scale of sound.
