There is no single best Intelligence build: a damage dealer, tank, and support may need different stat profiles. The latest located progression change, update 1.198, added Mythic T5 and changed upgrade materials; check the live game for any later changes.
How Intelligence gear works
AFK Arena sorts gear into Strength, Agility, and Intelligence classes. Intelligence gear covers four slots: hand, head, body, and feet. A hero’s Intelligence classification tells you which gear class to consider, not which stats or investment level suit every hero in that class.

Older item lists can help identify the class terminology, but they are not a complete current catalogue. For example, the BlueStacks guide describes gear through Mythic Tier 3, before the later T5 update. Evaluate each piece against the hero and the situation in which you use them. A class match is only the starting point.

- Confirm class and slot. Make sure the item is Intelligence gear and fits the intended hand, head, body, or foot slot.
- Check faction alignment. Where the item and tier provide a faction bonus, a matching faction can increase the bonus. Verify the benefit shown in the game, especially if the item is resonating.
- Read the attributes. Compare the item’s actual stat lines with what the hero needs: damage, survival, or a support-oriented profile. Do not assume every Intelligence hero benefits most from the same attributes.
- Match the hero’s role and use. Consider the hero’s job in your team and the game mode or lineup you are preparing. Role descriptions and gear advice are separate considerations; one does not determine the other. See AFK.Guide’s hero roles reference.
- Account for tier and item state. Check the tier, enhancement level, any hero-exclusive attributes, whether resonance applies, and which materials an upgrade would consume.
If two pieces compete for the same slot, compare those factors side by side. A faction match may matter, but it does not automatically outweigh more relevant attributes, a useful hero-exclusive bonus, or the opportunity cost of spending materials on another piece.
Gear Resonance: what it changes
Gear Resonance, found in the Library, can raise eligible low Combat Rating gear to the account’s resonance tier. Its bonuses depend on the tier rules. AFK.Guide’s published mechanics predate T4 and T5 resonance, so use them as guidance for the earlier tiers and inspect the live interface for current behavior at higher tiers.

- Mythic T2 or below: AFK.Guide says resonating low gear receives faction bonuses, but not enhancements.
- Mythic T3 or above: The guide says low gear receives neither faction bonuses nor enhancements. Original gear that has reached Mythic T3 retains its hero-exclusive bonus attributes.
- While gear is resonating: The guide says it cannot be enhanced, upgraded, or reset.
Those rules come from AFK.Guide’s Gear Resonance overview. The later update added T4/T5 Gear Resonance, so check the current in-game resonance screen before committing gear or materials.

What changed in update 1.198
AFK Global Team’s Update 1.198 Patch Notes, posted July 13, 2026, say the update was released July 14, 2026. The notes describe these gear changes:

- Older T1–T4 upgrade stones remain in the backpack and can be exchanged through Material Swap. The screen displays the amounts before you confirm.
These are the latest located patch details, not a guarantee that no later patch has changed the system. Check subsequent in-game notes and the upgrade or swap screens before spending scarce materials.
Which gear should you upgrade first?
There is no verified universal ranking for all Intelligence heroes. A practical rule is to spend on the hero and piece that best advances your current team, then reassess before using the same materials elsewhere.

- Identify your current priority hero. Older Guild Store advice recommends gearing a carry first, followed by other core heroes, then tanks and supports. Treat that order as a broad historical rule of thumb, not a current rule for every roster or mode.
- Choose the best candidate piece. Prefer a correct-class, correct-slot item whose attributes and faction benefits support the hero’s job. Consider any hero-exclusive attributes and whether resonance changes the bonuses.
- Check the full material cost and item state. Confirm whether the piece is eligible for the desired upgrade and whether it is resonating; resonating gear may be restricted from upgrades under the applicable rules.
- Compare the opportunity cost. Ask whether spending on this piece is more useful now than improving another core hero’s gear. Avoid upgrading solely because an item is available or has a higher tier label.
- Confirm the current requirements in game. Upgrade materials and access rules have changed over time; use the live interface and current patch notes for the exact requirement.
AFK.Guide has an older gear upgrade priority guide. Its tier recommendations may help explain earlier progression, but should not override the current costs, resonance rules, and choices shown in your game.

An older AFK Global beginner guide lists Mythic gear in the Guild Store from Chapter 12-1, Mythic gear from AFK drops at 16-11, Tier 1 at 21-1, and Tier 2 at 26-1. It also recommends buying for a carry before gearing other main heroes, with chapter-dependent advice about faction-specific gear. The guide is historical, and its thresholds, prices, and economy details are not verified as current.
