Eluard – Protector of Souls is an original Lightbearer mage in AFK Arena whose kit combines area damage with shields and protection for the ally positioned farthest forward. His shield can also become a damage resource, but his recitations can be interrupted and a broken shield leaves him stunned. The BlueStacks guide’s +30 Signature Item recommendation and named team pairings are historical advice, not a guarantee of current value.
Who is Eluard – Protector of Souls?
Eluard is an Ascended Lightbearer mage. Although his attacks deal area damage, his shields and ability to protect a forward ally give him a mage-support hybrid role. The original character’s title is “Protector of Souls.”

Version 1.58 patch notes say the new Lightbearer Eluard was added and list a test-play time of February 26, 2021, at 01:00 local test-server time. The notes are dated March 1, 2021; that test-server time should not be read as a global release timestamp. Read the version 1.58 patch notes.

Sanctimony: shield or area damage
Sanctimony creates a Divine Shield equal to 180% of Eluard’s maximum health if he does not already have one. If he already has a Divine Shield, he consumes it and deals damage to all enemies equal to 20% of the consumed shield’s value, capped at 500% of his Attack Rating. The character database lists the shield scaling increasing to 220% and then 260% at specified skill levels. This makes the shield both protection and a potential damage resource, but using the damage effect means giving up that shield.

Divine Miracle: a second shield, with a dangerous break
At battle start, Divine Miracle gives Eluard a shield equal to 150% of his maximum health. When that shield breaks, Eluard is stunned for eight seconds; once the stun ends, he creates a replacement shield equal to 150% of his maximum health. Higher skill levels reduce the damage he receives while unshielded and shorten the stun to five seconds. The break therefore creates a vulnerable interval rather than an uninterrupted cycle of protection.
Prayer of Protection: immunity for the forward ally
Eluard recites scripture to make the ally farthest forward immune to all damage. The recitation can be interrupted. One upgrade extends the immunity for three seconds after recitation ends or is interrupted; another removes most debuffs from the protected ally when the recitation begins.

Judgment: recitation followed by area damage
After reciting, Eluard deals 220% damage to all enemies. For each allied hero an enemy has slain, Judgment deals an additional 50% damage against that enemy. The recitation can be interrupted, and higher skill levels increase the damage and later list an 80%-per-ally-slay effect.

What does Golden Visage add?
Golden Visage, Eluard’s Signature Item, gives a shield to the ally farthest forward other than Eluard. At +30, the database lists a shield equal to 100% of that ally’s maximum health and a 40% Attack Rating increase while the shield exists. At +40, it also shields the ally with the highest initial Attack Rating.
Furniture adds effects to Prayer of Protection: at 3/9, its damage immunity also applies to Eluard; at 9/9, after Eluard first uses Sanctimony, his next Prayer extends immunity to all allies. These are in-game progression effects, and their resource cost should be weighed against the needs of a particular account and mode.

Are the old team and +30 recommendations still current?
The BlueStacks guide recommends taking Golden Visage to +30, describes Eluard as a possible counter to Ainz Ooal Gown, and names Athalia as an offensive pairing after +30. It also suggests Hendrik to cover Eluard when his shield is down and Gorvo as another shield-heavy partner. Treat these as recommendations from that guide, not current best-in-slot conclusions.

Is Awakened Eluard the same hero?
No. Eluard – Catalyst of Fate is a separate Awakened character, introduced in version 1.196 patch notes in June 2026. AFK Global lists that character as a Lightbearer mage focused on burst damage, with a distinct kit. The shield skills and team suggestions discussed above concern the original Protector of Souls; they should not be carried over to Catalyst of Fate.

What is Eluard’s in-game story?
In the fictional lore, Eluard was a devout believer who could not perceive the Divine Light. During a heresy ceremony in M’Arjie, he intervened but saw the Divine Light of Judgement too late to save the girl. He later became an Oracle of the Heretic Inquisition. An uncredited line in the game text reads: “Those that do not follow the light, give themselves to the dark.”
Playing AFK Arena on a PC
The BlueStacks guide also discusses playing AFK Arena on Windows PC and Mac through its emulator. That is a separate platform question from whether Eluard fits a team; emulator availability does not establish anything about the hero’s current strength.
