To get an Afghan IP address, use a VPN that currently lists Afghanistan or Kabul, connect to that location, then verify the public IP with an independent geolocation service. The country label alone is not proof that the VPN machine is physically in Afghanistan: Proton VPN documents its Afghanistan option as Smart Routing through London. Treat the connection as an Afghan-looking IP, not automatically as a physically Afghan network.
Availability changes, and no provider in the available evidence was independently tested for speed, privacy, service access, or geolocation accuracy. The safest workflow is to confirm the location in the provider’s current app, connect, and check the resulting IP before relying on it.

What an Afghan VPN connection actually provides
A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the provider’s server, then presents the server’s public IP address to websites. If that address is assigned to Afghanistan in commercial geolocation databases, sites may classify your session as Afghan. This is the practical meaning of “how to get an Afghan IP address” or “how to get an Afghanistan IP address.”
Recommended Free Tools
That country classification does not establish the server’s physical location. Proton’s support documentation says that, for some country choices, it uses servers physically located elsewhere and routes traffic so that the exit IP is associated with the requested country. Its Afghanistan location is specifically described as Smart Routing through London; the provider’s location page displays one Afghan city and five servers, but those should not be described as five physical servers in Afghanistan. See Proton’s Smart Routing explanation and its server-location page.

IP geolocation is also separate from service acceptance. A bank, government portal, streaming platform, or website can use its own VPN detection, account history, identity checks, or regional licensing rules. An Afghan-looking IP may therefore be insufficient, and a VPN cannot lawfully bypass access controls or licensing restrictions.
Afghanistan VPN options identified for 2026
The table separates what each cited page actually establishes from what remains unverified. “Afghanistan,” “Kabul,” or “one city” is a selectable or advertised location, not proof of physical hosting or guaranteed access to a particular service.
| Provider | Evidence available | What is not established | Best use of the evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN | Official support documentation lists Afghanistan as a Smart Routing location routed through London. Its location page displays Afghanistan with one city and five servers. | The five displayed servers are not five physical Afghan servers. No independent speed, IP, privacy, or service test was conducted. | The clearest choice when you want a documented explanation of how the Afghanistan endpoint is implemented. |
| IceVPN | Its location page lists Kabul as a Pro location: IceVPN’s Afghanistan location page. | The page does not explain physical hosting or independently demonstrate that the assigned IP geolocates to Afghanistan. | A candidate to check in the current app, followed by an external IP-geolocation check. |
| CometVPN | Its marketing page advertises Kabul and describes Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows apps. It instructs users to subscribe, install the app, and select Kabul: CometVPN’s Kabul page. | Claims about real Kabul IPs, speed, privacy, and no logs are vendor claims here; they were not independently tested. | Consider only after confirming that Kabul is selectable in the current application and that the resulting IP geolocates as expected. |
| HideMyAss and PureVPN | A Cloudwards guide updated September 8, 2026 lists both alongside Proton VPN as Afghan-IP options: Cloudwards’ Afghan-IP guide. | The cited evidence is secondary editorial coverage, not current official provider confirmation in the material reviewed. | Use the list as a lead, then verify each provider’s own current location documentation before subscribing. |
| Private Internet Access | Its October 1, 2026 support article says the service offers locations in 104 countries and shows a published list: PIA’s location list. | Afghanistan is absent from the displayed list. The article advises checking the app for the most current account and device list, so the published omission is not a prediction about every future app version. | Do not assume an Afghan endpoint from the 104-country figure; check the app directly. |
There is no reliable evidence here for a market-wide ranking, Afghan VPN usage statistic, or guaranteed “best” provider. A sensible choice depends first on whether Afghanistan is explicitly selectable now, then on endpoint disclosure and your own IP check.

- Confirm the endpoint before paying. Open the provider’s current server list or app and look for Afghanistan, Afghan, or Kabul. If the provider describes Smart Routing or a virtual location, note the disclosed physical routing country. A location page that merely uses a flag or city name does not answer that question.
- Check device and account requirements. Download the provider’s application from its official website or the relevant app store. Confirm that your operating system is supported, create an account if required, and review the current plan terms. Prices, trial allowances, simultaneous-device limits, and endpoint availability are volatile and are not specified in the cited evidence, so do not rely on an old price or an archived offer.
- Install and sign in. Complete the normal installer, open the app, and sign in. Avoid unofficial APK mirrors or “free VPN” apps that do not identify an operator; an app title or country flag is not evidence that it supplies an Afghan IP.
- Select Afghanistan or Kabul. Use the app’s location search rather than an automatically selected “fastest” server. If the app shows multiple Afghan entries, record the city and server label you selected so you can repeat the check or switch if one endpoint fails.
- Connect and wait for confirmation. The app should show a connected state, a timer, or a changed virtual location. Keep the VPN connected while checking the IP; closing the app or using split tunneling can leave the relevant browser or application outside the tunnel.
- Verify the public IP. Visit a reputable, independent IP-geolocation lookup and record the displayed country, city, ISP or hosting network, and IPv4/IPv6 addresses. The result should identify Afghanistan if that is the goal. Check both address families if your device has IPv6, because an IPv6 leak can expose a non-Afghan connection while IPv4 appears Afghan.
- Test the intended website cautiously. Open the service only after the IP check. If it still reports your original country, rejects the connection, or asks for additional verification, that is a service-level decision rather than proof that the VPN failed. Do not assume that changing servers will defeat a provider’s regional or security controls.
- Disconnect and compare. Turn the VPN off and repeat the IP check. The address should return to your ordinary connection. If it does not, restart the VPN application, inspect system proxy settings, and check for a browser or operating-system secure-DNS configuration that is retaining a separate route.
Physical Afghan servers versus virtual or Smart Routing locations
Ask two different questions: “Does the exit IP geolocate to Afghanistan?” and “Is the hardware physically in Afghanistan?” A provider can satisfy the first without satisfying the second. Proton explicitly says that some country locations use servers located elsewhere; its Afghan route is documented as London-based Smart Routing. That may offer an Afghan IP classification while the network path, latency, legal jurisdiction, and physical infrastructure remain tied to London.

Virtual locations are not automatically defective. They can be the only practical way to offer a country label where local hosting is limited. They can, however, matter if your requirement is physical data residency, low latency to Afghanistan, or a local network operator. Ask the provider for a current explanation before treating a country selector as evidence of in-country equipment.
Do not infer physical hosting from a city name, a flag, a “local IP” marketing phrase, or a server count. The five Afghanistan servers shown on Proton’s location page describe entries in its service, while its support page supplies the separate London-routing qualification.
How to choose between the listed options
Start with explicit Afghanistan selection
Reject any service that only promises “Asian” or “nearby” coverage when your requirement is an Afghan IP. Afghanistan or Kabul should appear in the current app or an official location list. For providers supported only by a secondary article, confirm the location on the provider’s own documentation before entering payment details.
Prefer transparent endpoint descriptions
When two services both list Kabul, favor the one that explains whether the location is physical, virtual, or Smart Routed. Proton’s London disclosure is stronger evidence than an unqualified city label. Transparency does not guarantee speed or access, but it lets you understand what you are buying.

Match the app to your device
CometVPN’s cited page describes Android, iOS, Mac, and Windows applications. Other providers may support different platforms or require manual configuration. Verify the exact operating system, browser, router, and simultaneous-device support in the current account documentation rather than relying on a generic platform badge.
Use independent IP confirmation as a go/no-go test
An endpoint that cannot produce an Afghan-geolocated public IP in your check is not meeting this particular objective, regardless of its marketing copy. Run the check at the time and on the device where you need the address. Geolocation databases disagree, and they can lag behind an IP reassignment, so a second reputable lookup can help resolve an unusual result.
Separate privacy claims from location claims
An Afghan endpoint says nothing by itself about logging, encryption quality, jurisdiction, malware protection, or advertising practices. Treat “no logs,” “real Kabul IP,” and similar statements on provider marketing pages as claims requiring your own review of the current privacy policy and technical documentation. The available material does not independently verify those claims for IceVPN or CometVPN.

Afghanistan is missing from the app
Sign out and update the application, then check the account’s location list rather than an old web page. Some providers expose different endpoints by device or plan. If Afghanistan remains absent, do not substitute a nearby country and assume it will satisfy an Afghan-IP requirement. Private Internet Access’s October 1, 2026 article illustrates why: Afghanistan is not in its displayed 104-country list, while the article still directs users to check the app for the latest list.

The app says Kabul, but the lookup shows another country
Disconnect and reconnect, try another listed Afghan endpoint, and check again after clearing the browser’s cached location result. Verify IPv4 and IPv6 separately. If every endpoint resolves elsewhere, capture the IP and provider name and ask support whether the location is virtual, recently reassigned, or restricted to a particular plan. Do not describe the endpoint as Afghan until the public address actually geolocates that way.
The website still identifies you as foreign
Confirm that the browser or application is using the VPN tunnel, disable split tunneling for that app, and check for DNS, WebRTC, or IPv6 leaks. Then retry in a private window after signing out of the service. If the service still rejects the connection, it may be using VPN-block lists, account-country data, GPS, payment information, or other signals. A VPN does not guarantee acceptance by a named service, and no service-level tests were conducted for this guide.
The connection is slow or unstable
Latency can be affected by a virtual route, the physical transit country, congestion, and distance from you to the routing server. Try another Afghan entry if available, use a wired or stable Wi-Fi connection, and compare with the provider’s nearest ordinary location to identify whether the issue is endpoint-specific. There is no tested speed benchmark for the options listed here, so avoid treating an advertised speed as a measured result.

A free app cannot show a working endpoint
Remove apps that do not identify their operator or current server list. A September 4, 2026 Google Play review for an app titled “Afghanistan VPN – Get Asian IP” reported that no Afghan server appeared in the app. That is one user’s report, not an audit, but it demonstrates why an app title and flag are not proof of endpoint availability. Check the actual connection and public IP instead.

- Improved Battery Life: Target Wake Time helps your devices to communicate efficiently while consuming less power.
- Improved Cooling Design: No heat ups, no throttles. A larger heat sink and redefined case design cools the WiFi 6 system and enables your network to stay at top speeds in more versatile environments.
Privacy, security, and legal considerations
- Use official downloads. Obtain the application from the provider’s official site or a recognized app store, keep it updated, and review requested permissions. A VPN provider can see metadata associated with your connection even though the tunnel encrypts traffic on the local network.
- Read the current privacy policy. Check what connection timestamps, bandwidth data, diagnostic logs, payment information, and account identifiers are retained, where the company is incorporated, and how legal requests are handled. A country endpoint does not change those policies.
- Protect account security. Use a unique password and multifactor authentication when offered. Do not send passwords or identity documents to an unfamiliar “server activation” page.
- Understand regional law. VPN use and access to particular content can be regulated differently by your country, Afghanistan, your employer, or the service you are accessing. You remain responsible for complying with applicable law and contractual terms.
- Do not rely on the VPN for anonymity. Browser fingerprints, cookies, logged-in accounts, GPS, payment records, and device identifiers can still link activity to you. An Afghan IP is a location signal, not a complete identity shield.
What the available evidence can and cannot establish
The strongest documented fact is Proton’s explanation that its Afghanistan location uses Smart Routing through London. IceVPN lists Kabul as a Pro location, and CometVPN advertises Kabul with apps for four major platforms, but those pages do not independently establish physical hosting or a working Afghan-geolocated IP. Cloudwards’ September 8, 2026 guide names HideMyAss and PureVPN as options, yet that is secondary coverage and should be checked against current official documentation. Private Internet Access’ October 1, 2026 support page displays 104 countries without Afghanistan in the shown list and tells readers to consult the app for the latest account and device availability.
No endpoint was connected and tested for this article. Consequently, there are no defensible claims here about download speed, latency, uptime, streaming access, banking or government portals, privacy audits, logging behavior, or affiliate availability. Verify those properties independently if they are important to your use case, and recheck the provider pages immediately before subscribing because plans, apps, locations, and prices can change.
Quick decision checklist
- Afghanistan or Kabul is visible in the current app, not just in an old article.
- The provider explains whether the location is physical, virtual, or Smart Routed.
- Your operating system and account plan support the endpoint.
- You downloaded the app from an official source and reviewed its permissions.
- The connected public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses geolocate to Afghanistan in an independent lookup.
- DNS, WebRTC, IPv6, and split-tunnel settings do not expose another route.
- You understand that a website may still block or challenge the connection.
- You have checked the provider’s current privacy policy and the laws and terms that apply to your use.
The Bottom Line
For the clearest documented route, Proton VPN currently lists Afghanistan as a Smart Routing location through London. IceVPN and CometVPN advertise Kabul, while other candidates require current verification. Whichever service you choose, connect first, verify the public IP independently, and treat Afghan geolocation as a possibility—not a guarantee of physical Afghan hosting or access to any particular website.
