Adobe Rebuilt Photoshop and Premiere for NVIDIA’s RTX Spark Platform

Adobe and NVIDIA say key parts of Photoshop and Premiere are being rearchitected for NVIDIA’s RTX Spark platform, rather than merely receiving generic GPU support. The companies claim up to 2× faster AI processing, editing, color and effects, but no independent benchmark or test method has been published with that figure.

What Adobe changed for RTX Spark

Adobe’s October 15, 2026 announcement describes optimization work across Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D for RTX Spark systems. NVIDIA had outlined the project in May, describing Photoshop and Premiere as being rearchitected “from the ground up.” That wording matters: the work targets application internals and data paths designed around RTX Spark’s hardware, not just a new compatibility label.

Photoshop: GPU-accelerated compositing

Photoshop’s redesign centers on GPU-accelerated compositing. Adobe specifically calls out live, on-canvas operations including Remove Tool, Gaussian Blur and Light Leaks. The stated goal is a more responsive canvas while using HDR, filters and newer oil and watercolor brush effects. The announcement does not provide frame-time measurements, supported document sizes or a complete list of tools that use the new architecture.

Premiere: a new video pipeline

Adobe’s May 31 technical overview says Premiere is receiving a video pipeline built around RTX Spark’s unified memory, Blackwell GPU and TensorRT. Adobe says the design is intended to improve real-time playback and color correction, accelerate rendering of complex timelines and move more AI tools onto the GPU. Those are design targets; the published material does not establish how much faster a particular codec, resolution, effect stack or export will run.

Substance 3D is included too

Substance 3D is part of the same optimization announcement, although Adobe has supplied fewer product-specific technical details for it than for Photoshop and Premiere.

How much faster is RTX Spark in Adobe apps?

Adobe and NVIDIA’s headline claim is “up to 2× faster” AI processing, editing, color and effects. It is an official vendor claim, not an independently measured result. The announcement does not identify a baseline computer, application build, project, codec, effect set, power mode or test procedure, so the figure cannot be used as a guaranteed gain for every workflow.

“Up to” also describes a best-case ceiling rather than an average improvement. Performance will depend on the Creative Cloud version, the task being measured and whether that task is limited by GPU compute, memory capacity, storage, CPU work or media decoding. Until repeatable third-party tests are available, treat 2× as a target for RTX Spark-optimized workloads rather than a purchase promise.

What RTX Spark hardware provides

NVIDIA describes RTX Spark systems as Windows 11 laptops and small desktops that combine a Grace CPU, a Blackwell RTX GPU and unified LPDDR5X memory. Listed configurations span 18- or 20-core CPUs, 5,120- or 6,144-core GPUs and as much as 128 GB of memory. NVIDIA identifies the 20-core Grace CPU and 6,144 CUDA-core Blackwell GPU as the high-end configuration.

RTX Spark characteristic Published information Why it matters in Adobe workflows
CPU 18 or 20 Grace CPU cores CPU-heavy tasks such as parts of decoding, encoding and application processing may benefit, but no task-level measurements are supplied.
GPU 5,120 or 6,144 Blackwell GPU cores Relevant to GPU effects, compositing, color work and AI acceleration; the larger configuration is the one NVIDIA lists with 6,144 CUDA cores.
Memory Up to 128 GB unified LPDDR5X CPU and GPU share the same memory pool, which can reduce data movement for supported operations and gives high-end systems substantial capacity for large projects.
Operating system and form factors Windows 11 laptops and compact desktops You can choose mobility or a small fixed workstation, but display, ports, storage and cooling still vary by model.

Unified memory is a key reason Adobe is changing its pipelines. In Premiere, the stated architecture keeps video data closer to the Grace CPU, Blackwell GPU and TensorRT components that process it. In Photoshop, the focus is on keeping compositing and canvas operations GPU-accelerated. These benefits apply only where the application and operation use the optimized paths.

When RTX Spark Adobe systems become available

ASUS announced global preorders for its ProArt P16 and P14 RTX Spark laptops and the compact ProArt GR1X mini PC on October 8, 2026. ASUS said the first U.S. laptop units were scheduled to arrive on October 16, 2026. Pricing, preorder windows and retail stock can differ by product and country, so a U.S. arrival date should not be read as a worldwide release date.

  • Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
  • Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
  • 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
  • Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads

Adobe’s May announcement said Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D updates were expected to begin rolling out later in 2026. The October announcement confirms the optimization work but does not set one universal release date or publish a complete compatibility matrix. Check the application version offered in your market before assuming that a newly purchased system includes every RTX Spark optimization.

Which RTX Spark system fits a Creative Cloud workflow?

The available information does not establish a single best model. Choose by the constraints of your work rather than by the 2× headline:

  • Choose a laptop if you need an integrated display and portability. Compare the P14 and P16 for screen size, weight, battery behavior, ports and storage configuration; those model-specific values and prices are not stated in the announcements.
  • Choose the GR1X mini PC if you want a compact stationary system and already have a suitable monitor, keyboard and storage. Confirm the exact memory, GPU, storage and port configuration of the regional SKU.
  • Prioritize memory capacity for large Photoshop documents, high-resolution footage and multitasking. RTX Spark listings reach 128 GB unified memory, but not every model necessarily uses the maximum.
  • Verify media connectivity before buying. Editors should check the number and speed of ports, external-display support and the storage options for their camera cards and scratch media.
  • Match the software build to the hardware. Confirm the Photoshop or Premiere version that contains RTX Spark-specific changes and whether your region receives that build.

What to verify before relying on the redesign

  1. Identify the exact RTX Spark model and its CPU, GPU, unified-memory and storage configuration.
  2. Install or check the current Windows 11 and Creative Cloud versions available for your market.
  3. Look for Adobe’s RTX Spark compatibility information and release notes for the specific application version.
  4. Test a representative project: the same Photoshop document, Premiere timeline, footage, effects and export settings you use professionally.
  5. Compare playback, canvas responsiveness and export time with your current system; do not substitute the vendor’s “up to 2×” claim for a workload-specific measurement.

What is known—and what is not

The strategic change is clear: Adobe is designing Photoshop and Premiere around RTX Spark’s unified memory, Blackwell graphics and TensorRT capabilities. The practical size of the improvement is not yet established publicly. No independent performance study or third-party benchmark accompanies the cited announcements, and Adobe has not published a complete compatibility matrix or one release date covering every market. Buyers should therefore evaluate the exact hardware and software combination available to them, then validate it with their own projects.
