adidas Originals and Vans both have documented histories of band collaborations, but the examples point to different footwear identities—not to which brand is more likely to partner with a new band. adidas’ 2023 KoRn collection paired Campus 00s and Supermodified sneakers with apparel, while Vans has published a broader history of band footwear collaborations, including Metallica, Motörhead, Millencolin, No Doubt and Iron Maiden. For a band or merch planner, the useful comparison is precedent, silhouette, the scope of a collection and availability—not assumed access to a partnership program.
What the documented collaborations show
Official releases establish that both brands have worked with bands. They do not establish that either brand is accepting proposals now, or how likely it is to approve a new one.

The evidence supports comparing prior releases and product fit. It does not support ranking either brand as categorically better, or predicting which would take a new band’s pitch.
Which brand’s footwear identity fits the band?
Consider adidas Originals for a fit with the documented KoRn shapes
The KoRn release used the Campus 00s and Supermodified. If those silhouettes and adidas Originals’ visual identity make sense for the band’s audience and artwork, the collection is a relevant precedent. It is an example of a collaboration—not evidence that adidas offers a standard route for outside bands to submit ideas.

Consider Vans for a fit with the documented band-shoe examples
Vans’ published history features multiple band collaborations, and the Metallica release included both the Sk8-Hi Reissue and Classic Slip-On. A planner can compare those shapes and the brand’s established band-collaboration identity against the look the band wants. A longer list of historical examples still does not prove that Vans is more accessible to a prospective partner.
In either case, start with the visual and audience fit, then assess the whole collection. A recognizable shoe alone does not determine whether a collaboration’s apparel, accessories or overall design would suit the band.

Compare the merchandise, not just the sneaker
The documented collections were broader than footwear: KoRn’s adidas release included T-shirts, a hoodie and tracksuits, while the Metallica-Vans announcement included a T-shirt and trucker hat. Those examples show why bands should define the intended scope before evaluating a brand: the goal might be a shoe-led drop, a coordinated apparel collection or a mix.

Check current availability separately from collaboration history
adidas’ official US KoRn collection page labels the collection sold out. That describes the status shown on that page, not necessarily inventory at resellers or other marketplaces. No current marketplace stock, price, seller authenticity or shipping availability is established here.
If you are looking for the past release, useful product-name searches include adidas Originals x KoRn Supermodified shoes and adidas Originals x KoRn Campus 00s shoes. Treat search results as leads to verify: check the seller, condition, shipping location and return terms rather than assuming a listing is official or in stock.

How a band should assess a possible collaboration
- Choose the footwear identity. Compare the band’s audience and artwork with the named silhouettes in past releases: Campus 00s or Supermodified for the cited adidas-KoRn collection, and Sk8-Hi Reissue or Classic Slip-On for the cited Vans-Metallica release.
- Specify the collection scope. Decide whether the proposal is for shoes alone or also apparel and accessories; past examples show mixed collections, but do not guarantee those options in a future deal.
- Verify access and terms with the brand. The cited official material does not provide a current application process, eligibility rules or acceptance odds for either adidas Originals or Vans. Do not assume an open submissions program; contact the companies through their official channels to confirm whether they consider proposals and what information they require.
- Separate precedent from availability. Historical collaboration pages establish that a release existed, not that it remains available at retail or that a similar release can be commissioned now.
What about Nike and other sneaker brands?
The official NIKE, Inc. collaborations index covers collaboration activity across Nike, Converse and Jordan, but the cited material does not establish a comparable band-footwear example. It is therefore not enough to rank those brands against adidas Originals or Vans for this specific decision. A fair comparison needs documented band releases and relevant product details, rather than a general collaborations page.
