The Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 5 is a premium road-racing shoe built for long-distance efforts, especially half marathons and marathons. Its carbon-infused ENERGYRIM replaces the Pro 4’s EnergyRods, while LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam and a snug, tapered fit shape the experience. It is a plausible race-day choice if you want a smooth, softer-feeling roll—not a guarantee of faster times, and not an obvious fit for runners who need extra room up front.
What changed from the Adios Pro 4?
The most important change is the carbon structure. The Pro 4 used EnergyRods; the Pro 5 instead has a carbon-infused rim around the midsole, with LIGHTSTRIKE PRO foam beneath the foot. Runner’s World describes more foam under the arch than in the previous design, while Doctors of Running characterizes the new ride as softer and more compliant. These are reviewers’ descriptions of the design and feel, not proof that every runner will prefer it.

Adidas positions the Pro 5 for marathon road racing. Its official US product listing also names a LIGHTTRAXION outsole paired with Continental rubber. Those are manufacturer descriptions of the shoe’s construction, not independent performance findings. See the adidas US product listing.
How does the Pro 5 feel at race pace?
Across the cited reviews, the ride comes across as quick but less aggressively propulsive than some racers. Believe in the Run reviewers describe a lightweight shoe with a more natural-feeling roll; one found the carbon element less directly noticeable than in shoes where it is felt more clearly underfoot. Runner’s World calls the rim stable and snappy, with a midsole that is firm yet still soft.
#1 Best Overall
- ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4 SYELLO/AURPLU/POWPLU
Doctors of Running reviewers found the Pro 5 most convincing at half-marathon and marathon effort, and less sharp at shorter distances and very fast paces. That makes it a better candidate for runners looking for a rolling long-distance racer than for someone prioritizing the most aggressive feel over short, fast efforts. The reviews reflect individual experience, not a controlled comparison or a promise about your race results.
Specifications: check the size and source
Published weights refer to specific sizes, so they should not be treated as universal figures. The two reviews agree on a 4 mm drop and 39 mm heel stack; Doctors of Running also reports a 35 mm forefoot stack.

Differences in how sources present measurements do not establish how much the shoe weighs in your size. Use the size-specific figure that matches the source’s stated size when comparing shoes.
Will the fit work for you?
Fit is the main caution. Adidas recommends ordering your usual size on its US listing, but the reviewers do not give one consistent sizing answer. A Believe in the Run tester preferred going up half a size; Doctors of Running describes a snug, low-volume upper and a quickly tapered toe box. Runner’s World also warns that the narrow arch may cause blisters for runners with wider feet, and Doctors of Running reviewers report possible friction on longer runs.

- ADIZERO ADIOS PRO 4 BLUE/FTWWHT/LIMBUR
- Consider trying it on first if you have a wide foot, want generous toe room, or have had rubbing problems in close-fitting racers.
- If you order online, check the return policy and test the fit before race day; the reviews support neither a universal half-size-up rule nor a guarantee that your usual size will suit.
- Think about stability needs: Doctors of Running describes the shoe as neutral and notes that its softer foam and midfoot geometry may not offer the structured support some runners want.
What does it cost?
The adidas US product page listed the Pro 5 at $275 when checked on October 4, 2026. T3 reported a global launch on September 22, 2026 at $275 / €275. These are date- and market-specific listings, not a promise of current price or availability; check your local market, colorway, size, stock, and any discount before buying. T3’s launch coverage and the Runner’s World review report the launch pricing.
How should you interpret adidas’s performance claim?
Adidas claims 9% more energy return than the Adios Pro 4; Runner’s World also reports adidas’s claim of 12.5% weight savings. These are manufacturer-reported comparisons relayed by the publications, not independent evidence that runners will be 9% faster, save a set amount of time, or get a particular race outcome. The available reviews do not establish population-level effects on race results or injury risk.

Believe in the Run names the Hoka Cielo X1 3.0 and Nike Alphafly 4 as competitors in a similar price range. These are reviewer assessments, not controlled head-to-head test results.
