Adani Enterprises, APSEZ and Adani Green: Why the Stocks Fell on October 8, 2026

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), and Adani Green Energy fell on October 8, 2026, amid broader weakness in Indian equities. Market coverage pointed to a reported RBI rate increase, elevated crude prices, foreign investor selling and technical pressure as possible sentiment headwinds. Those factors offer context, not proof of a single cause for any one stock’s decline.

How much did the three stocks fall?

Upstox reported these NSE prices at 2:39 p.m. on October 8. They are intraday observations, not closing prices.

Share NSE price at 2:39 p.m. Reported change
Adani Green Energy ₹1,251.40 Down 6.71%
Adani Enterprises ₹2,572.90 Down 6.20%
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) ₹1,688.80 Down 3.50%

Upstox’s October 8 market report attributed the figures to NSE trading. Business Standard separately reported intraday BSE declines of approximately 7% for Adani Green and 6% for Adani Enterprises. The exchange, observation time and rounding differ, so those BSE figures should not be treated as a direct match for the NSE snapshot or as closing values. Business Standard’s report describes that separate intraday move.

What market pressures were cited?

Upstox reported that the Reserve Bank of India raised its repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.5% on October 7, and cited elevated crude prices and continued foreign portfolio investor (FPI) selling as pressures on broader market sentiment. The same report mentioned technical pressure on high-beta Adani counters. These are reported explanations for the market backdrop; the available reporting does not establish how much any factor contributed to each share’s move.

Upstox, citing NSE data, reported that FPIs sold ₹6,121.37 crore of Indian equities on October 7. That figure is a reported one-day flow, not a measure of selling in Adani shares specifically. The report also noted that Indian equities were broadly weak, making the declines part of a wider market selloff rather than evidence on their own of a group-specific event.

Upstox’s account of the rate, crude and FPI factors is secondary market coverage; it is not an independently verified RBI policy record or a stock-by-stock causal analysis.

Do company announcements explain the declines?

Nearby announcements are not, by their dates alone, evidence of a trigger. Adani Enterprises’ investor page listed a credit-rating update and analyst interaction dated October 7, and a Q2 FY27 board meeting scheduled for October 28. Adani Green’s page listed an analyst-meeting notice on October 7 and project operationalization on October 1. APSEZ’s page listed a performance update on October 2 and meeting notices on October 5. The listings do not establish that these items prompted selling; determining their significance would require examining the individual documents and market reaction.

Company results provide business context, but do not explain this day’s share-price move. Adani Enterprises reported consolidated EBITDA of ₹5,642 crore for Q1 FY27, the quarter ended June 30, 2026. It reported FY26 consolidated EBITDA of ₹16,464 crore, with 80% attributed by the company to core infrastructure, utility and mining-services businesses. These are company-reported figures, not independent assessments or evidence of the cause of the October 8 decline.
