Investing.com reported that shares fell 4.13% premarket to $297. The results were mixed, and the reported price move does not by itself establish what caused the decline.
What Acuity reported for Q4 2026
Acuity Inc. (NYSE: AYI) held its fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 earnings call on October 1, 2026. The quarter ended August 31. In its October 1 results release, the company reported net sales of $1.2 billion, up 2.9% year over year, diluted EPS of $5.63, and adjusted diluted EPS of $5.77.
The company said its financial results were preliminary pending completion of the audit and the filing of its Form 10-K. That qualification applies particularly to the full-year figures cited below.

The estimates are from Investing.com’s October 1, 2026 market report, not Acuity guidance or figures established in the company’s release. The EPS comparison is adjusted EPS against an adjusted-EPS estimate; $5.63 is the company’s diluted EPS figure, not the number used for that cited consensus comparison.

Why did the shares fall premarket after the EPS beat?
Investing.com reported a 4.13% premarket decline to $297, compared with the previous close of $309.81. Its report framed the move alongside the revenue miss and described investor concern about sales. That is the publisher’s interpretation of the market reaction, not proof that the revenue shortfall alone caused it. The report establishes the observed price move and the mixed results, but not a definitive causal explanation.
How the two segments performed
The consolidated figures conceal a sharp difference between Acuity’s segments. ABL, the larger lighting business, recorded a slight sales decline, while AIS delivered strong growth.

These figures come from Acuity’s Q4 2026 release. Operating profit and adjusted operating profit are separate measures; the adjusted figures should not be read as GAAP operating profit. The segment split helps explain how company-wide sales could rise year over year while performance differed substantially across the businesses.
What management said and what it expects in fiscal 2027
CEO Neil Ashe characterized the quarter as one of solid execution, citing sales growth, higher adjusted operating profit and margin, higher adjusted diluted EPS, cash generation, and capital allocation. He said management had strengthened ABL while scaling AIS. That is management’s account of performance; the segment results and external revenue comparison provide the additional context.

On the call, management forecast fiscal 2027 net sales of $4.7 billion to $4.9 billion and adjusted EPS of $20.50 to $22.00. Its segment assumptions were different: flat to low-single-digit sales growth in ABL and low-to-mid-teens growth in AIS. These are forward-looking management estimates, not reported results.
AIS memory costs are a forecast headwind
CFO Karen Holcom said memory costs could put about 200 basis points of gross-margin pressure on AIS in fiscal 2027. She described a plan to cover the cost in dollars and work back the margin over time. Both the pressure and the mitigation plan are management expectations, rather than outcomes already reflected in Q4 results.

How the full year compares with the quarter
Acuity reported preliminary fiscal 2026 net sales of $4.6 billion, up 6.8% year over year, diluted EPS of $17.05, adjusted diluted EPS of $19.90, and operating cash flow of $825.6 million. The company said these fiscal-year results remained preliminary pending completion of its audit and filing of its Form 10-K. Those full-year totals provide broader context, but do not change the distinction between the Q4 adjusted-EPS beat against an outside estimate and the revenue miss against that report’s forecast.
