1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesAction Construction Equipment (ACE) and Escorts Kubota are not interchangeable industrial stocks. ACE offers more direct exposure to construction, infrastructure, cranes, material handling and industrial logistics equipment. Escorts Kubota is primarily a tractor company, with a smaller construction-equipment operation. ACE may therefore fit an investor seeking a construction-and-capital-goods profile, while Escorts Kubota may fit someone who wants agriculture demand at the center of the investment case and construction equipment as an additional business.
No current winner can be established from the latest verified materials alone. ACE’s latest reported period is Q1/FY27 (July 20, 2026), whereas Escorts Kubota’s latest presentation is FY26 and Q4/FY26 (May 7, 2026). Their reported figures also use different periods and, in places, different accounting bases. A sensible choice requires matched-period results, same-date valuation data and a review of your own time horizon, risk tolerance and portfolio concentration.

What each company actually sells
The first decision is about business exposure, not recent share-price movement. The two companies participate in overlapping equipment markets, but their revenue engines are different.

In its Q1/FY27 presentation dated July 20, 2026, ACE describes a portfolio spanning pick-and-carry, tower, crawler, truck-mounted and rough-terrain cranes; lorry loaders; backhoe loaders; telehandlers; vibratory rollers; graders; forklifts and warehouse equipment; access platforms; and agricultural tractors and harvesters. The company says its customers include manufacturing and logistics, infrastructure, agriculture and real estate, and that it exports to more than 37 countries. Those descriptions are company-reported, so they should be treated as management’s account of its markets rather than independent market-share measurements.

This mix gives ACE a relatively direct link to capital expenditure, construction activity, infrastructure projects, factories, warehouses and fleet replacement. It is still exposed to agriculture through tractors and harvesters, but agriculture is not the central identity of the business in the way it is for Escorts Kubota.
Escorts Kubota: tractor-led with construction equipment
Escorts Kubota’s FY2024-25 integrated annual report divided the business into agri machinery, construction equipment and railway equipment. It reported ₹8,447.2 crore of agri-machinery revenue, equal to 76.1% of company revenue; ₹1,730.1 crore from construction equipment, or 15.6%; and ₹912.8 crore from railway equipment, or 8.2%. The report also states that the company exited the railway-equipment business. The historical railway percentage should therefore not be carried forward as a current segment.
Tractors remain the bulk of revenue. Escorts Kubota’s FY26 presentation continued to report tractor and construction-equipment volumes, but the two businesses moved in different directions. That distinction matters: buying Escorts Kubota is primarily a bet on a tractor-led agricultural-machinery company with construction equipment, not a pure construction-equipment play.

Latest reported numbers, with the periods kept separate
The table below puts the latest figures side by side without pretending that they are a like-for-like quarterly comparison. ACE’s Q1/FY27 figures are consolidated and its presentation says total income includes other income. Escorts Kubota’s figures below are identified as standalone FY26 or Q4/FY26 figures in its May 7, 2026 presentation.
| Measure | Action Construction Equipment | Escorts Kubota |
|---|---|---|
| Latest verified presentation | Q1/FY27, dated July 20, 2026 | Q4/FY26 and FY26, dated May 7, 2026 |
| Reporting basis noted in the materials | Consolidated Q1/FY27; total income includes other income | Standalone FY26 and Q4/FY26 figures |
| Revenue or total income | INR 8,403 million total income; year-on-year growth 19.5% | ₹11,472.8 crore FY26 revenue from operations; ₹2,950.7 crore in Q4/FY26 |
| EBITDA | INR 1,725 million; up 19.9% year on year; 20.53% margin | ₹1,513.0 crore for FY26; ₹386.0 crore in Q4/FY26 |
| Profit after tax | INR 1,195 million; up 22.3% year on year; 14.22% margin | ₹324.8 crore in Q4/FY26; a comparable FY26 PAT figure was not stated in the cited presentation summary |
| Diluted EPS | INR 10.04, up 22.3% year on year | Not stated in the cited FY26 presentation summary |
| Key volume signal | Operating revenue up 20.5% year on year; construction-equipment segment growth 21.96%, with 18.16% segment margin, according to management | FY26 tractor volumes up 15.7%; construction-equipment volumes down 10.6% |
These numbers show why a simple “higher growth wins” conclusion would be misleading. ACE’s percentage growth is for one quarter in FY27, while Escorts Kubota’s volume and financial figures cover FY26 and its fourth quarter. Different periods can capture different demand, pricing, commodity and seasonality conditions. Compare the next matched quarters on the same consolidated or standalone basis before ranking operating performance.
What the recent operating signals say
ACE’s Q1/FY27 momentum
ACE reported Q1/FY27 total income of INR 8,403 million, up 19.5% year on year. EBITDA rose 19.9% to INR 1,725 million, producing a 20.53% margin. Profit after tax increased 22.3% to INR 1,195 million, with a 14.22% PAT margin, and diluted EPS was INR 10.04, also up 22.3% year on year.
The presentation separately said operating revenue grew 20.5% and that its construction-equipment segment grew 21.96% year on year with an 18.16% segment margin. These are management-presented figures, not independent forecasts. They indicate strong reported momentum in the quarter, but one quarter does not establish a complete cycle or prove that the same growth rate will persist.

Escorts Kubota’s split performance in FY26
Escorts Kubota reported standalone FY26 tractor-volume growth of 15.7%, while construction-equipment volumes declined 10.6%. For Q4/FY26, revenue from operations was ₹2,950.7 crore, EBITDA was ₹386.0 crore and PAT was ₹324.8 crore. FY26 revenue from operations was ₹11,472.8 crore and EBITDA was ₹1,513.0 crore.
The product-category table in the Q4/FY26 presentation shows why segment totals need context. Tractor volumes rose 21.1% year on year in the quarter, while backhoe-loader volumes fell 54.6% and compactor volumes fell 92.4%. The same presentation said served construction-equipment volume was up 9.2% year on year. Product categories can diverge sharply from an aggregate segment number because the mix of products included in each measure is different.
Which portfolio exposure is more suitable?
Choose ACE’s type of exposure when construction and industrial demand are the priority
ACE is the more direct fit if you want a company whose product range is centered on cranes, earthmoving and road equipment, forklifts, warehouse systems, access platforms and related material-handling machinery. Its stated customer mix links results to infrastructure spending, industrial expansion, logistics capacity, manufacturing investment and real-estate construction.
- Potential portfolio role: a capital-goods or construction-equipment allocation.
- Demand drivers to monitor: public and private infrastructure awards, factory and warehouse investment, construction starts, equipment-financing availability and fleet replacement.
- Important qualification: the business also includes agricultural equipment and exports, so it is diversified within machinery rather than insulated from agriculture, currency or overseas conditions.
Choose Escorts Kubota’s type of exposure when agriculture is the anchor
Escorts Kubota may fit an investor who wants tractor demand and farm economics to drive the main investment case, with construction equipment adding a second source of activity. The historical revenue mix—76.1% agri machinery in FY2024-25—illustrates how dominant that business has been, although the railway-equipment exit means the current mix should be measured from newer filings rather than copied from the old report.

- Important qualification: construction-equipment performance may not track tractors. In FY26, tractor volumes grew while reported construction-equipment volumes declined.
How to compare growth and margins correctly
Do not place ACE’s 20.53% Q1/FY27 EBITDA margin directly beside Escorts Kubota’s FY26 EBITDA amount and call one company more profitable. The data points do not represent the same period, reporting basis or denominator. A reliable comparison should follow this sequence:
- Wait for Escorts Kubota’s corresponding FY27 quarter, or use an earlier ACE period that matches FY26.
- Use consolidated figures for both companies, or standalone figures for both. Label any exceptions.
- Check whether revenue means total income, revenue from operations or another measure; ACE’s cited total income includes other income.
- Compare EBITDA margin, operating margin and PAT margin calculated from the same type of revenue.
- Separate volume growth from price, product mix and currency effects.
- Read segment notes to determine whether construction equipment, tractors or another category produced the change.
For ACE, the Q1/FY27 growth figures are encouraging but quarterly. For Escorts Kubota, FY26 shows a strong tractor-volume trend alongside weakness in reported construction-equipment volumes. Neither set of figures, by itself, answers which stock will deliver the better future return.
Valuation: the missing half of a stock decision
Operating growth matters only in relation to the price paid for it. A company can grow faster and still be a poor purchase if the market price already assumes years of strong execution. Conversely, a slower-growing company can be attractive if expectations are unusually low and the balance sheet supports recovery.

No comparable current valuation set for both companies was established in the cited materials. ACE’s presentation includes market data as of June 30, 2026, but that date should not be treated as current on October 16, 2026, and it does not create a matching Escorts Kubota valuation set. Obtain both prices and multiples on the same date before making a relative-value judgment.
Balance sheet, cash flow and capital allocation checks
Equipment manufacturers can report accounting profits while cash is tied up in inventory, receivables or dealer financing. Before buying either stock, read the latest audited annual report and matched interim statement for:
- operating cash flow compared with EBITDA and PAT;
- inventory days and receivable days, especially during rapid growth;
- customer advances, dealer financing and warranty provisions;
- capital expenditure, depreciation and maintenance requirements;
- net cash or borrowing, interest cost and debt maturities;
- dividends, buybacks, acquisitions and joint-venture funding;
- return on capital through a full demand cycle.
ACE’s Q1/FY27 presentation provides historical balance-sheet tables through FY26, but the cited material does not establish a current, like-for-like cash-flow and balance-sheet comparison with Escorts Kubota. Treat that as an unresolved due-diligence step, not as evidence that one company has the stronger financial position.
Partnerships, execution and management claims
ACE lists a 50:50 ACE–KATO joint venture for crawler, truck and rough-terrain cranes. The stated aims are technology upgrades, localization and export expansion. Those are strategic objectives; the presentation does not establish that they have already produced a particular level of profit, market share or export growth.
Investor presentations often use terms such as leadership, market share or fastest growth. Attribute such statements to the company and seek independent industry data before relying on them. For both companies, verify whether new products, factories, distribution arrangements or partnerships are generating volume, margin and cash rather than only announcements.
Risk factors that can change the thesis
Macro, commodity and supply-chain risk
ACE’s Q1/FY27 presentation states: “While India’s macroeconomic fundamentals continue to remain robust, the escalation of geopolitical tensions in West Asia, elevated crude oil and Commodity prices, supply chain disruptions and sharp inflation have created a challenging operating environment”. This is management’s description of conditions, not a guarantee of future results. Steel, hydraulics, engines, electronics, freight and energy costs can pressure margins when price increases lag input inflation.
Construction-cycle risk
Construction and infrastructure equipment can be sensitive to project awards, execution delays, financing conditions and government-capital-spending timing. A strong order announcement may not become revenue quickly, and utilization can fall when projects are postponed.

Farm-cycle risk
Escorts Kubota’s tractor concentration links results to farm cash flows, rainfall, crop realizations, rural credit and replacement demand. A weak agricultural season can affect volumes even if construction activity is healthy.
Mix and concentration risk
Escorts Kubota’s product-level FY26 figures demonstrate that tractors, backhoe loaders and compactors can move in opposite directions. ACE’s wider catalogue reduces dependence on one equipment category but increases the need to understand many end markets, product launches and geographic exposures.

Valuation and expectation risk

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical decision process before buying
- Define the desired exposure. Write down whether you want construction and industrial-capital-goods exposure, tractor-led agricultural exposure, or a combination.
- Set portfolio limits. Decide the maximum position size, acceptable drawdown and how the holding interacts with existing industrial, rural or infrastructure positions.
- Build a matched-period comparison. Use the same quarter, accounting basis and revenue definition for both companies.
- Normalize the cycle. Examine several years of volume, margins, cash flow and returns rather than extrapolating one strong quarter.
- Check valuation on one date. Record price, market value and multiples for both stocks on the same trading day.
- Stress-test the thesis. Model lower equipment volumes, higher commodity costs, slower collections and delayed projects or farm demand.
- Define what would change your mind. Examples include sustained margin erosion, negative cash conversion, rising leverage, lost distribution strength or a valuation that leaves no margin of safety.
- Choose an entry method. If valuation is uncertain, staged buying can reduce timing risk, but it does not remove business risk or make an expensive stock cheap.
Decision matrix
| If your main objective is… | Business that is more naturally aligned | Evidence to verify before purchase |
|---|---|---|
| Direct construction, infrastructure and material-handling exposure | ACE | Matched construction-equipment growth, order conversion, margins, cash flow and valuation |
| Tractor-led agricultural exposure | Escorts Kubota | Tractor volumes, rural demand indicators, mix, pricing, dealer inventory and valuation |
| A diversified machinery basket | Either could contribute, but they diversify different risks | Existing portfolio overlap, correlation with current holdings and position sizing |
| Highest recent reported growth | Cannot be ranked fairly from the cited periods | Comparable FY27 quarter results for both companies |
| Cheapest stock | Not established | Same-date market capitalization, earnings estimates and valuation multiples |
What to monitor after you invest
Set a recurring review rather than reacting to a single headline. For ACE, track construction-equipment volumes, utilization of cranes and road machinery, export progress, segment margin, input costs and the ACE–KATO venture’s measurable contribution. For Escorts Kubota, track tractor volumes, rural demand, construction-equipment volumes by category, the post-railway-exit segment mix and cash conversion.
For both, read the full earnings release and investor presentation, reconcile presentation numbers with statutory filings, and note whether growth comes from units, price, mix or acquisitions. Update the valuation using the latest price rather than carrying forward an old quote.
