Short answer: the product often called the “Acer Chromebook Plus 14” is officially the 14-inch Acer Chromebook Plus 514 family, not one single fixed configuration. It is a sensible choice if you want a mainstream 14-inch ChromeOS laptop, useful ports and a 16:10 screen. The exact processor, panel, storage and battery result depend on the model number and region. If you specifically want an OLED screen, fingerprint reader and a newer ARM-based design, compare it with the separately named Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14. If screen size matters more than portability, Acer’s Chromebook Plus 515 and 516 are larger alternatives.
This guide explains the naming confusion, the documented configurations, what Chromebook Plus actually means, and which type of buyer each laptop suits.

First, identify which “Acer Chromebook Plus 14” you mean
Acer’s official 14-inch Chromebook Plus product is the Chromebook Plus 514 family. Acer’s April 18, 2024 launch announcement covered the CB514-4H/T generation, while an Acer US store page inspected on October 13, 2026 listed a CB514-3HT-R8RB configuration. Those are not interchangeable specifications.

The title can also be confused with the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14, which Google announced on June 23, 2025. That is a separate product with a different processor platform and display technology. Before comparing prices or reviews, read the full model number on the retailer or manufacturer page.

Why the model number matters
- The CB514-4H/T launch family used Intel Core i3-N305, 8 GB LPDDR5 and a 14-inch Full HD IPS panel rated at 300 nits. Acer said configurations could include up to 512 GB of storage.
- The CB514-3HT-R8RB store listing used AMD Ryzen 3 7320C, 8 GB LPDDR5X, a 128 GB SSD and a 14-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS touchscreen.
- Acer says specifications vary by model and region, so the processor, memory type, storage, touchscreen availability, keyboard backlight and battery claim should be checked for the exact SKU.
At a glance: which laptop fits which buyer?
| If your priority is… | Start by comparing… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| A conventional 14-inch laptop with broad connectivity | Acer Chromebook Plus 514 | The family offers two USB-C ports, USB-A, HDMI, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 on Acer’s current product description, with touchscreen and backlit-keyboard options depending on SKU. |
| OLED image quality, a fingerprint reader and newer on-device AI hardware | Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 | Google describes a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, an NPU rated up to 50 TOPS, OLED display and fingerprint scanner. |
| A larger workspace | Acer Chromebook Plus 515 or 516 | Google’s catalog lists a 15.6-inch Plus 515 and a 16-inch 1920 × 1200 Plus 516. |
| The lowest documented Acer price | The exact CB514 listing, then current stock | An Acer US CB514-3HT-R8RB snapshot showed $399.99 but was out of stock on October 13, 2026; that is not a current availability promise. |
These are decision starting points, not a universal ranking. A cheaper configuration with a dimmer panel can be a worse purchase for your work than a slightly more expensive touchscreen model.
What the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 offers
Display and physical design
Acer’s current 14-inch product description specifies a 1920 × 1200 WUXGA display with narrow bezels and an optional touchscreen. The 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical room than a conventional 16:9 Full HD panel, which is useful for documents, web pages and coding. The 2024 CB514-4H/T announcement instead described a 14-inch Full HD IPS screen rated at 300 nits. Because those descriptions refer to different configurations, do not assume that every CB514 has the same resolution, brightness or touch support.
Acer also advertises MIL-STD-810H compliance. That is a manufacturer durability claim, not evidence that every unit is indestructible; normal care still matters, especially around hinges, ports and the display.

Ports and wireless
Acer’s product page lists Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI, one USB-A port and two USB-C ports. This is a practical arrangement for a desk where you might connect a monitor, charger, mouse or storage drive without immediately buying a hub. Check the port layout and charging behavior on the exact regional model before ordering, because Acer states that specifications vary.
Processors, memory and storage
The documented CB514 examples span Intel and AMD platforms:

- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.

| Configuration | Processor | Memory | Storage | Display information |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CB514-4H/T launch family (Acer, April 2024) | Intel Core i3-N305 | 8 GB LPDDR5 | Up to 512 GB announced for the family | 14-inch Full HD IPS, 300 nits |
| CB514-3HT-R8RB Acer US listing (snapshot inspected October 13, 2026) | AMD Ryzen 3 7320C | 8 GB LPDDR5X | 128 GB SSD | 14-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS touchscreen |
| CB514 configuration listed by TechRadar (reviewed model) | Intel Core 3 100U | 8 GB LPDDR5 | 128 GB UFS | 14-inch 1920 × 1200 IPS, 16:10 |
The TechRadar configuration demonstrates why a review result cannot be transferred automatically to every CB514 listing. A Core 3 100U model with UFS storage is a different machine from an AMD Ryzen 3 7320C model with an SSD, even though both carry the Chromebook Plus 514 name.
Battery expectations
Acer’s current product page claims up to 12 hours, while its 2024 CB514-4H/T announcement claimed up to 11 hours. Acer qualifies both figures by noting that battery life changes with model, configuration, applications, settings and conditions. TechRadar reported more than eight hours of continuous use on its reviewed Acer Chromebook Plus 514 configuration. That independent result belongs to that reviewer’s test method and hardware; it is not a guarantee for every SKU.
For a realistic buying decision, treat “up to” as a ceiling under specified conditions. A bright screen, video calls, Android applications, many browser tabs and external peripherals can all reduce runtime. Look for the exact battery capacity and test details on the listing when those are provided.
What Chromebook Plus means
“Chromebook Plus” is both a product tier and a set of hardware requirements used by Google. Google’s support documentation says certain older Chromebooks can receive a Chromebook Plus operating-system update when they meet criteria including:
- Intel Core i3 12th generation or newer, or AMD Ryzen 3 5000 series or newer
- At least 8 GB of RAM
- At least 128 GB of storage
- A 1080p webcam or better with Temporal Noise Reduction
- A Full HD IPS display or better
Google separately lists eligible older models. An older Chromebook receiving that update should not be described as a newly launched Chromebook Plus model. When shopping, distinguish a current Plus-branded device from an older device that later became eligible for Plus software features.

How the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 differs
Google announced the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 on June 23, 2025. Google describes a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra processor, an NPU rated at up to 50 TOPS, an OLED display, a fingerprint scanner and up to 17 hours of battery life. Those are manufacturer statements, and the battery figure is not a result from the same test used by TechRadar on the Acer.
Tom’s Guide lists the Lenovo model with a MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910, 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of UFS storage and a 14-inch 1920 × 1200 OLED display. It lists weights of 2.5 pounds for the non-touch version and 2.7 pounds for the touch version. Retail configurations and prices should be confirmed before purchase.
Choose Lenovo’s design when these features matter
- OLED: OLED can provide deeper blacks and stronger contrast than an IPS panel, which is valuable for films and photo work. Check brightness, reflections and the exact touch configuration rather than assuming every regional model is identical.
- Fingerprint sign-in: The fingerprint scanner can be more convenient than typing a password at supported sign-in points.
- AI-oriented hardware: Google’s announcement highlights an NPU rated up to 50 TOPS and new ChromeOS AI features. This is a platform capability claim, not a promise that every future feature will run locally or be available in every market.
- Light travel: The listed 2.5- to 2.7-pound weights are attractive for commuting, but compare the actual touch model because the figures differ.
When a larger Acer Chromebook Plus is the better choice
Google’s Chromebook catalog lists two larger Acer Plus models. The Chromebook Plus 515 has a 15.6-inch Full HD display, Intel Core i3-1305, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, with a starting MSRP of $429.99. The Chromebook Plus 516 has an Intel Core i3-1315U, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 16-inch 1920 × 1200 display, with a starting MSRP of $479. Google lists up to 15.5 hours for the Plus 516 and cautions that actual battery results depend on configuration and use.
| Model | Processor | Memory | Storage | Screen | Published starting price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Acer Chromebook Plus 515 | Intel Core i3-1305 | 8 GB | 128 GB | 15.6-inch Full HD | From $429.99 MSRP |
| Acer Chromebook Plus 516 | Intel Core i3-1315U | 8 GB | 128 GB | 16-inch 1920 × 1200 | From $479 MSRP |
A larger chassis can make split-screen work and spreadsheets easier, but it occupies more desk and bag space. Tom’s Guide characterizes the Plus 515 as an affordable large-screen option and comments on a cheap-feeling design; that is an editorial assessment, not a controlled laboratory measurement.

Performance, keyboard and everyday use
For school, office and browser-heavy work
Any of the documented 8 GB configurations is aligned with the Chromebook Plus minimum memory requirement and should suit ordinary web work, cloud documents, video meetings and moderate multitasking. The exact processor and storage technology still affect responsiveness when you open many tabs, run Android apps or use Linux development tools. If your workload includes sustained local compilation, professional creative software or large virtual machines, verify application support before choosing a Chromebook; ChromeOS is not a drop-in replacement for every Windows or macOS program.
For calls and remote meetings
Chromebook Plus requirements call for a 1080p webcam or better with Temporal Noise Reduction, but the precise webcam specification should still be checked on the listing for the model you are considering. Screen brightness and microphone behavior can matter as much as processor speed in a bright room or shared workspace.
For typing and noise-sensitive rooms
TechRadar notes keyboard feel and fan noise as trade-offs on its reviewed Acer Chromebook Plus 514. Those observations apply to that tested configuration and reviewer methodology. If you type for hours or record audio nearby, seek a return policy and read reviews for the exact SKU rather than relying on the family name.
A practical buying procedure
- Copy the full model number. Record whether the listing is CB514-4H/T, CB514-3HT-R8RB or another suffix. Do not buy from a title that only says “Acer Chromebook Plus 14.”
- Confirm the processor generation. Compare the listed Intel or AMD chip with your workload. The documented CB514 family includes Intel Core i3-N305, Intel Core 3 100U and AMD Ryzen 3 7320C configurations.
- Verify the panel. Check 1920 × 1200 versus Full HD, IPS versus OLED, brightness, touch support and aspect ratio. The launch CB514 panel was Full HD IPS at 300 nits; other listings use 1920 × 1200.
- Check memory and storage. Confirm at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or more if you expect local Android files, Linux tools or offline media. Storage type matters: the documented examples include SSD and UFS.
- Count the ports you actually use. The Acer page lists HDMI, one USB-A and two USB-C ports, but verify the regional configuration and whether USB-C supports your preferred display or charging setup.
- Compare battery evidence fairly. Keep Acer’s “up to 12 hours,” the 2024 “up to 11 hours,” Google’s Lenovo “up to 17 hours” and independent testing in separate categories. They are not equivalent measurements.
- Check weight and dimensions. A 14-inch model generally travels more easily than a 15.6- or 16-inch model. Lenovo’s published weights distinguish touch and non-touch versions.
- Confirm stock, price and returns. The $399.99 Acer store snapshot was out of stock on October 13, 2026. Prices and availability can change, so treat that figure as historical context only.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming every 514 has the launch specification
The Intel CB514-4H/T announcement does not describe every later or regional CB514. A current listing may use AMD hardware, a touchscreen, a different storage device or another panel. Match the review to the exact model number.
Comparing advertised battery ceilings as test scores
“Up to” figures are manufacturer estimates. The Acer and Lenovo numbers were published by their manufacturers, while TechRadar’s result came from an independent review of one Acer configuration. Keep those evidence types separate.

Confusing an eligible update with a new product
An older Chromebook can meet Google’s Plus update criteria without being a newly launched Chromebook Plus laptop. Check the original model and its update status.
Paying for features your applications cannot use
ChromeOS works well for browser-based services and supported Android or Linux applications, but application compatibility is the first check for specialist desktop software. A faster Plus model cannot solve an unsupported application requirement.
Which laptop is right for you?
Pick the Acer Chromebook Plus 514 when…
- You want a conventional 14-inch format and the ports listed by Acer are useful to you.
- You are comfortable verifying the exact CPU, panel, storage and touchscreen configuration before checkout.
- Your work is primarily browser-based, with moderate Android or Linux use.
- You find a well-priced, in-stock SKU with a suitable keyboard and return policy.
Pick the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 when…
- OLED contrast, a fingerprint scanner and the newer MediaTek/NPU platform are priorities.
- You prefer a lightweight 14-inch design and can confirm the touch option and local configuration.
- You are willing to treat the advertised 17-hour battery figure as a manufacturer estimate rather than a directly comparable test result.
Pick the Acer Chromebook Plus 515 or 516 when…
- You routinely split windows, edit wide spreadsheets or want a larger viewing area.
- You accept a larger footprint in exchange for screen size.
- The published starting MSRP and current local price make the larger model a better value than the 14-inch configuration available to you.
Bottom line
The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 is the closest official match for the phrase “Acer Chromebook Plus 14,” but it is a family of configurations rather than one uniform laptop. Its strengths are the familiar 14-inch form factor, practical connectivity and Chromebook Plus-class hardware. Its main risk is buying the name instead of the SKU: processor, screen, storage, touch support and battery behavior vary.
