ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE launched worldwide on 2 October 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. It is the first mainline entry in the series in seven years, according to publisher Bandai Namco. What is ACE COMBAT 8 about?
The campaign unfolds in Strangereal, the series’ fictional world. In the game’s July 2029 chronology, the Republic of Sotoa invades and occupies the Federation of Central Usea (FCU), leaving the FCU military shattered. The player is known as the “Wings of Theve,” a name tied to the FCU capital. The official story frames the legendary ace as a morale-building fiction: “But that legend was a lie; it was a story made to keep morale alive.” Bandai Namco’s series page presents that line as story copy, not as a quote from a named speaker.

You fight with Joker Flight to reclaim the homeland. Bandai Namco says player decisions shape the conflict; the campaign includes air-to-air dogfights, attacks on ground and naval targets, and battles against giant fictional weapons. Players can choose aircraft and squadron composition and issue commands to wingmen. PlayStation Blog’s campaign overview describes the Land Battleship as approximately 450 metres long—a fictional vehicle, not a real-world specification.

Bandai Namco says the game is built with Unreal Engine 5 and proprietary technology. The publisher describes air combat as a central focus, but claims that the game is the “most immersive” or “largest” in franchise history are promotional positioning, not independently established comparisons.

PlayStation Blog lists over 30 aircraft, grouped into fighter, attack, multi-role and electronic-warfare roles. That gives players several mission approaches: choose an aircraft to suit the task, shape the squadron, then direct wingmen during combat. What multiplayer features are included?
The publisher describes cross-platform multiplayer with co-op and competitive activities, an online rewards system and a shared Air Base social hub. The hub can host up to 100 players, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. That capacity applies to the online hub; it is not a stated match size.

Treat this as an announcement-era offer, not a guarantee that a new purchase now includes it; check the retailer’s current regional terms. The Joker Flight Pack may suit collectors interested in its vinyl and artbook, but its announced sales channel was the Bandai Namco Store. The phrase “ACE COMBAT 8 Joker Flight Pack” is a useful search term, not evidence that a current marketplace listing is official or in stock.
