How quickly did it reach one million?
The game launched worldwide on October 2, 2026, following early access that began September 29. Bandai Namco announced the one-million-unit milestone on October 9. The publisher calls this the fastest pace in the franchise, but its announcement does not specify the exact time at which the million-unit threshold was crossed or provide a day-by-day sales breakdown. The dates establish the launch and announcement window, not a more exact sales timestamp.
Does this make Ace Combat 8 the series’ best-selling game?
Not based on the announcement. “Fastest to one million” measures how quickly a game reached that threshold; it does not establish which title has the most lifetime sales. Separately, Bandai Namco reported that the Ace Combat franchise had shipped more than 22 million copies worldwide as of its October 9, 2026 release. That is a series-wide shipment figure, not ACE COMBAT 8’s sales total. Bandai Namco’s franchise-wide release gives that figure.

Why does the 31-year framing differ from “30-year franchise”?
Bandai Namco says the series celebrated its 30th anniversary in June 2025, placing its start in 1995. Counting from that start through 2026 gives the franchise a 31-year history. The October 9, 2026 milestone announcement nevertheless describes Ace Combat as a “30-year franchise.” These phrases use different anniversary framing; the record itself is unaffected.
What is Ace Combat 8, and where is it available?
Bandai Namco describes the game as a flight-shooting title set in Strangereal, the series’ fictional universe. Players take on the role of the pilot known as the Wings of Theve and join Joker Flight in an effort to reclaim the Federation of Central Usea after its occupation. The publisher lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam as platforms.

At launch, Bandai Namco also described cross-platform online play, cooperative and competitive modes, and an Air Base social hub supporting up to 100 players. These are publisher-stated features, not independent performance or player-count findings. The publisher’s launch announcement also identifies a Deluxe Edition that includes ACES at WAR: A HISTORY 2029, an artbook of more than 200 pages, and two soundtrack LPs; it describes the Premium Ace Pass as separately available. Bandai Namco also calls ACE COMBAT 8 the series’ second-highest-rated game by critics’ scores on review aggregate sites. The milestone announcement does not name the sites, state a score, or give a dated ranking snapshot. Treat that as the publisher’s characterization rather than a fully specified, independently verifiable ranking.
