Spoiler warning: This list names every campaign mission and operation. Launch-period guides report a Prologue followed by 30 numbered missions in one fixed order; they do not describe a player-selectable campaign branch. Mission 18’s operation is called “Branching Path,” but that label is not evidence of an alternate route. The guides disagree about the difficulty required to unlock Free Mission, so that condition remains unconfirmed.
How the ACE COMBAT 8 campaign is structured
ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE launched worldwide on October 2, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Its story follows the FCU’s effort to reclaim its capital, Theve, from the Republic of Sotoa, with the carrier Endurance serving as the player’s base of operations. The publisher describes sorties involving air combat, support for ground forces, and naval threats.

KeenGamer’s September 29, 2026 guide lists a Prologue and Missions 01–30; TheClick.gg published the same sequence on September 30. That makes 31 listed campaign sorties when the Prologue is counted. The reviewed official publisher pages do not provide a complete mission roster, so the names and order below are guide-reported rather than an official published list.

Is there a branching campaign route?
The mission-list guides present the campaign as a fixed sequence and do not identify a point where players choose between alternate story routes. “Branching Path” is the operation name attached to Mission 18, “Moonlight and Shadows”; it should not be read as confirmation of a branching campaign. The reviewed sources do not establish optional route choices or permanently missable campaign missions.

How to unlock missions and Free Mission
The guides list the campaign in order, but their claims about replay access conflict. KeenGamer says Free Mission opens after completing the campaign on any difficulty. PowerPyx says completing it on Elite unlocks Free Mission. The reviewed official pages do not settle the difference, so an exact difficulty requirement cannot be stated confidently. Check the mode menu in your current game build, or consult a current guide that verifies the condition in-game.
For aircraft progression, Bandai Namco says additional fighter jets can be unlocked using MRP earned in missions. Its official overview also recommends matching aircraft, weapons, and upgrades to the sortie objective. Briefings provide intelligence for planning, while wingman commands include attack and cover options.

Prepare for each sortie
The official materials identify three broad sortie demands: dogfights, air support for ground troops, and air-to-sea combat. Use the briefing to identify the mission’s threats, then choose an available aircraft, special weapon, and upgrades suited to that job. The sources reviewed do not establish optimal loadouts for individual numbered missions.
