How Abhishek remembers the original ‘Kajra Re’ shoot
Abhishek recalled the shoot as one of the most enjoyable song shoots he had experienced. He said filming fell on his birthday and that the crew celebrated. As he described it: “I don’t know if I have had more fun shooting a song than shooting ‘Kajra Re’. It was just one big happy party. We enjoyed it so much. I still remember we were filming and it was my birthday, and they celebrated.”

He said director Shaad Ali played the song for about four hours while the set became a dance party. According to Abhishek, Ali filmed some of the spontaneous dancing and included those shots in the song: “He actually shot a lot of that and inserted those shots of us just having fun, freaking out on set in the song.” The duration and filming details are Abhishek’s recollection, not independently verified production records.

“Kajra Re” featured Abhishek, Amitabh Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai in the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli. The Indian Express reports that Abhishek played a con artist alongside Rani Mukerji, while Amitabh played the police officer pursuing them; Aishwarya appeared in a cameo for the song.
