Chinese fitness influencer Abeeeer apologized on October 3, 2026, after acknowledging that she broke race rules by accepting a bicycle ride during the Berlin Marathon. Reports say she had shared a finish time of 4:53:46 as a personal best; scrutiny followed a photograph placing her on a bicycle near the 38-kilometer mark and reports that her fastest five-kilometer segment was 35–40 km.
What happened at the Berlin Marathon
The 2026 Berlin Marathon took place on September 27. Abeeeer, a Chinese fitness influencer reported to have approximately 530,000 followers, shared a time of 4:53:46 and presented it as a personal best, according to Runner’s World and The Straits Times.

The scrutiny centered on a photograph reported to show her riding a bicycle near the 38-kilometer point. OMTIU, an Instagram account that investigates questionable race performances, also flagged timing data: reports say her fastest five-kilometer split was the 35–40 km segment, which overlapped with the photographed location. That comparison prompted questions about the result; it is not, by itself, an official race ruling.
What Abeeeer said in her apology
On October 3, she acknowledged violating race rules and said feeling unwell did not excuse her conduct. Runner’s World reproduced her apology as saying, “I will not make any defense for the above behavior.” She also described how she presented the race afterward as “a very dishonest act” that “violated the sporting spirit of fair marathon competition.” These quotations were reported from her social-media apology.

Brooks China ended its relationship with her
Brooks China, which had supplied race equipment and partnered with Abeeeer, said it ended its relationship with her. In a statement reproduced by The Independent, the company said it had verified her finishing result and the text, images, and video materials she provided, but had not thoroughly reviewed the full participation process, particularly segment data. It called that failure “an oversight on our part”.

Was she officially disqualified?
The incident reports cited here do not confirm that Berlin Marathon organizers disqualified Abeeeer, revised her official result, or issued another sanction. Her own admission and the reported photograph and split data are distinct from a formal organizer decision; the latter remains unconfirmed in those reports.
As general context, The Straits Times explains that electronic timing records can help organizers check runners’ progress at course points, while identity checks can address bib swapping and unauthorized substitutes. That describes race-monitoring practices generally, not a verified account of how organizers investigated this particular case.
