What the app is said to do
Haier lists Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and the hOn app for this model. The official page describes cycle management and monitoring through the app, customisation, energy-performance insights, maintenance support, and additional programmes. Haier also notes that feature availability may depend on the model and the market, so a feature on the UK page may not appear on a machine bought elsewhere.
What the reviewer actually used it for
Checking remaining time from elsewhere
The reviewer’s main use was checking how much cycle time was left without going to the washer. For a household that loads the machine and then gets on with other tasks, this is the difference between checking and guessing.

Finish notifications
The review says the machine sends an end-of-cycle notification, and the reviewer received it on an Apple Watch in their setup. This was the feature the reviewer valued most, because it prompted them to move the laundry along instead of leaving it to sit in the drum.
Reminders, label scanning and guided wash
The reviewer also described washing-label scanning, a guided wash option, and reminders to move laundry along. These are convenience features. The review does not present them as the reason to buy the machine, and it does not say how accurate label scanning is across different garments.

The mobile-connect step, and what it changes
Remote control is where the reviewer found the most friction. Monitoring and notifications work through the app, but remote stopping and cycle selection depend on a step at the machine itself. The review does not spell out the exact label of the control on the panel, so look for the mobile-connect function in the machine’s own menu or panel when you set it up.
- Load the machine and choose the cycle at the panel.
- Enable the mobile-connect control on the machine for that load.
- Start the cycle, then use the app for progress, notifications, and any remote changes you need.

Performance: what the reviewer observed
The reviewer said ordinary and Smart AI programmes cleaned well and removed stains. The motor was quiet for most of the wash. Full spin made the machine shake noticeably. Drying worked well with the reviewer’s loads.

The reviewer was less comfortable trusting the Smart AI programme with delicate clothes. These are personal observations from one reviewer’s loads over two months. They are not from a controlled lab comparison, and the review does not compare the machine’s cleaning or drying against competing models.
Who the connected features suit
- People who forget laundry in the machine and want an end-of-cycle alert.
- Households where the washer is in a different room or floor from the person who wants to check progress.
- Buyers who are willing to enable the mobile-connect control for each load, or who only need monitoring and notifications.
- Buyers who need remote stop or cycle changes often will find the per-load enable step a repeated nuisance.
- Buyers who are happy to check the machine by hand will get little from the app beyond what the panel already tells them.
Before you compare it with other machines
The Haier range includes other washer-dryers and colour variants of the X9, so the choice is not just graphite or white. The cited sources do not rank this model against alternatives. A fair comparison should use the same measures for each option:
- Wash and dry capacity, and the spin speed.
- Cycle duration and energy use for the programmes you run.
- Dimensions and installation space, including the door and drum access.
- Noise during wash and spin.
- App features and any machine-side steps needed before remote control works.
- Price, and the warranty and service terms in your country.
- Whether you need a combined washer-dryer at all, or would be better served by a separate washer and dryer.
Do not treat the app as the deciding factor unless you will use it. Its value depends on how often you forget loads or need to check progress from another room.
