But the company’s page does not identify the author or confirm the exact first-person story, and it documents a rotation API—not a complete campaign-management tool. The useful idea is the workflow: correct or flag product photos before they reach downstream vision and campaign processes.
What the rotation checker does
BlueVeta says BlueVetaUpright is the same engine it uses to keep its own product photos upright, now offered as an API. It accepts raw image bytes or a public image URL and supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC. The service analyzes image pixels rather than relying on camera rotation metadata.

A request can return whether an image is already upright, a clockwise quarter-turn correction, or a fine-angle correction. It can also return confidence figures and flags, including low confidence, disagreement with EXIF orientation, or a recommendation for human review. The corrected-image response is optional and costs more than detection alone.
Where it fits in a campaign workflow
Orientation is an upstream image-quality check, not a campaign platform by itself. A practical workflow is to run the check when product photos enter an asset pipeline, automatically correct clear cases, and route uncertain cases to a person before using the images in downstream AI vision or campaign processing. BlueVeta says rotated images affected its own downstream pipeline; that does not establish how other systems perform or prove that correcting orientation improves every campaign outcome.

BlueVeta says its main angle breakdown excludes images without a single correct orientation, such as flat lays and photos of products held at an angle. It also reports slightly lower results for AI-generated or stock-style images and says unbranded products are harder. The page describes a test pool of roughly 25,000 images with verified answers, created by expanding almost 2,000 individually human-reviewed real photos through up to 24 rotations each. That is the vendor’s account of its dataset and evaluation; the figures do not establish performance on every seller’s catalog.

Which images need extra care?
BlueVeta says visible text or labels and clear, asymmetric product shapes tend to be easier to orient. Symmetric objects can have several plausible orientations, while hands that obscure a product’s shape make the decision harder. The API analyzes a centered crop, so the company advises keeping the product centered in a clear, well-lit image.
Quarter-turn correction is described as lossless by the vendor. Fine-angle correction resamples pixels and may cause a small quality loss. That distinction matters if images are repeatedly processed or if retaining the original pixels is important: keep an untouched source and review the corrected output before replacing it.

Inputs, outputs, and listed API cost
BlueVeta’s page, accessed October 4, 2026, lists direct upload without a hard size cap and a 20 MB limit for images fetched from a URL. Signal-only detection costs one credit; requesting the corrected image costs 1.5 credits. Those are the vendor’s listed credit amounts per request.
The page displayed these credit-purchase terms on October 4, 2026: 3 cents per credit with a $3 minimum on the first purchase, 1,000 credits for $18, or 10,000 credits for $150. BlueVeta says there is no subscription and credits do not expire. Prices and terms can change, so check the current product page before budgeting a deployment.

How to assess it for your own image pipeline
Before automating corrections, compare the API with your current manual or software-based process using images representative of your catalog. In particular, assess clean quarter-turns separately from fine-angle cases; check whether confidence and review flags are useful; verify your formats and upload method; and decide whether you need a corrected image or only a rotation signal. Estimate cost at your expected request volume, including requests that need the image returned.
BlueVeta describes the system as geometric checks plus two independently trained AI models and a smaller third model that assesses the first two models’ answers. This is the vendor’s description of its design, not independent validation. The company’s page links to a fuller methodology and results paper, but its claims here should still be treated as vendor-published until independently verified.
