The A.H. Beard King Koil Alair is discontinued, according to CHOICE, so its published price is historical review data—not a current offer. CHOICE lists it as a firm queen-size pocket-spring mattress, but the detailed test results and expert rating are members-only in the accessible review. That means the public evidence is not enough to recommend it on performance or to identify a proven replacement.
What the Alair review establishes
CHOICE identifies the Alair as a spring mattress and marks it “Discontinued model.” Its listing describes an in-store retail model; the reviewed size is queen, and the claimed firmness is firm. These are the model details published in the review, not an independent assessment of how it feels to an individual sleeper. CHOICE’s King Koil Alair review

Construction and size: listed specifications, not a comfort verdict
CHOICE reports a pocket-spring core with 352 springs per square metre and 14 layers. Its listing gives the mattress weight as 45 kg and thickness as 35 cm. CHOICE says dimensions were not tested, and cover composition is also marked not tested. These figures describe the published listing; by themselves, they do not establish comfort, support, or durability.

What CHOICE’s performance testing can—and cannot—tell you
The review displays categories for support, stability, sagging resistance, breathability, wear, and warmth. However, its detailed results and expert rating are members-only in the accessible review. No public score or test outcome for those categories is established here, so the Alair cannot be ranked or endorsed on that basis.

What the listed prices mean
CHOICE records a listed price of $4,000 and a price paid of $1,750 on sale or after bargaining. The accessible page result does not state the year for either figure. Treat them as the review’s price data, not as current pricing or evidence of a present-day offer.
Can you still buy an Alair, or find a replacement?
CHOICE marks the Alair discontinued, and the available evidence does not establish current Alair stock at any retailer. A.H. Beard’s current King Koil page describes the broader range as made in Australia and names Harvey Norman, Forty Winks, Domayne, and leading independent retailers. That range information does not confirm Alair inventory or establish that a current mattress is its direct successor. A.H. Beard’s King Koil range information

A.H. Beard describes pocket springs and other features on the broader current range, but those brand-level statements are not confirmation of the Alair’s specific materials or performance. The company’s customer testimonials on that page concern other King Koil mattresses, not Alair owners; they cannot fill the gap in model-specific user experience.

How to assess a remaining listing or a current alternative
If you encounter a purported Alair listing, verify the exact model and condition with the seller rather than assuming a current range page means it is in stock. If you are comparing another mattress, use criteria that can be checked directly:
