In the U.S., no single streaming service carries every NFL game. Local Sunday afternoon games are generally on CBS and FOX; national and exclusive games are split among broadcasters and services. Start with the specific matchups you want, then choose a route that covers their game windows and works on your devices.
How to choose the right way to watch
- Check the matchup and its broadcast. Use the NFL’s Ways to Watch page and current local listings. Game assignments can change, including in flex-scheduling windows.
- Separate local from out-of-market games. Local Sunday afternoon broadcasts and out-of-market Sunday afternoon games have different access rules; a service that carries one may not carry the other.
- Check the device you plan to use. NFL+ live regular-season and postseason games are limited to phones and tablets. A TV or desktop may require access through a network app or NFL.com with a supported cable or streaming-provider login.
- Compare your actual subscriptions. Prices and plan terms vary and were not established in the viewing guides cited here. Check current plan pages and account for services you already pay for rather than assuming a universal season cost.
Which service covers each NFL game window?
| Game or viewing need | Starting point | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Local Sunday afternoon games | Local CBS or FOX through an antenna, TV provider, or a streaming service carrying the local station | The local market and that week’s schedule determine the game. Paramount+ may stream local CBS games; check current availability for your area. |
| Sunday Night Football | NBC or Peacock | Confirm the specific matchup and local availability. |
| Monday Night Football | ESPN or ABC through a TV provider or supported service | Access depends on the package and provider. |
| Thursday Night Football and Black Friday | Prime Video | The NFL’s 2026 viewing guide identifies these windows; check the current listing for the game. |
| Select international or Saturday games | NFL Network | NFL Network carries select games, not the full schedule. |
| Week 1 São Paulo game | YouTube | This is a special distribution window; check the NFL listing for current details. |
| Christmas Day games | Netflix | The 2026 NFL guide lists these as exclusive games. |
| Out-of-market Sunday afternoon regular-season games | NFL Sunday Ticket through YouTube TV or as a standalone YouTube Primetime Channel | It covers Sunday afternoon CBS and FOX games not shown on local channels. It excludes local games, national broadcasts, and postseason games. |
| Local and primetime live games on a phone or tablet | NFL+ | Regular-season and postseason live access is limited to local and primetime games on phones and tablets; it is not a live out-of-market Sunday afternoon option. |
| RedZone and game replays | NFL+ Premium or YouTube’s RedZone add-on option | Check current package terms and device support. |
The NFL’s 2026 distribution guide identifies CBS and FOX for local Sunday afternoon games, NBC for Sunday Night Football, ESPN/ABC for Monday Night Football, Prime Video for Thursday Night Football and Black Friday, NFL Network for select games, YouTube for the São Paulo game, and Netflix for Christmas Day games. Broadcasts remain subject to rights, blackouts, and matchup-specific listings. See the NFL’s Ways to Watch page for the current schedule.

Can an antenna replace a streaming subscription?
Possibly for local games. Where local CBS or FOX stations are available over the air and reception is adequate, an antenna can provide a route to those broadcasts without a live-TV streaming plan. Coverage depends on your address, antenna placement, and the stations serving your area, so check local station coverage before buying.

An antenna does not provide out-of-market games or internet-only exclusives such as Prime Video or Netflix games. The NFL also lists provider-based viewing options, including YouTube TV, DirecTV, Xfinity, Spectrum, Hulu, Dish, Sling, Fios, Fubo, and Optimum; availability depends on the provider and matchup.

What NFL Sunday Ticket does—and does not—include
Sunday Ticket is for regular-season Sunday afternoon CBS and FOX games that are out of market. You can get it as an add-on through YouTube TV or as a standalone YouTube Primetime Channel, which does not require a YouTube TV plan.
YouTube TV’s main plan or Sports plan carries local and national NFL broadcasts shown in your area on CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, and NFL Network. Adding Sunday Ticket expands that lineup with eligible out-of-market Sunday afternoon games; it does not turn Sunday Ticket itself into an all-games package. Neither Sunday Ticket option includes local games, national broadcasts, or postseason games. Check Google’s YouTube TV NFL viewing guide for current package details.
What NFL+ includes, and where it works
NFL+ is U.S.-only. During the regular season and postseason, it offers live local and primetime games on phones and tablets, not live out-of-market Sunday afternoon games. The NFL states: “Out-of-market Sunday afternoon games are not available live on NFL+ and require NFL Sunday Ticket.”

Other NFL+ features are distinct from those live-game limits. The NFL’s NFL+ live-games guide, updated July 27, 2025, says NFL+ includes live out-of-market preseason games across supported devices and live audio for every game. NFL+ Premium adds RedZone and full and condensed replays of every game across supported devices. Check current terms before subscribing, since service details can change by season.
Can you watch on a TV or computer?
Do not assume that an NFL app subscription unlocks every live game on every screen. NFL+’s live regular-season and postseason access is for phones and tablets. For connected-TV or desktop viewing through NFL apps or NFL.com, a supported cable or streaming-provider login may be required, depending on the game and rights. A streaming service carrying the relevant network or exclusive game is another route; confirm its device support and the exact matchup before relying on it.

Mostly local Sunday games
Check whether an antenna receives your local CBS and FOX affiliates. If not, compare live-TV plans or other services that carry the relevant local stations in your market. For local CBS games, check whether Paramount+ offers the game in your area.

Local games plus national windows
Choose a live-TV plan only if its local stations and national channels cover the games you watch. You may still need an individual service for an exclusive matchup, such as a Prime Video or Netflix game.

Look at Sunday Ticket through YouTube TV or its standalone YouTube option. If you also want local and national broadcasts, compare the YouTube TV plan lineup with the standalone option and the other services needed for your chosen games.
Watching mainly on a phone or tablet
NFL+ may suit viewers who want local and primetime live games on those devices, plus audio or, with Premium, RedZone and replays. It is not a substitute for Sunday Ticket when the goal is live out-of-market Sunday afternoon games.
Quick Recap
Before you subscribe or tune in
- Verify the game’s current network or streaming service in the NFL’s Ways to Watch listings.
- Check local-market availability, blackouts, and whether a provider login is required.
- Confirm that the plan includes the right game window—not just “NFL” generally.
- Check supported devices for the specific live feature you want; replay and audio access may differ from live video.
- Review current prices and plan terms on the provider’s own page, since the viewing guides do not establish a reliable season-wide total.
