FC 27 makes match rewards more substantial than EA’s stated FC 26 baseline, but EA has not published a universal Coins-per-hour rate or a reliable money-versus-time break-even point. The useful comparison is personal: your squad goal, your own play results, your budget, and how much uncertainty you can tolerate.
What changed about earning Coins in FC 27?
EA’s 2026 FC 27 launch update says Champions and Rivals can award several times more FUT Coins per match than the approximately 500–600 Coins commonly earned per match in FC 26. EA also says Squad Battles rewards have increased. This is the publisher’s comparison with its FC 26 baseline, not an independently measured Coins-per-hour result; your actual return still depends on the mode, results, time played, and current reward design.
Eligible matches can also award 15–100 Season Points, depending on the result and mode, up to 850 points per day. Season Points are a separate progression currency, not Coins, so do not count them as spendable balance when estimating the cost of a player.

EA says players can earn Coins by playing Ultimate Team matches, collecting mode rewards, and selling items at fair prices on the Transfer Market. The market is a legitimate way to turn tradeable items into Coins, but not a fixed-rate substitute for match rewards: item values move with demand.

When does paying to save time make sense?
There is no official break-even figure that applies to every player. To make a useful decision, compare the time cost of a defined squad goal with a spending limit you are comfortable with. Use your own results rather than an invented general earning rate:
- Choose the upgrade. Identify the player or squad improvement you actually want, then check its current in-game market cost. Prices can change, so use the live market rather than an old estimate.
- Measure your own earning pace. Play a representative block of your usual eligible modes and record the Coins you earn. Treat that as your personal result for those sessions, not a universal rate.
- Estimate the time involved. Compare the Coins still needed with your observed match and reward earnings. Consider whether that amount of play fits the time you have available.
- Set a spending ceiling. Decide what, if anything, you would pay before buying FC Points. Compare that amount with the value you place on the time you would otherwise spend—and account for the fact that packs and picks may not contain the item you want.
- Recheck before acting. FC 27 is a live-service mode: rewards, pack probabilities, and Transfer Market prices can change. Base the choice on what is available at the time, not a past price or reward.
Time-saving is most defensible when the goal and budget are clear and you are comfortable paying for a chance at items rather than a guaranteed result. If the target player is the point of the exercise, spending on randomized packs is not equivalent to buying that player or directly buying Coins.

Why FC Points are not a shortcut to guaranteed Coins
FC Points are a separate paid currency. EA lists the Ultimate Team Store, platform stores, trusted retailers, and physical retailer cards as purchase channels. Points can be used for packs or picks, whose probabilities are disclosed by EA; those probabilities describe chances, not a promise of a useful item, a particular player, or a predictable amount of time saved. Check the applicable probability information before spending.

EA’s safety guidance says: “You can earn Coins in EAS FC Ultimate Team™ by playing matches or selling Items on the Transfer Market, but you can’t purchase Coins.” Third-party Coin purchases and Coin distribution are against EA’s rules. EA also prohibits automated market tools, including bots and auto-buyers; its rules warn against illegitimate Coin farming and identify possible penalties such as Coin removal or Club deletion.
