To remove ads from a Kindle lock screen, sign in to the Amazon account linked to the e-reader, open Manage Your Devices, select the Kindle, and choose Remove offers under Special Offers. Amazon shows the one-time fee before you confirm. If you want to keep the ads but filter potentially unsuitable content, use the Kindle’s ad-filter setting instead.
Remove Special Offers from your Kindle
- Sign in to the Amazon account associated with the Kindle and open Manage Your Devices (also called Manage Your Content and Devices).
- Select Devices, then choose the Kindle e-reader that displays the ads.
- Under Special Offers, select Remove offers.
- Review the price shown for that device. If you want to continue, select End Offers and Pay the Fee. Amazon says the payment method is charged once.
The amount shown on your device page is the relevant price. Amazon’s help information does not establish a single fee for every Kindle or marketplace, so do not rely on an amount quoted for a different device or region.
What changes when you remove the ads?
Amazon calls Kindle lock-screen ads Special Offers or sponsored screensavers. On eligible e-readers, they can appear on the sleep screen and as sponsored content on the Home screen. Amazon’s Kindle guide says they do not appear within a book. Removing offers is the option for turning off those ads on the selected device; it is not the same as hiding only certain kinds of ads.
Amazon explains that it can offer some device models at a subsidized price by including personalized advertising. Its removal flow presents the fee for the particular Kindle before payment.

If “Remove offers” is missing
- Check the selected device. Make sure you chose the Kindle that actually displays the ads, rather than another Kindle or a Fire tablet.
- Check the Amazon account. The page must be for the account that manages the e-reader.
- Contact local Amazon support if the control still does not appear. Amazon Staff support replies have indicated that removal availability may depend on marketplace or region. That guidance is not a guarantee of current availability everywhere; ask support for the account and marketplace you use.
Filter ads without removing Special Offers
Some Kindle software versions provide a filter for ads that may include images or content unsuitable for all audiences. This does not unsubscribe the device from Special Offers, and ads can remain visible.

- From the Home screen, open Quick Actions or Menu.
- Open Settings or All Settings, then choose Your Account.
- Select Lockscreen ads and turn on Filter Ads or Filter Special Offers, depending on the label shown.
Choose between removing and filtering
