First check Fluxguard’s Page View: is there a new capture from after the site changed, and does that capture contain the changed content? If there is no capture, troubleshoot the crawl or schedule. If the capture is missing the content, check rendering, login, or actions. If the content appears but no version or alert followed, check the comparison trigger, filters, and notification settings.
1. Check whether Fluxguard captured the page after the change
Open the monitored page’s history in Page View and compare its latest capture with the known change. Fluxguard’s initial crawl establishes a baseline that can include a screenshot, complete HTML, extracted text, and a HAR network profile; Page View retains earlier captures and related evidence. Confirm that the baseline and later capture refer to the intended URL and page state. A missing or stale capture points to crawling or setup, not yet to a comparison failure. See Fluxguard’s web console walkthrough and visual monitoring guide.
Run a crawl after a known change
From the session view, start a manual crawl, then inspect the new capture against the prior one. Verify whether the exact changed text, image, or page element is present. Fluxguard documents manual recrawling in its website monitoring tutorial. A page being reachable at its URL does not establish that the expected content was captured.
Verify the session schedule
Check Session Settings for the crawl frequency and confirm that a crawl was scheduled after the source page changed. Fluxguard documents configurable frequencies; its frequency guide says very fast intervals require site verification by email. Confirm the current account’s settings and verification state in the console, since availability and behavior can be account-specific. See Fluxguard’s frequency guide.

2. If the capture exists, check whether it contains the right page state
Modern pages may populate content through JavaScript, and some content appears only after an interaction. Fluxguard’s FAQ describes its use of a full browser for dynamic pages. If the content requires a click, form submission, login, or multi-page flow, inspect the configured actions and session order, then confirm that the resulting capture shows the state a visitor sees. Consult the Fluxguard FAQ and console walkthrough.
Check authentication and interactions
- For login-protected pages, verify that the session is authenticated when the crawl runs.
- For content revealed by a click or form, verify that the action is configured in the right order and that the capture occurs after it.
- For pages that load content asynchronously, inspect the captured text, HTML, screenshot, and network details rather than relying on the URL alone.
3. If the content is captured, check the comparison trigger
A capture can contain a change without causing the version trigger you expect. Match the primary comparison strategy to the kind of change. Fluxguard’s tutorial says extracted text is the default primary strategy; HTML and network analyses may be secondary after the primary strategy records a version. Check the configured primary trigger in the session rather than assuming every comparison type independently creates a new version. See the monitoring tutorial and visual guide.

| What changed? | Comparison to inspect | What it is suited to reveal |
|---|---|---|
| Visible wording | Extracted text | Changes to text end users see |
| Markup or attributes | HTML/DOM | Structural or attribute changes that may not alter visible wording |
| Appearance, CSS, or images | Visual | Pixel-level or rendered visual differences |
| Resources or requests | Network | New or removed network activity |
For a controlled visual check, Fluxguard’s guide recommends selecting or creating a page with an obvious visible change, recrawling, and inspecting the visual diff. A visual change is not necessarily a text change, so a text-focused trigger may not be the right test.
4. Review filters and blocked resources
Filters can suppress a genuine change if they exclude the changed area or ignore the relevant text, selector, or attribute. Network blocks can prevent scripts or resources needed to render the content. Review inclusion and exclusion filters, CSS selectors, keyword focus, selector ignores, attribute ignores, and network blocks, including whether each rule applies at the account, session, or page level. Make one narrow change at a time and recrawl to see its effect. Fluxguard notes in its release notes that removing script tags can stop scripts from running and keep a page from fully rendering.

Use the least destructive adjustment
- If a selector exclusion removes the changed region, narrow or remove that exclusion.
- If a blocked request prevents the desired content from loading, review the block before changing comparison settings.
- For some HTML comparison cases, a post-capture selector ignore may be preferable to removing an element before rendering, since early removal can alter page behavior.
- Fluxguard says selectors do not work on every page. Its Visual Selector depends on the most recently captured version; if it fails, complete an initial crawl and try a manual selector method.
These cautions and filter behaviors are covered in Fluxguard’s false-positive guide, specific-area filter guide, network-block guide, and FAQ. False-positive controls can suppress irrelevant dynamic dates, banners, sidebars, tracking scripts, or marketing resources, but they do not prove that the meaningful change was captured. Inspect the capture and diff after adjusting a rule.
5. If the diff shows a change but no email arrived
When a version or diff records the change, treat comparison and delivery as separate checks. Inspect account alert frequency and configured delivery or integrations. Fluxguard’s console tutorial describes email-frequency settings, and its visual guide mentions webhooks. Public documentation does not establish the delivery state of a particular account, so check the relevant settings and delivery records in your console rather than concluding that detection failed. See the console walkthrough and visual monitoring guide.
6. When the version view looks wrong
A comparison viewer can differ from the page as it originally rendered. Fluxguard says its version views approximate underlying HTML in iframes and remove JavaScript and some resources to provide a tamper-free view. If the view appears blank or incomplete, inspect the underlying screenshot, captured HTML, extracted text, and network details before deciding the crawl failed. See the Fluxguard FAQ and web console walkthrough.

When to escalate
If a manual recrawl still does not capture the expected page state, preserve the affected URL, capture time, screenshot, extracted text, HTML, network evidence, and applicable session settings. This evidence helps distinguish a crawl/rendering issue from a comparison or delivery setting when asking Fluxguard support for account-specific help.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a missing email mean Fluxguard did not detect the change?
No. If the version history or diff records it, check alert frequency and delivery settings separately.
Can a visual change be missed by text monitoring?
Yes. A visual-only change may not alter extracted text; use the comparison trigger suited to the change.
