Use Google Takeout when you want an archive of your account data, not just one playlist. Browser extensions may suit workflows that need advertised features such as importing a playlist back into YouTube, but check their limits, supported playlist types, and permissions first.

A playlist export is generally a snapshot. Video availability, public metrics, and metadata may change, and some unavailable videos or fields may be missing.
Export one playlist as CSV, text, or Excel
Use CSV for a portable, structured copy
CSV stores data as rows and columns in a plain-text file. It is a practical choice for opening a playlist in spreadsheet software, importing it into another tool, or working with it in scripts. A focused web exporter advertises CSV for public or accessible unlisted playlists without YouTube sign-in. Its guide describes a header row, one row per available video, UTF-8 encoding, and quoting for commas and line breaks. Confirm the current output fields and limits on the exporter before relying on them.
Choose text for a simple readable list
If you only need a list that is easy to read or copy, text may be enough. The researched exporter offers it as an optional format, but the available details do not establish that text preserves structured metadata as consistently as CSV.

Choose Excel when manual review matters
An XLSX workbook is more convenient when you want a formatted worksheet to inspect. The exporter guide says its Excel output preserves column widths and wraps long descriptions. If you want both easy reading and a source file for automation, keep the workbook and CSV rather than treating them as interchangeable.
Check access and missing items
- The exporter describes support for public and accessible unlisted playlists. Its guide says its public-API route cannot read private playlists.
- Deleted, private, age-restricted, region-restricted, or otherwise unavailable videos may be omitted or have less metadata.
- Public metrics in an exported file are snapshots, not live values; some metrics may not be available.
- The guide published July 21, 2026 states a launch-version limit of up to 500 videos per playlist. That is a vendor-stated limit, not an independently tested result, and may change.
Use Google Takeout for an account-data archive
Google Takeout lets you select Google data and create an archive delivered by download link or to a cloud destination. It is suited to saving account data, rather than producing a ready-to-review spreadsheet for a single selected playlist. Google recommends downloading and viewing Takeout exports on a desktop. The archive includes archive_browser.html, which points to information about its contents and formats.

- Available formats depend on the service and data type. HTML can be opened in a browser; CSV and JSON can be opened in common desktop software.
- Archives can be split into multiple files, expire after about seven days, and can be downloaded up to five times.
- Takeout’s archive export is distinct from Google’s YouTube Music playlist-transfer feature.
Consider extensions for extra workflow features
Browser extensions advertise options beyond a basic file export, but their listing claims are not independent verification of privacy, reliability, or completeness. Check the current Chrome Web Store listing, supported playlist types, requested permissions, and limits before installing.

The listing details and limits can change. Exporting and importing are different actions: if you only need a public playlist file, do not grant account access for an import feature you will not use.

Move a YouTube Music playlist to another service
Google’s direct transfer feature copies eligible created playlists to supported music services; it is not a general-purpose file export. Transfers are one-time copies, so later edits do not sync. Google says saved playlists created by other users cannot be transferred this way. It also lists exclusions including curated playlists, Liked Music, collaborative playlists you do not own, user-uploaded or private content, and podcasts. Tracks may be left out if the destination service does not have them. Check Google’s current YouTube Music transfer guidance for supported destinations and eligibility.
