Streamlabs Network Boost is intended to improve connection reliability for mobile and IRL streams, not to make the video itself sharper or higher-resolution. Streamlabs says it uses multiple internet connections to help a stream stay connected as network conditions change. The available product information does not quantify how much it reduces interruptions or dropped frames, and it does not establish an improvement in resolution, encoding quality, or image fidelity.
What Network Boost is designed to improve
Network Boost is a feature configured in Streamlabs Mobile. Streamlabs describes it as combining multiple available internet connections—such as Wi-Fi and cellular data—to support a mobile stream when network conditions change. Its intended benefit is greater reliability: fewer interruptions or network-related dropped frames when one connection weakens. That is Streamlabs’ stated purpose, not a guarantee or an independently measured result.
This is a distinction between delivery and fidelity. A stream that stays connected more consistently may be easier to watch, but that does not mean its resolution, encoder, detail, or sharpness has improved.
How it works and what a setup may require
Streamlabs’ support guide describes a common arrangement with a primary streaming device and a second device acting as a relay or boost device; the relay can host a hotspot. More advanced arrangements involving a router or three or more devices or connections use Streamlabs Controller to connect and manage those connections. The precise setup depends on the devices and connections available.

- Wide Compatibility: With the RJ45 Connector, network cable can be perfectly compatible with computers, laptops, modems, routers, PS5, X-Box and other networking devices. It can also be fully backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6e, Cat6, Cat5e, Cat5
According to Streamlabs’ guide, the listed prerequisites include an active Streamlabs Ultra or Ultra+ subscription and access to more than one internet connection. At launch, the primary streaming device must be iOS; a secondary device may be iOS or Android. These are product requirements that can change, so check Streamlabs’ current setup guide before planning around a particular operating system or subscription.
A dedicated IRL backpack, encoder, router, or hardware bonding system is not required according to Streamlabs. A creator may be able to use existing Wi-Fi, cellular data, or a hotspot; some configurations do require a second device as a relay. A portable Wi-Fi hotspot is one optional way to supply another connection, not a required purchase or a proven video-quality upgrade.

When it may help—and when it will not address the cause
Network Boost is most relevant when a mobile or IRL stream relies on a connection that actually fluctuates and there is another usable connection available. It is less relevant if the stream is already stable or if the fault lies elsewhere. Before changing tools, identify what is failing:
- Possible network problem: interruptions or dropped frames that coincide with weak or changing connectivity. Network Boost is intended to address this kind of reliability problem.
- Encoder or hardware problem: encoding overload or CPU/GPU trouble will not be fixed simply by adding an internet connection. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting guidance treats network, encoding, and hardware issues as distinct causes.
- Image-quality configuration: resolution, bitrate, and encoder settings are separate from Network Boost. The sources do not show that Boost raises resolution or improves an encoder.
A speed-test upload result by itself does not establish that a connection will remain stable during a live stream. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting material recommends distinguishing network-related dropped frames from encoding or hardware issues by assessing the actual stream.

How to judge whether it improves your stream
Do not infer a benefit just because the feature is enabled or because a stream looks good once. A useful comparison is a controlled, like-for-like test: compare otherwise similar streams with Network Boost off and on in the same location and time window. Record connection changes, dropped frames, interruptions, stream bitrate, and viewer playback. Note the platform, devices, subscription tier, and network conditions so the result has context.
This is a suggested way to evaluate the feature, not a test result. Streamlabs’ product and support pages explain the intended benefit and setup, but do not provide an independent controlled comparison, a quantified effect size, or a verified percentage reduction in interruptions or dropped frames. How much it helps under particular conditions therefore remains unestablished by those sources.

- Cat 8 Speed, Cat 5/5e Value Enjoy Cat 8 Ethernet cable performance at a Cat 5/5e-level value. With up to 40Gbps speed and 2000MHz bandwidth, this high speed internet cable delivers more bandwidth than standard Cat 5 and Cat 5e cables, helping support smooth gaming, streaming, video calls, large file transfers and everyday wired network use.
- 40Gbps Speed, Wide Compatibility This Cat 8 Ethernet cable supports up to 40Gbps data transfer and 2000MHz bandwidth for fast, reliable internet performance. Standard RJ45 connectors are backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6, Cat6a and Cat5e devices, including routers, modems, switches, gaming PCs, PS5, PS4, Xbox, smart TVs, laptops and printers.
- Stable U/FTP Shielding Each of the 4 twisted pairs is individually wrapped with aluminum foil to help reduce crosstalk, noise, and signal interference. Combined with RJ45 connectors on both ends, the U/FTP design helps maintain cleaner signal transmission for a stable and reliable wired network connection.
- Nylon Braided Durability The nylon braided jacket adds everyday durability while keeping the cable flexible and easy to route. Reinforced construction helps the cord handle bending, pulling and frequent plugging, making it a reliable choice for desks, gaming rooms, home offices and long-term network setups.
- 50ft Reach for More Setups The 50 ft length makes it easier to connect devices across rooms, along walls, under desks or around corners. Great for router-to-PC connections, modem-to-TV setups, gaming consoles, workstations, printers and other home network equipment that needs a longer Ethernet cable.
Network Boost versus Dynamic Bitrate
These are separate features, not two names for the same mechanism. Streamlabs describes Network Boost as a mobile feature that uses multiple internet connections to support reliability. Streamlabs’ separate Dynamic Bitrate feature in Streamlabs Desktop can lower bitrate when network problems cause dropped frames, then gradually move back toward the selected target as conditions recover. Dynamic Bitrate adjusts bitrate; it should not be described as mobile connection bonding.

- Confirm the problem is connectivity-related. Look at what happens during the actual stream; a speed test alone cannot show whether the connection is stable enough throughout.
- Check the available paths. Network Boost depends on more than one usable internet connection. If the secondary connection is unavailable or weak, the feature cannot provide the intended additional path.
- Verify current eligibility and setup. Streamlabs lists an Ultra or Ultra+ subscription, multiple connections, and an iOS primary device at launch. Check the current official guide for changes and follow its device or Controller instructions for your configuration.
- Separate network drops from encoder or hardware trouble. If the problem is encoding or CPU/GPU load, adding connectivity is not a fix; troubleshoot that cause separately.
- Assess outcomes rather than assuming them. Compare interruptions and network-related dropped frames under similar conditions with the feature on and off before concluding that it helped.
Or let it run in the cloud
Network Boost addresses mobile connection reliability; it is not a way to run a prerecorded video as a continuous YouTube stream. If your goal is a 24/7 YouTube channel built from uploaded recordings or a playlist, StreamNeo is a different option: upload your video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The cloud keeps it running without a computer or home connection staying on. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
