If images are missing from a BrowserCat screenshot, first check whether they had loaded in the browser at capture time. The usual possibilities are timing, lazy loading, failed or blocked image requests, or the site serving an access challenge or altered page. Inspect the page in the same browser session before changing your screenshot code.
First, identify what the browser rendered
A screenshot records the rendered page at the moment of capture. Before changing settings, inspect the page in the same session immediately before taking the screenshot.
- Check whether the image elements exist and whether their source URLs are populated.
- Look for placeholders, broken-image icons, consent overlays, or an access challenge.
- Compare the page’s visible state with the screenshot. If the images are already absent in the session, the capture itself may be working as expected.
BrowserCat’s quick start documents taking screenshots with Playwright and connecting to its cloud browser. The reviewed BrowserCat pages do not document a dedicated missing-images or “wait for images” screenshot setting. See BrowserCat’s quick start and its configuration documentation.
Wait for images or a reliable readiness signal
A capture can happen before images finish loading. General screenshot guidance recommends waiting for the required images or for a page element that signals the content is ready. Browserless documents this general timing issue, but its provider-specific option names should not be treated as BrowserCat settings: Browserless screenshot guidance.

#1 Best Overall
With BrowserCat, use the wait mechanism supported by the Playwright or Puppeteer API version in your project. BrowserCat says it supports Playwright, Puppeteer, and CDP-based libraries, and recommends Playwright for new users; check BrowserCat’s product documentation and your chosen library’s documentation for the current API. Avoid copying another provider’s option such as waitForImages and assuming BrowserCat accepts it.
Scroll to trigger lazy-loaded images
Many pages defer loading images until they approach the visible viewport. A full-page capture does not necessarily cause every below-the-fold image to load first. Scroll through the sections containing missing images, allow their requests to complete, and then take the final screenshot. If the screenshot must begin at the top, return to the top after scrolling.

Browserless describes scrolling as a way to trigger lazy loading in its general screenshot guidance; this is a transferable browser troubleshooting technique, not a BrowserCat-specific guarantee: Browserless screenshot documentation.
Inspect image requests when waiting and scrolling fail
If the images remain missing, inspect the image element’s current source and the corresponding network request in the same session. Check for failed responses, redirects, authorization requirements, expired signed URLs, hotlink protection, mixed-content restrictions, or content-policy blocks. These checks help distinguish a page or network problem from a screenshot timing problem; the BrowserCat pages reviewed do not establish any of these as a BrowserCat defect.

Separate access challenges from image-loading problems
A blank page, CAPTCHA, 403/access-denied response, or page that looks substantially different from an ordinary visit can indicate that the site is restricting automation. Browserless lists these as general symptoms of blocking, not a BrowserCat-specific diagnosis: Browserless Screenshot API guidance.
When you see a challenge, investigate the site’s access rules and whether automated access is permitted. Do not assume that changing browser providers or adding a proxy will bypass the site’s controls.

When a proxy may matter
A proxy is worth investigating when access to the page or its image host may depend on region or IP address. BrowserCat supports configuring a third-party proxy, but says it does not include a built-in proxy service. A proxy is not the first fix for a capture that happens too early or for images that have not been triggered by scrolling. See BrowserCat’s third-party proxy documentation.
Choose the next diagnostic step
| Clue | Next step | Evidence boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Images appear eventually, or results vary with timing | Wait for the needed images or a stable readiness element before capture. | General screenshot guidance from Browserless; a BrowserCat-specific wait option is not established. |
| Images are missing mainly lower on a long page | Scroll through the relevant sections to trigger lazy loading, then capture. | General browser troubleshooting guidance from Browserless. |
| Broken requests, a blank page, CAPTCHA, 403, or altered content | Inspect page state and image requests; investigate access rules and, where relevant, region/IP-dependent access. | Blocking symptoms are general clues from Browserless. BrowserCat supports external proxy configuration but does not bundle a proxy service. |

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its clean-shot handling accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. AI agents can use its MCP server with tools including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
For a quick WebP capture, replace the URL with the page you need and use your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for setup and options.

FAQ
Does BrowserCat have a dedicated wait-for-images setting?
The BrowserCat pages reviewed document screenshot automation, but do not identify a dedicated missing-images or wait-for-images setting. Use the supported wait mechanisms in your Playwright or Puppeteer version.
Does a full-page screenshot automatically load every lazy image?
Not necessarily. Lazy-loaded images may need to enter the viewport before the page requests them, so scroll through the relevant content before capture.
