The documented default is 120x90. A height of full, as in 1024xfull, intentionally requests a full-page image, not a fixed-height viewport capture. If the image dimensions are correct but the content looks wrong, check device, zoom, crop, selector, and loading delay instead.
First distinguish the canvas from the page layout
“Wrong page size” can mean two different things:
- Wrong output dimensions: the downloaded image has more or fewer pixels than intended. Start with
dimension. - Wrong-looking content: the image has the expected pixel dimensions, but the site looks too large, too small, clipped, or arranged for the wrong screen. Check the rendering and region controls below.
ScreenshotMachine documents dimension as [width]x[height]. Width must be 100–1920 pixels; numeric height must be 100–9999 pixels. It also documents full as a height value. See the ScreenshotMachine API parameter reference.
Set the requested width and height
- Find the request your application actually sends and check that it contains the intended
dimensionvalue in width-by-height order, such as1366x768. - If you want a fixed-height capture, use a numeric height. A value such as
1024xfullasks for the full webpage height and can create a much taller image than a viewport capture. - If your application omits
dimension, account for the documented default of120x90; do not assume a client library supplies the dimensions you expect. - Download the resulting image and inspect its actual pixel width and height. Compare those values with the requested canvas dimensions before investigating visual scale or layout.
Check the other settings that change what you see

Choose the device and dimensions before using zoom to tune scale. ScreenshotMachine’s generator describes device type as affecting how modern pages look; its examples pair desktop with 1024x768, phone with 480x800, and tablet with 800x1280. Allow long pages time to load
For a full-page capture, a correct canvas request does not guarantee that late-loading content will be ready. ScreenshotMachine recommends a larger delay—such as delay=2000 or more—for long pages with images or animations. Delay concerns readiness, not width and height; it will not correct an incorrect dimension value.
When the image still has unexpected dimensions
If a valid explicit dimension request still produces an unexpected pixel canvas, preserve the exact URL and encoded parameters and compare the requested dimensions with the downloaded file’s pixel dimensions. Include device, zoom, crop, and selector in the record, and note whether you used full. The reviewed public documentation does not establish a specific internal cause or support remedy for this residual case, so avoid assuming a particular rendering defect.
