Does Browse AI Work with JavaScript-Heavy Websites?

Browse AI can handle many JavaScript-rendered pages, but timing, interactions, authentication, and anti-bot controls affect whether a robot succeeds.

Yes. Browse AI says its Robot Studio runs JavaScript during both training and extraction, so it can handle many client-rendered pages and content that appears after the initial load. That is a documented capability, not a guarantee for every site: page timing, required interactions, authentication, browser requirements, and anti-bot controls can all affect a run.

Which Browse AI studio should you use?

Use Table Studio for visible data

Choose Table Studio when the information you want is already visible on the page. If the site needs clicks, typing, scrolling, or a password login before the data appears, use Robot Studio instead. Browse AI says Robot Studio follows the behavior you record.

Use Robot Studio for content revealed by interaction

  1. Open the target page in Robot Studio and allow the page to finish loading before selecting content.
  2. Reproduce the interaction that reveals the data: for example, click a tab, enter a search term, expand a panel, log in, or scroll to a lazy-loaded region.
  3. Wait until the actual text or numbers appear and stop changing, then select the content to extract.
  4. Run a test extraction on the target site and check the returned fields before scaling up.

Browse AI’s guidance for complex JavaScript applications suggests allowing roughly 3–5 seconds for the page to stabilize during training. Treat that as a starting point, not a universal wait time: watch for spinners or skeleton screens to disappear and verify that the data itself has loaded. For lazy-loaded content, scroll to the relevant region and wait before capturing it. Browse AI: Working with JavaScript-rendered content

What JavaScript-heavy content can it handle?

Browse AI documents support for AJAX-loaded content, single-page applications, lazy-loaded content, real-time updates, and forms or panels that show information after interaction. In practical terms, it can extract from a page whose visible data is populated or updated by JavaScript, provided the required content has rendered when the robot runs.

For WebSocket or other real-time updates, the robot captures the state available at run time; Browse AI says it cannot wait for a particular future value. Canvas and WebGL output can be captured as images, but their graphics cannot be extracted as text. These are vendor-described capabilities and limits. Browse AI: JavaScript-rendered content

What can prevent a successful extraction?

  • Content has not loaded yet: JavaScript errors, slow or sequential requests, or special browser requirements may prevent rendering or leave fields missing.
  • Only part of a list exists in the page: Virtual lists that render only currently visible rows are listed as unsupported.
  • The data is inside an iframe: Direct interaction with iframes is unsupported. If the frame has its own URL, Browse AI suggests trying that URL separately.
  • Login requires additional verification: MFA/2FA is unsupported.
  • Security controls block automation: Custom CAPTCHAs are unsupported, and high-security bot detection can block some sites.
  • The desired value is in a graphic: Canvas and WebGL content may be captured visually, but not read as text.

Browse AI’s compatibility article, published February 20, 2025, reports that over 90% of newly created custom robots succeed. This is a vendor-published figure, not independent testing or a prediction for a particular JavaScript-heavy site. Product limits and compatibility can change. How to troubleshoot missing or incomplete data

  1. Check the page in a normal browser. Confirm the data appears for your account and location before debugging the robot.
  2. Wait for the data, not just the page shell. Increase the wait or use the visible completion state—such as a result table replacing a spinner—as the cue to continue.
  3. Record the reveal steps again. Reproduce the click, typing, scroll, or login needed to expose the information; selecting the page before that point can capture an empty structure.
  4. Inspect sequentially loaded fields. If some values arrive after others, allow additional time and test whether the missing fields become visible before extraction.
  5. Check for an alternate route. Browse AI suggests looking for an accessible non-JavaScript page or API when the rendered page is difficult to capture.
  6. Escalate site-specific failures. If the content is visible and the needed interactions are recorded but extraction still fails, contact Browse AI support.

If you need a screenshot rather than structured extracted data, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one GET request. It is not a replacement for a robot that extracts fields or performs a multi-step workflow.

Its API can accept cookie banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with the response indicating the page verdict and billing status. AI agents can use its MCP server tools: take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf. The free plan includes 1,000 shots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation. Example request:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
