What Vimeo plan can keep a YouTube stream live 24/7?
Vimeo distinguishes between sending a live event to YouTube and keeping an event running continuously. Its Help Center says YouTube simulcasting requires Advanced or Premium, or Enterprise with the Events feature. Separately, Vimeo’s live-events FAQ says Advanced and Premium streams have a 12-hour limit per stream. Enterprise has a 24/7 extension available as an add-on.
That means an Advanced or Premium subscription alone does not meet a 24/7 requirement. Vimeo describes the Enterprise extension as an add-on, but does not publish its price in the reviewed public materials. Confirm with Vimeo whether the option is available for your account and obtain the full quote, including applicable terms.

Plan terms and pricing can change and may vary by location, billing interval, or promotion. The $75 figure is Vimeo’s displayed Advanced price billed annually, not a quote for continuous streaming. Check Vimeo’s live-streaming plans and confirm current details with Vimeo before subscribing.

How to estimate the actual cost
For a continuous stream, the meaningful figure is the full Enterprise quote, not the public Advanced price. Ask Vimeo to itemize:
- The Enterprise subscription price and billing interval.
- The 24/7 add-on price, how it is billed, and whether it is available for your event setup.
- Any additional stream capacity you need beyond the included concurrent streams.
- Applicable bandwidth terms and any costs or restrictions relevant to your expected audience.
- Whether the proposed configuration can meet your target resolution, frame rate, and bitrate.
Vimeo’s live-events FAQ states a 2 TB/month bandwidth policy. It recommends contacting support in advance for very large events, using its own thresholds of 50,000+ viewers outside the United States or 100,000–150,000+ viewers within the United States. These are Vimeo’s stated guidance thresholds, not independent audience-capacity benchmarks.

How to send a Vimeo event to YouTube
You can connect a YouTube account directly in Vimeo or send the event using YouTube’s RTMP details. The exact path depends on which method you choose.
Direct YouTube account connection
- Verify the YouTube account. YouTube requires a verified account to go live.
- Open the Vimeo event’s Destinations settings. Add or connect YouTube there, then enable the YouTube destination before you go live.
- Check the event description. Vimeo warns that angle brackets in the description may prevent the YouTube stream.
- Start the Vimeo stream. For a scheduled YouTube event, you may need to select Go live manually in YouTube’s Live Control Room after Vimeo begins streaming.
Vimeo says its direct integration supports up to 10 destinations at once. That destination limit is separate from how long an individual event can run.

Custom RTMP destination
- In YouTube Studio, open the scheduled stream’s Live Control Room and copy its RTMP URL and stream key.
- In Vimeo, add a custom RTMP destination to the event and paste in the YouTube RTMP URL and stream key.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to your YouTube event; reset it in YouTube if it is exposed.
- Start the Vimeo stream and check YouTube’s Live Control Room. If the event is scheduled, manually select Go live if YouTube has not started the broadcast automatically.
Vimeo says custom RTMP supports up to 20 destinations at once. Its service also requires a reliable internet connection and a camera connected to a supported encoder; this is relevant to producing the event, but does not change the 12-hour limit on Advanced or Premium.
Encoder settings and plan limits to check
YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension to RTMP, for encoder-based live streaming. Its official encoder guidance lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 video encoding; up to 60 fps; CBR bitrate encoding; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval, not over four seconds. Choose settings for your resolution and frame rate, and make sure your upload connection can sustain the output.

Vimeo’s own live-events FAQ lists different plan ceilings: Advanced and Premium support up to 5,000 kbps and up to 30 fps for live events; Enterprise supports up to 9,000 kbps and up to 60 fps. YouTube’s guidance is not a guarantee that a Vimeo plan, encoder, or connection supports every combination. Confirm the intended settings with Vimeo and test the full destination workflow before scheduling an important event.

Copyright and YouTube live-stream rules
A continuous broadcast still has to comply with YouTube’s rules and the rights attached to the content. Before using recordings in a loop, confirm that you have the necessary rights to the video, music, and any other included material. A live-streaming setup or a cloud host does not grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted work. Also check YouTube’s current requirements for going live and make sure the account is verified before the first broadcast.

- YouTube is not listed as a destination: confirm the Vimeo plan and, for Enterprise, that the Events feature is included; reconnect the YouTube account or use the custom RTMP route.
- The stream appears to start in Vimeo but not on YouTube: check the event’s destination is enabled, confirm the YouTube account is verified, and use Go live in Live Control Room for a scheduled stream if required.
- The YouTube event rejects or fails to ingest: recheck the RTMP URL and stream key, verify the chosen encoder settings, and remove angle brackets from the Vimeo event description.
- A stream stops after 12 hours: this matches the stated per-stream limit on Advanced and Premium. A 24/7 requirement needs Vimeo Enterprise with the add-on, subject to confirmation with Vimeo.
- Video stutters or drops: check that the upload connection is reliable and can sustain the encoder’s bitrate; use YouTube’s recommended CBR approach and an appropriate resolution and frame rate.
- The desired frame rate or bitrate is unavailable: compare the settings with Vimeo’s plan ceilings and ask Vimeo to confirm support for the exact configuration before purchase.
