You can stream prerecorded videos to YouTube around the clock without leaving a computer running: use a cloud streaming service as the encoder, connect it to a YouTube live stream with the stream URL and key, then start playback from the service’s dashboard. The cloud service sends the feed; YouTube still requires an eligible channel and valid live-stream credentials.
What you need before starting
- A YouTube channel eligible to live stream. YouTube requires channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and a streamer who is at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of your planned start. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance
- A cloud service that can continuously play prerecorded video and send it to YouTube. The provider acts as your encoder; your own computer does not need to encode the stream all day.
- The video files you want to play, uploaded to the service or otherwise available through its supported workflow.
- A YouTube stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. Treat the key as a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
Choose a cloud dashboard
For a prerecorded 24/7 loop, StreamNeo is the first option to consider: it runs continuously from the cloud, supports uploaded video at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and includes a free first day. YouTube’s verified encoder list also names Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded video. Treat that listing as an example, not a confirmation of Gyre’s current features, price, service guarantees, or availability.
When assessing any provider, check whether it supports continuous looping, the ingest protocol and output settings you intend to use, interruption recovery and alerts, upload and storage limits, operating regions, and current pricing or uptime commitments. YouTube’s documentation does not establish those vendor-specific terms. AWS Elemental MediaLive also appears on YouTube’s encoder list as a broadcast-grade processing service; that listing alone does not establish a turnkey dashboard or a prerecorded-video looping feature.
Create a YouTube live stream and connect it
- Confirm access. In YouTube Studio, verify that live streaming is available for your channel. If this is your first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- Create or select the stream. Open YouTube Studio, enter Live Control Room, and create a stream or select an existing one. YouTube provides a server or stream URL and a stream key in the stream’s settings. Follow the current YouTube live-stream setup instructions for the exact screen labels.
- Configure the cloud dashboard. In the provider’s YouTube or encoder settings, enter the YouTube URL and stream key, or choose a YouTube preset if available. Confirm the dashboard and the YouTube stream are configured for a protocol both support.
- Add and arrange your videos. Upload the prerecorded files and configure the playlist or looping behavior offered by the service. Check the order, transitions, audio, and what the dashboard does when a file ends or becomes unavailable.
- Start a test feed. Start the stream from the dashboard, then wait for its preview in Live Control Room. Check that the picture and sound are correct and that the intended watch page is reachable before relying on the broadcast.
- Go live and monitor. Use the provider’s dashboard and YouTube Live Control Room to confirm the stream remains healthy. Decide in advance how you will respond to a dropped feed, a failed upload, or an alert; recovery and monitoring features vary by provider.
Choose an ingest protocol that both sides support
YouTube documents RTMPS and HLS ingestion. RTMPS is RTMP protected by TLS/SSL, encrypting the feed in transit. HLS is an option for HDR or codecs unsupported by RTMP, but YouTube notes that its segmented delivery has higher latency. Use the protocol supported by both your cloud provider and the YouTube stream configuration rather than assuming every dashboard supports every option. - Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Protect the stream key
YouTube describes stream keys as the encoder’s password and address. Keep yours out of public pages, chat, shared screenshots, and files that other people can access. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update the saved key in the cloud dashboard; the old key will no longer be the credential to use. See YouTube’s stream settings guidance.
Plan for a continuous stream’s archive and DVR limits
A 24/7 live feed is not the same thing as a dependable full-length replay. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, and warns that DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Do not rely on one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast to produce a complete archive or provide rewind throughout its full duration. Check YouTube’s current behavior and plan a separate recording or shorter broadcast segments if a complete replay matters. YouTube encoder guidance · YouTube DVR guidance

Check copyright and live-stream rules
Only stream video and audio you have the rights or permission to use. A video being prerecorded, publicly accessible, or suitable for a loop does not itself grant permission to rebroadcast it. Review YouTube’s current live-stream and copyright policies, and consider how a repetitive or reused-video channel fits the platform’s current monetization rules before building a channel around it. A stream can remain technically online while still facing copyright claims or policy consequences.
Troubleshooting common problems
- No preview appears in Live Control Room: confirm the dashboard is running, the correct stream URL and key are saved, and the selected protocol matches what the provider supports. Check for a key copied from a different YouTube stream.
- YouTube rejects the channel’s live stream: check channel verification, any live-streaming restriction in the prior 90 days, the age requirement, and whether first-time activation has finished.
- Video arrives but playback is unstable or incorrect: inspect the dashboard’s selected output and protocol settings, test the file’s audio and video, and use the provider’s monitoring tools. Do not assume a provider supports a particular codec or output mode unless its current documentation says so.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: check YouTube Live Control Room and the cloud provider dashboard for status or alerts. Review the provider’s interruption-recovery behavior and restart the feed if needed; recovery capabilities differ by service.
- The stream key may have leaked: reset it in Live Control Room, then replace it in the cloud dashboard and verify that the new feed reaches preview.
- The broadcast has no complete replay or rewind: this can be expected for a stream exceeding YouTube’s 12-hour archive or DVR guidance. Use shorter segments or a separate recording plan if replay is essential.
Or let it run in the cloud
