For hosted playout, the card behaves like an ordinary playlist item; a local OBS playout setup is another option.
Make the intermission card
Choose either a short video file or a composition made from a background loop, text and a logo. One documented playout.video example uses a looping background with “Be right back” text and a logo. Keep the card sponsor-free by using only the message and artwork you want viewers to see during the break.
Prepare the asset in a format accepted by your chosen playout tool and destination. The cited guides do not establish a universal set of supported formats, so check the tool’s current media requirements before exporting.
Insert the card between cartoons
- Build the sequence. Add the cartoon videos and intermission asset to one playlist or rundown.
- Set the position. Move the card to the point where you want the break—for example, between two cartoon episodes. In the documented playout.video workflow, a jingle is treated as a regular playlist item.
- Keep looping enabled. A looping playlist starts again at its first item after reaching the last. playout.video’s guide says playlists loop automatically by default and describes loop as always enabled for 24/7 streaming; confirm the setting and behavior in the tool you use.
- Preview the sequence. Check the card’s picture and sound between the surrounding cartoon items before putting the sequence on air.
If you edit a running playlist in playout.video, its documentation says the change takes effect at the next video transition, not in the middle of the current video. Other tools may apply live edits differently; check their documentation before changing an on-air sequence.

Choose where the playlist runs

These are distinct implementation paths, not independently tested reliability rankings. The cited product and project materials describe their publishers’ features; they do not provide a neutral benchmark or universal reliability figures. A hosted playlist avoids relying on your own machine for playback, while local OBS gives you a local setup to manage. Compare item ordering and timing controls, live-edit behavior, supported destinations and formats, and maintenance needs before choosing.
Check rights and destination rules
Adding an intermission does not grant permission to stream the cartoons. Confirm that you have the necessary rights for the cartoon episodes, music and other material in the playlist. Also check the destination platform’s current rules for continuous streams, including any duration or broadcast restrictions. The cited playlist documentation does not establish rights to particular cartoons or guarantee that a platform will permit an uninterrupted stream.

Troubleshoot the sequence
- The card does not appear between episodes: Check that it is in the same playlist or rundown as the cartoons and positioned where you expect it.
- Playback stops after the final item: Check the playlist’s loop behavior. Do not assume every tool uses the same default; playout.video documents automatic looping, but settings differ by product.
- A live edit has not appeared yet: In playout.video, documented playlist edits take effect at the next video transition. If you use another tool, check its live-edit rules.
- The card has missing or unexpected picture or sound: Preview the asset in context and check it against the playout tool’s current media requirements.
- The stream cannot continue because of a rights or platform issue: Review the content permissions and the destination’s current live-stream rules; playlist configuration cannot resolve either issue.
