To hide a finished YouTube gaming livestream replay, open YouTube Studio, go to Content > Live, open the replay’s details, change Visibility to Private or Unlisted, then select Done and Save. Choose Private to restrict viewing to you and people you select; choose Unlisted if anyone with the link may watch and share it.
Change the visibility of a finished gaming stream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio for the channel that owns the stream.
- In the left menu, select Content.
- Open the Live tab to find livestreams and their archives.
- Select the replay you want to change to open its details.
- Under Visibility, choose Private or Unlisted.
- Select Done, then Save.
YouTube’s archive guidance also says an archive’s privacy can be changed from the Content page. The Studio Live tab is where YouTube says to find past, current, and upcoming streams.
Private or Unlisted: which should you choose?

These visibility behaviors are described in YouTube’s video privacy settings. Use Private when access must be restricted. Use Unlisted when easy link sharing and comments are useful and you accept that the link can be reshared. Unlisted is hidden from most ordinary discovery, not confidential.
If “rerun” means a recording you uploaded separately
Manage an uploaded replay from YouTube Studio’s Content page and change its Visibility setting to Private or Unlisted. For live uploads, YouTube’s desktop visibility instructions direct creators to the Live tab.

If you mean setting privacy before the next broadcast
YouTube lets streamers set a live stream to Public, Private, or Unlisted, and a stream can be categorized as Gaming. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream and review its privacy setting; YouTube’s encoder workflow also has a Details page for editing stream settings. The steps above are for changing an existing replay, not configuring a new broadcast.
If the replay is missing
Check YouTube Studio > Content > Live first. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Not every ended stream is guaranteed to appear as an archive, and the help guidance does not specify every account-specific reason one might be missing. See YouTube’s archive guidance.

Side effects and older links to know about
- Making an archive Private removes clips made from it. Clips from an Unlisted source remain available, according to YouTube’s clip guidance. Consider this before changing visibility if you want to preserve clips.
- Unlisted links can spread. Anyone who has the link can watch and reshare the video; choose Private if that is not acceptable.
- An old Unlisted link may have been affected by a legacy change. YouTube says Unlisted videos uploaded before January 1, 2017 were made Private starting July 23, 2021 unless the creator opted out. This may explain why a much older link no longer works.
- Livestream archives are uploaded automatically by default. YouTube’s promotion guidance describes organizing an archive and highlights into playlists. A public archive may aid discovery, but it is not a privacy setting.
