It depends on what you mean by “loop.” To repeat a video while you watch it, use YouTube’s built-in Loop control. To broadcast prerecorded videos continuously as a live stream, use an encoder such as OBS or a cloud streaming service. YouTube lists OBS as open-source software available at no charge; its official listing for Gyre describes cloud-based 24/7 streaming but does not establish that it is free. StreamNeo is a cloud option to consider first for a continuous YouTube broadcast: it runs from the cloud, supports uploads up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day.
First decide: repeat a video for yourself or broadcast it live?
YouTube’s Loop control repeats playback for an individual viewer. It does not create a live stream. If you want viewers to see prerecorded footage in a YouTube Live broadcast, you need a broadcast workflow that sends a video feed to YouTube Live—typically through an encoder or a cloud service.
YouTube describes live streaming as a way to interact with an audience in real time through a video feed, chat, and more. A prerecorded stream can stay live continuously, but the underlying content is still uploaded footage rather than a live camera feed.

Loop a video on YouTube while watching
Repeat a single video on desktop
- Open the video in YouTube.
- Right-click inside the video player.
- Select Loop. YouTube repeats that video for your playback session until you turn Loop off or choose different playback.
Repeat a playlist
Use the repeat control in the playlist. This changes playback for the viewer; it does not send a live broadcast to your channel.

Stream prerecorded videos 24/7 on YouTube with an encoder
OBS is the no-charge software option among the tools identified by YouTube. In an encoder workflow, the software sends a video feed to YouTube Live. YouTube’s setup guidance covers connecting an encoder and starting a live stream; follow its current instructions for your channel and encoder rather than assuming a particular media-source or playlist setting.
- Confirm that your channel can go live. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Set up the live stream in YouTube. Follow the current YouTube encoder setup instructions to create or select a stream and obtain the stream details needed by your encoder.
- Configure and operate OBS. Use OBS to send the video feed to YouTube Live. The sources cited here confirm OBS as a free encoder option, but do not establish the exact current steps for setting a local file to repeat seamlessly; consult current OBS guidance for that specific configuration.
- Preview before going public. Check the stream in YouTube’s preview and test with an unlisted stream if appropriate. Confirm that viewers can access it from channel and watch pages and on mobile.
- Monitor the broadcast. Check audio and video quality while it runs. A local encoder workflow depends on the computer and connection that are sending the feed remaining available.
Keep YouTube rules in view
Live content must follow YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. YouTube’s eligibility rules and live-stream restrictions apply even when the broadcast uses prerecorded video. Make sure you have the rights needed for every video, music track, image, and other material you stream. Repeatedly broadcasting footage does not grant permission to use it, and a continuous stream is not exempt from YouTube’s rules.

Common problems and what to check
- You meant to start a live broadcast but only see a repeating video. The YouTube Loop control is viewer playback, not a broadcast tool. Use an encoder workflow or a cloud service to send prerecorded footage to YouTube Live.
- You cannot start a live stream. Check that the channel is verified and has not had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, then review YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance.
- The stream is live but viewers cannot find or play it. Preview it and check access from the channel page, the watch page, and a mobile device. Test with an unlisted stream before relying on a public broadcast.
- Audio or video quality is poor. Monitor the broadcast and inspect the source feed and encoder operation. YouTube recommends checking audio and video quality; the sources cited here do not specify an OBS bitrate or resolution for this particular looping workflow.
- A very long stream does not let viewers rewind as expected. YouTube DVR may be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours, and viewers cannot seek to before the broadcast began.
- You are considering Gyre because it is listed by YouTube. The listing identifies cloud-based 24/7 prerecorded streaming but does not confirm a free plan or price. Verify current terms directly before committing.
