How to Add Podcast Cover Art to an Always-On YouTube Stream

To keep podcast audio playing with its cover art on a YouTube live stream, create an encoder scene that uses the cover image as a still visual and routes your podcast audio into the scene. Then connect the encoder to a stream you set up in YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube’s RSS podcast feature is different: it publishes episode videos with show art, not a continuous live broadcast.

Choose a live broadcast or podcast episode uploads

Use an encoder-based YouTube Live stream if you want the cover art and podcast audio presented together in a continuous broadcast. YouTube’s podcast RSS workflow is for publishing episodes as videos, not for keeping a channel live. YouTube describes podcasts as playlists with video episodes; RSS ingestion can use show art to create static-image videos for selected episodes and upload new episodes added to the feed. Availability is limited to select countries or regions. YouTube’s RSS podcast guidance explains the feed workflow.

Route What it produces Best fit Important limitation
RSS ingestion Static-image episode videos using podcast show art Publishing podcast episodes through a feed Available only in select regions. Changes to show details or replacement audio do not automatically update existing videos; re-uploading a revised RSS episode creates a new video and makes the old one private. YouTube Help
Encoder-based YouTube Live A live audiovisual feed, including a still cover image and podcast audio Presenting audio and cover art as a live broadcast Requires YouTube live setup and encoder configuration. YouTube’s guidance reviewed here does not promise indefinite uptime or specify a duration for this exact setup.
Static-image or audiogram upload An on-demand podcast video Publishing an episode without RSS ingestion or a live broadcast This is a regular video upload, not an always-on stream. YouTube describes static-image and dynamic-video options in its podcast distribution guidance.

Set up the cover-art live stream

  1. Check that the channel can stream live. YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Review YouTube’s live-streaming tips if you need to confirm eligibility.
  2. Create a stream in YouTube Studio. Open Live Control Room and set up a stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into your encoder. The key is sensitive: YouTube compares stream keys to a password and address because the encoder uses them to send the feed. See Manage live stream settings.
  3. Build the encoder scene. Add the podcast cover image as the still visual, then select or route the podcast audio as the scene’s audio source. This is a practical way to combine a static image with an encoder feed; YouTube documents encoder streaming and static-image podcast videos but does not provide an OBS-specific scene tutorial.
  4. Check both previews. Confirm that the cover is framed correctly, the audio is audible and the encoder is sending a signal. Review the encoder preview and YouTube Live Control Room preview before starting the broadcast.
  5. Clear rights to the material. Confirm you have permission to use the artwork, podcast audio and any other included material in a live stream. YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party content; a match can replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it or terminate it. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.
  6. Allow upload headroom and monitor the connection. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom and notes that network disruption can break a stream. This is general operational guidance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 service. See YouTube’s streaming tips.

If the podcast contains sponsorships or endorsements, follow YouTube’s branded-content disclosure requirements. Its podcast guidance covers disclosures alongside its publishing recommendations: Distribute podcasts on YouTube.

What RSS does—and does not—do

RSS is useful when the goal is to distribute individual episodes through a podcast feed. It can upload selected episodes and automatically upload new episodes added to the feed, using show art for static-image video. It does not turn the RSS feed into a continuous live channel. Also account for update behavior: edits to show details or replacement audio do not automatically change videos already uploaded through RSS.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

If you are not using RSS, YouTube recommends turning the audio episode into a video with a third-party tool, uploading it with a static image such as the podcast thumbnail, or using an audiogram or another dynamic visual format. Those options publish on-demand videos rather than a live broadcast. YouTube’s podcast distribution guidance

Troubleshoot common problems

  • YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that the encoder has the correct stream URL and key copied from Live Control Room, and confirm the encoder is actively sending. Treat the key as private; if it may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube and update the encoder configuration.
  • The cover appears, but there is no podcast audio: Verify the selected audio source in the encoder scene, then listen to the encoder and YouTube previews before starting the broadcast.
  • The stream disconnects or becomes unstable: Check upload stability and available bandwidth; network disruptions can break a stream. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom, but that guidance does not guarantee continuous operation.
  • The image is replaced or the broadcast is interrupted: YouTube may have identified third-party content. Review rights to both the cover art and audio, and consult YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance.
  • You want episodes to appear from an RSS feed: Use the RSS podcast workflow if available in your country or region. It publishes episode videos; it is not the way to keep a live broadcast running.

Or let it run in the cloud

For a YouTube-only always-on stream using uploaded videos, StreamNeo keeps the broadcast running from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; StreamNeo also attempts automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and it does not replace checking that you have rights to the material.
