Super Chat is unavailable when the creator or stream does not meet YouTube’s eligibility and settings requirements—or when a viewer is watching somewhere Super Chat cannot appear. First identify whether it is missing across the channel, on just one stream, or for just one viewer; each points to a different fix.
First, identify where Super Chat is missing
- Every stream on the channel: Check creator eligibility, location, required terms, and whether Supers are enabled in YouTube Studio.
- One stream only: Check that stream’s visibility, audience and age settings, fundraiser status, and Live Chat settings.
- One viewer only: Check whether the viewer is on the YouTube watch page and whether their account is supervised.
This distinction is useful because YouTube sets requirements at the channel, individual video, and viewer levels.
If Super Chat is missing across the channel
YouTube requires creators using fan-funding features such as Super Chat to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), be at least 18, live in a location where the feature is available, and accept and comply with the applicable Commerce Product Module. See YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance and fan-funding eligibility requirements.
- Open YouTube Studio and select Earn.
- Look for the Supers tab or card. YouTube says it appears when the channel has access.
- If it is available, review and accept the applicable Commerce Product Module if prompted, then turn on Super Chat. You can also manage Supers in the Studio mobile app.
- If the Supers option is absent, check YPP status, creator age, location eligibility, and any channel or feature restrictions before troubleshooting the stream itself.
Eligibility for one YouTube monetization feature does not automatically grant access to every other feature. YouTube says individual features can have additional criteria and may be unavailable because of local legal requirements or channel or video review. Check YouTube’s monetization features overview.

Verify the creator’s location
Super Chat and Super Stickers are available only to eligible creators in locations on YouTube’s supported list. Check the current list of available locations; availability can change. The viewer’s country by itself does not establish whether the creator is eligible.
If Super Chat is missing on one stream
A channel may have Supers access while a particular video remains ineligible. Check the affected stream’s settings and status. YouTube lists these as ineligible for Super Chat and Super Stickers:

Live Chat or comments being turned off also makes Supers unavailable for that stream. Review the stream’s audience, visibility and age settings, fundraiser status, and chat controls in Studio. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance describes the stream-level restrictions.
If Super Chat is missing for one viewer
Open the stream on YouTube
If the viewer is watching an embedded player on another website, have them open the stream directly on its YouTube watch page. YouTube Live Chat is available on watch pages, not embedded players, so the embedded player does not provide the usual live-chat surface for Super Chat. See YouTube’s Live Chat guidance.

Check whether the viewer account is supervised
A supervised account may not have access to Supers. If other viewers can see the option but one cannot, check that viewer’s account and viewing context before concluding the creator’s channel has lost eligibility. See YouTube’s guidance on supervised experiences and Supers.
Quick troubleshooting checklist
- Channel access: Is the creator in YPP, at least 18, and located in a currently supported region?
- Terms and activation: Has the creator accepted and complied with the Commerce Product Module? Is the Supers tab or card visible under Earn, and is Super Chat turned on?
- Stream eligibility: Is the affected stream eligible—not age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, or a YouTube Giving fundraiser?
- Chat: Are Live Chat and comments enabled?
- Viewer context: Is the viewer on the YouTube watch page rather than an embedded player? Is their account supervised?
- Compare scope: Check whether Super Chat is missing everywhere, on this stream alone, or for one viewer. Use that result to focus on channel, stream, or viewer requirements.
What Super Chat does—and creator revenue share
Super Chat is a YouTube fan-funding feature that lets viewers pay to highlight messages in Live Chat on eligible live streams and Premieres. YouTube Help says: “Creators receive 70% of Supers revenue that is confirmed by Google.” YouTube calculates that share after local sales tax and App Store fees on iOS are deducted. See YouTube Help’s “Manage YouTube Super Chat & Super Stickers for Live Chat” guidance.

Can a different streaming service fix Super Chat?
No. Super Chat availability depends on YouTube’s creator eligibility, location, stream settings, and viewer access—not on buying a streaming accessory or using a service to keep a video online. If you use a cloud service to keep a YouTube stream running, that does not override YouTube’s Supers requirements.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the separate problem is keeping a prerecorded video live on YouTube 24/7, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot; YouTube stream drops are automatically recovered. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, or start your free day.
