For continuous playback on a viewer’s device, save the videos to a YouTube playlist, open it, and turn on Autoplay. That creates a viewing queue—not a public livestream—and it is not guaranteed to play unattended forever. If you want to broadcast prerecorded videos as a continuous YouTube Live event, you need a separate creator workflow using YouTube Live and an encoder.
First decide what “continuous streaming” means
A playlist is a collection that viewers play on YouTube. Autoplay advances playback on that viewer’s device. A livestream is different: it is a broadcast event that viewers join while it is running. Choose the playlist method for a queue of videos to watch; choose YouTube Live if you need a public live event showing prerecorded material.
Make a playlist and set it up for viewing

Add the videos
In YouTube, save a video to a new playlist or add it to an existing one. Give the playlist a clear name, then arrange the videos in the order you want viewers to watch them.

Choose who can access it
Set playlist visibility to match the audience. Private playlists are viewable only by the owner; use a shareable visibility setting when others should be able to open the playlist. You can copy the playlist page URL to share it. See YouTube’s playlist instructions.

Check each video’s access
Playlist visibility does not override restrictions on individual videos. Private videos require the uploader to grant access. An embedded playlist may also omit videos if an uploader has disabled embedding. Check that every video is available to the people you intend to reach.

Turn on Autoplay
Open the playlist and enable Autoplay in the YouTube watch player on the device being used. The control and its behavior can vary across desktop, mobile, TV, and casting, so check the player where you expect the playlist to run. Autoplay can advance to a related next video; do not assume it will always follow your intended playlist order. YouTube explains the control and interruptions in its Autoplay help page.

What can stop unattended playback?
Autoplay is not a promise of endless playback. YouTube says Autoplay stops after 30 minutes of inactivity on a mobile network and after four hours on Wi-Fi. Interacting with the page or scrolling past the player can also prevent the next video from starting. Test the actual device and network before relying on unattended playback; these cutoffs are YouTube platform behavior, not a playlist setting you can use to guarantee a 24/7 run.
How to broadcast prerecorded videos as a YouTube livestream
For a true live event, use YouTube Live with an encoder workflow rather than relying on a viewer’s playlist and Autoplay. YouTube supports live streaming by mobile, webcam, encoder, or console. Its general live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; the page also states that streamers must be at least 16. Review YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance and confirm the current requirements for your channel.

Confirm eligibility before planning the event
Check that live streaming is enabled for your channel and that it meets YouTube’s requirements. Mobile streaming has additional conditions: YouTube lists at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live restriction in the prior 90 days, and live streaming enabled. First-time mobile enablement can take up to 24 hours. These are mobile-specific conditions and should not be assumed to define every encoder or live-streaming method.

YouTube lists India among the countries where eligible creators can livestream mobile Playables. That is a feature-specific statement; it does not establish that every YouTube Live feature has identical availability or requirements in India. Set up an encoder and protect the stream key
For an encoder broadcast, follow the setup flow in YouTube Live Control Room and the encoder you choose. YouTube’s stream settings include a stream key and server URL. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with people who should not be able to broadcast to your channel. Software or hardware may be used depending on the format; YouTube says expensive equipment is not required to get started. The official guidance does not give a complete playlist-to-encoder procedure, so do not assume that a YouTube playlist can simply be selected as the live input.

Test, preview, and monitor
Set up and test before the scheduled event. Check the Live Control Room preview, verify that the event page opens on desktop and mobile, and monitor both audio and video during the broadcast. After the YouTube event ends, stop the encoder. These checks help catch access, signal, and playback problems before or during the event; see YouTube’s encoder streaming guidance.

Plan for long broadcasts and archives
YouTube’s DVR setting lets viewers pause, resume, or seek back during a live stream, but it is not unlimited rewind: DVR may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours, and viewers cannot seek to a point before the broadcast began. YouTube uploads the broadcast archive by default; you can organize archives and highlight clips into playlists afterward. An archive playlist is useful for replay, but it does not turn the playlist into a live broadcast. Details are in YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance.
Common problems and what to check
- The next video does not start: Confirm Autoplay is enabled in the player on the device in use. Check whether inactivity, page interaction, or scrolling past the player interrupted playback.
- A shared playlist has missing or inaccessible videos: Check playlist visibility and each video’s own access settings. Private videos need uploader-granted access; disabled embedding can exclude a video from an embedded playlist.
- The channel cannot start a live broadcast: Confirm verification, live-streaming enablement, and whether the channel has a restriction from the prior 90 days. For mobile, also check the subscriber threshold and allow for first-time enablement, which YouTube says can take up to 24 hours.
- The livestream is not behaving like an all-day archive: Check DVR expectations for broadcasts longer than 12 hours; viewers may not be able to rewind fully or to before the event began.
- The encoder cannot connect: Check the stream URL and key in the Live Control Room and encoder settings. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it using YouTube’s available stream-key controls before broadcasting again.
