If your YouTube live stream is dropping frames on JioFiber, first identify where the loss occurs: in the encoder, on the connection to YouTube, or only for viewers. Then compare your actual upload capacity with the stream’s total bitrate, test Ethernet against Wi-Fi, and run MyJio diagnostics if the evidence points to the broadband connection. Changing one thing at a time makes it easier to find the cause.
First identify which “dropped frames” you are seeing
“Dropped frames” describes a symptom, not a single fault. Record the exact message, where it appears, and its time. Encoder statistics, YouTube Live Control Room, and viewer reports are separate clues; one does not automatically prove the others are healthy or faulty.
Check the encoder and a local recording
Look at your encoder’s statistics for the category of dropped frames it reports—such as rendering, encoding, or network drops—and note whether the preview or a local recording also looks or sounds poor. Rendering or encoding trouble points toward the computer, source, or encoder workload; network drops point toward the outgoing connection. YouTube advises checking encoder load and the local archive when stream quality is poor. These clues help narrow the cause but are not conclusive by themselves.
Check YouTube Live Control Room
Review the stream-health indicator and any exact error shown in Live Control Room. YouTube’s indicator reports ingestion problems, including incorrect bitrate or keyframe settings. A YouTube health warning can therefore occur even if the encoder preview looks normal. See YouTube’s live streaming error messages.

Ask who is affected
Find out whether the problem affects one viewer, several viewers sharing one connection, or viewers on different connections. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance treats these as useful diagnostic clues: one viewer may have a device or network issue; multiple viewers on one connection may share a local network problem; and reports from many viewers on different connections can point toward the stream or encoder. They are clues, not certainty. If viewers alone report buffering while your encoder and stream health look normal, troubleshoot their playback connection rather than treating it as proof that your JioFiber upload is dropping frames. Follow YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guidance.
Check upload capacity against the complete stream
Measure upload speed, ideally at the streaming computer, in the place and under the household conditions where you plan to go live. Download speed or the advertised plan speed does not establish how much reliable upload capacity is available to your stream. YouTube says the total outgoing stream bitrate must fit within available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. If you send primary and backup streams, count both in the total. Other people or devices using the connection can reduce the capacity left for streaming.

Compare a representative upload test with your configured video and audio bitrate—not with resolution alone. A short speed-test result is only a snapshot, so repeat the test if it varies and use an unlisted stream to check how the connection behaves under the actual workload. YouTube’s advice is to leave room between total bitrate and available upload bandwidth; do not assume a universal minimum JioFiber plan speed based on download speed. Read YouTube’s streaming tips.
Set the encoder for a bitrate your upload can sustain
Compare your resolution, frame rate, codec, and bitrate with YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate recommendations. The following figures are YouTube’s recommended H.264 video bitrates, not guarantees that a particular JioFiber connection can sustain them:

| Video setting | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate |
|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 6 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps |
AV1 and H.265 recommendations differ. Use the recommendation for your chosen codec, then verify that your available upload can carry the total bitrate with headroom.
Use stable output settings
- Use constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends.
- Set a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds.
- Test with audio and movement similar to the planned stream, since a static or unusually quiet test may not represent a real broadcast.
- If the upload cannot sustain the selected resolution reliably, lower the resolution and test again rather than simply raising the bitrate.
Watch both the encoder statistics and Live Control Room health during an unlisted test. Make one adjustment at a time so you can tell which change helped.

Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
Connect the streaming computer to the JioFiber gateway by Ethernet and repeat a comparable test with the same encoder settings. YouTube recommends Ethernet for computer live streaming, and Jio describes a wired LAN connection as a stable option. A wired test helps isolate Wi-Fi; it does not by itself prove or disprove every possible ISP fault. See YouTube’s live filming tips and Jio’s guide to a wired LAN connection.
If the stream improves on Ethernet but not Wi-Fi, investigate wireless coverage before changing stream settings again. Jio notes that Wi-Fi performance can be affected by router placement, walls, distance, neighboring routers, and connected devices. Try a central, open placement and reduce avoidable household network load. An extender or mesh system may be worth considering only if the problem is genuinely weak coverage in a larger home; it is not a routine fix for YouTube ingestion errors. Jio’s gateway Wi-Fi coverage guidance describes these factors and options.

Run JioFiber diagnostics in MyJio
- Open the MyJio app and select Home.
- Tap JioCare, then open Run Diagnostics.
- Review the result and follow the on-screen repair steps for any detected issue.
Jio says diagnostics check network health, router status, Wi-Fi strength, and device connectivity. The app may flag weak signal, a router that is offline, loose cables, speed drops, or configuration errors, and offer steps such as restarting the router, improving placement, or checking cables. The app’s navigation can change, so follow its current on-screen flow. Details are in Jio’s Run Diagnostics FAQ and Run Diagnostics guide.
When to contact Jio or keep troubleshooting elsewhere
Evidence points to JioFiber or the local network
If upload tests fail or vary substantially at the streaming location, a wired test still has problems, or MyJio identifies a network fault, save the diagnostic result and note the test times and conditions. Follow any complaint or service-request option presented by MyJio, or use Jio’s current support channel. YouTube also advises contacting the ISP when connection testing finds internet problems. A support request is more useful when it includes the exact times, wired-versus-Wi-Fi results, upload test results, encoder message, and YouTube health status.
Evidence points to the encoder or stream
If the local recording or encoder preview is already unhealthy, investigate the source, encoder settings, and computer load. If many viewers on unrelated connections report the same issue, check the encoder and YouTube stream health rather than assuming JioFiber is responsible. If only one viewer has trouble, have that viewer test their own device and connection.
Run a final unlisted test before the real event
- Use the same computer, location, network connection, encoder settings, audio, and representative motion planned for the event.
- Record the encoder’s dropped-frame categories and timestamps, then check Live Control Room for stream-health warnings.
- Compare upload capacity with the full outgoing bitrate, including any backup stream, and retain the recommended headroom.
- Change only one setting or network condition at a time. Compare Wi-Fi and Ethernet under otherwise similar conditions.
- Go live publicly only after the test is stable and the relevant health indicators are clear.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the issue is keeping a pre-recorded YouTube stream running rather than streaming from a camera, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Each slot streams uploaded video at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price, with no re-encode or quality tiers; automatic recovery can restart the stream if YouTube drops it. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
