Usually not while the strike penalty is active. A first Community Guidelines strike blocks livestreaming and other posting actions for one week from the date you acknowledge the strike. YouTube says full privileges are restored automatically after that week, but a separate livestream restriction may keep live access disabled. Check the notice on your account and the Channel violations card in YouTube Studio for your current status.
What a first Community Guidelines strike means for livestreaming
YouTube’s strike policy says a first Community Guidelines strike pauses certain posting actions—including uploading videos and livestreaming—for one week. The penalty period begins on the date you acknowledge the strike, not necessarily the date the video was first reported or removed. After the week, YouTube says it restores full privileges automatically, while the strike remains on the channel for 90 days. YouTube’s Community Guidelines strike basics describes this timing.
That means a strike does not necessarily prevent a channel from going live for the entire 90 days. The 90 days describe how long the strike remains on the channel; the first-strike posting block is one week. However, livestream access can also be restricted separately, so the end of the one-week period does not guarantee live access if YouTube has placed a distinct restriction on the channel.
Strike penalty and livestream restriction are different

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Strike posting block: A first strike pauses livestreaming and other posting actions for one week from acknowledgement. A second strike within the same 90-day period brings a two-week posting block; three strikes in that period may lead to channel termination. YouTube’s strike policy sets out these consequences.
- Livestream-specific restriction: YouTube’s live eligibility guidance requires a verified channel and no livestreaming restriction in the past 90 days. Separate guidance says a livestream restriction can result in a 14-day livestream ban. A strike associated with an active or archived livestream may also disable live access. See Get started with live streaming and Changes to account standing.
Your account notice and current YouTube Studio status are the practical guide: the general time periods do not reveal whether a separate restriction applies to your channel.
How to check whether your channel can go live
- Open YouTube Studio while signed in to the affected channel.
- Check the Channel violations card for the strike notice, acknowledgement date, and any appeal option. YouTube identifies this card as the place to review channel violations; see Appeal a Community Guidelines strike or video removal.
- Review the account notice for a livestream-specific restriction and its stated duration. If the notice gives a different restriction period from the general first-strike block, follow the notice for the channel’s current status.
- After the applicable restriction period, check live access again in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s general live eligibility guidance also requires channel verification and no livestreaming restriction within the past 90 days.
Can you appeal or delete the video to restore access?
YouTube allows one appeal of a Community Guidelines strike, and the appeal must be submitted within six months. Use the appeal option shown in the Channel violations card and follow the account’s instructions. Deleting the video does not remove the strike, so deleting it is not a way to shorten the penalty or restore live access. See YouTube’s appeal guidance.

Do not switch channels to get around a live restriction
Do not use another channel to continue livestreaming while the affected channel is restricted. YouTube describes streaming from another channel to bypass an active livestream restriction as circumvention; it may result in termination. The restriction should be resolved through the affected account’s status and any available appeal process, not by moving the stream elsewhere. See Avoid restrictions on YouTube live streaming.
