Not automatically. YouTube’s monetization policy does not name looping by itself as an automatic reused-content violation. The key questions are who created the footage, what original value the channel adds, and how the channel as a whole is presented. That distinction is not a guarantee that a particular stream—or channel—will qualify for monetization.
How YouTube’s reused-content rule applies to live streams
Live streams are within scope of YouTube’s channel monetization policies. YouTube says that “video” on its policy page includes Shorts, long-form videos, and live streaming. The reused-content rule focuses on repurposing material from YouTube or another online source without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. YouTube channel monetization policies
The policy does not say that repeating footage in a live stream, on its own, automatically makes it reused content. That is an interpretation of the published policy, not a specific safe harbor from YouTube. A loop can still raise monetization concerns because of where the footage came from, how much the creator contributes, or the channel’s overall output.
Which kinds of loops carry more risk?
| Stream setup | How it relates to the policy |
|---|---|
| Your own original footage replayed in a loop | Repetition alone is not identified as an automatic reused-content violation. Originality, the value of the stream, and the channel as a whole still matter; monetization is not guaranteed. |
| Someone else’s video replayed with little or no meaningful contribution | This presents a reused-content risk: YouTube describes republished material with little or no significant commentary, substantive change, or educational or entertainment value as potentially ineligible. Permission from the original creator does not automatically make it eligible. |
| Third-party footage used in a critical review, commentary, or a narrated storyline | YouTube gives examples such as critical reviews, reactions with commentary, and footage edited into a storyline with commentary as formats that may be eligible. The outcome still depends on the full channel and other policies. |
| Many nearly identical streams or mass-produced uploads | This can raise a separate concern under YouTube’s “inauthentic content” policy, even if you own the underlying footage. |
Reused content is not the same as inauthentic content
YouTube’s July 15, 2025 policy update renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that the policy includes repetitive or mass-produced material. YouTube said the update did not change its reused-content policy. The two questions are therefore distinct: reused content concerns repurposed material and the original value added; inauthentic content concerns repetitive or mass-produced channel output. A creator-made loop may avoid the first concern but still warrant a careful look at the second.

Review your channel, not just the live stream
YouTube says reviewers may consider the channel’s videos, theme, description, titles and descriptions, metadata, About section, newest and most-viewed videos, and the share of watch time associated with particular content. Its examples are not exhaustive. Make it easy for a reviewer to understand what you created and what viewers get from it.
- Identify the source of the footage and make clear which parts you created.
- Where you use third-party material, explain and demonstrate the commentary, editing, educational value, or entertainment value you add.
- Consider whether a schedule of nearly identical streams makes the channel look repetitive or mass-produced, even if the source material is yours.
- Review titles, descriptions, channel details, and the rest of the channel for a consistent, truthful account of authorship and viewer value.
Copyright permission does not guarantee monetization
Copyright enforcement and reused-content eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s policy says reused content can still be an issue even when the uploader has permission from the original creator. Permission may address a rights question, but it does not by itself show that the channel adds enough original value for YouTube Partner Program eligibility. Copyright, Community Guidelines, advertiser suitability, and YPP eligibility can also raise separate issues.

Keeping an original loop running
If you want to run your own recorded video as a YouTube Live stream, you can operate the stream yourself or use a cloud service. StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live 24/7: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer does not need to stay on. This changes how the stream is operated; it does not change YouTube’s monetization review or make reused content eligible.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection left on. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encoding or quality tiers, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
