Yes—you can loop prerecorded store ads as a YouTube Live broadcast. Create a live stream in YouTube Studio, send it a continuous video feed from an encoder or hosted service, and verify the preview and stream health before relying on it. YouTube does not promise that one broadcast will stay live indefinitely without intervention, so plan for monitoring and recovery.
Choose how to keep the feed running
You need a playout system to turn the ad files into a continuous feed and an encoder or hosted service to send that feed to YouTube. YouTube describes an encoder as software or a service that converts video into a digital format for streaming.

Set up the YouTube broadcast
- Confirm channel eligibility. YouTube says the channel must be verified, must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the person live streaming must be at least 16. YouTube’s general guidance also lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key.
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a live stream. Schedule it if you want a watch page that viewers can visit in advance and a reminder they can use.
- Connect the encoder. Select YouTube if the encoder offers it. Otherwise, copy the YouTube stream URL into the encoder’s server field and the stream key into its key field. Treat the key like a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
- Start the feed and inspect the preview. Start sending video from the encoder, then check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before treating the stream as ready for viewers.
Prepare and check the ad playlist
Playlist controls differ by encoder and hosted service, so confirm their exact behavior in the product you choose. Before going live, check the actual output rather than assuming the file list will play as intended.
- Confirm the loop order and that the playlist returns to the beginning as expected.
- Check each ad from start to finish, including transitions, aspect ratio, and audio levels.
- Verify that the chosen service supports your ad files and intended output format and resolution.
- Decide who will monitor the feed and what they will do if playback or transmission stops.
Plan for stream duration and recovery
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive rule is not a guarantee that a single broadcast can stay live indefinitely. Google’s API documentation describes an ongoing 24/7 broadcast and explains that other broadcast resources can share its stream, but the documentation does not remove the need to plan for interruptions and operational intervention.

Before launch, establish how you will notice a stopped feed, restart it, and confirm that the Live Control Room preview has returned. If you need unattended operation, check that the service you select explicitly supports the playlist behavior and recovery you require; a vendor’s presence on YouTube’s encoder list is not proof of those capabilities.
Clear rights and follow YouTube’s policies
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material appearing in another live broadcast. If it detects a match, YouTube may replace the feed with a placeholder image and warn you to stop streaming the material. If it continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated.

Secure rights for the footage, music, voiceover, logos, and other material in every ad. A license alone may not prevent a live-stream interruption: YouTube instructs creators using licensed third-party material to ask the rights owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist where needed. Check that the relevant allowlisting is in place before launch.
All live content must also comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Policy violations may lead to live-stream restrictions. YouTube says a creator cannot evade an active restriction by switching to another channel.

Keep store ad spots distinct from YouTube ad insertions
Your prerecorded store ads are content in the feed that you supply. They are not YouTube pre-roll or mid-roll ads. YouTube’s API documentation says a channel must be eligible to monetize videos to enable automated ads; monetization options, including automatic or scheduled mid-rolls, can be configured in YouTube Studio or through the API. Do not describe a store spot as a YouTube ad insertion unless YouTube’s ad system is actually serving it.
