You can stream an existing children’s video as a YouTube Live broadcast by sending the video file through a computer-based encoder. To repeat it, set the encoder’s media source to loop; the exact control depends on the software and version. Before going live, confirm the channel is eligible to stream, set the audience accurately, and make sure you have the rights to broadcast every part of the video.
What you need to loop a video on YouTube Live
YouTube supports live broadcasts through a computer or an encoder. For a prerecorded file, use an encoder workflow that can play the file as its source; camera- or mobile-oriented methods may not suit this job. YouTube’s setup guidance describes the available live-stream workflows and channel requirements: Get started with live streaming.
- A video file you are authorized to broadcast, including its music and other included material.
- A computer capable of running your chosen encoder. YouTube’s guidance does not establish a minimum computer specification, and a webcam, microphone, or capture card is not inherently required to stream a prerecorded file.
- A YouTube channel that is verified, eligible for live streaming, and has live streaming enabled. Check YouTube’s current setup page for the requirements that apply to your channel.
- An encoder that can use the file as a media source and repeat that source. Software controls and menu paths vary by product and version, so consult the current documentation for the encoder you choose.
Prepare the video and confirm your rights
Before configuring the stream, check the whole audiovisual file—not just the main footage. You need the necessary rights to use the video, music, clips, characters, and other material in a live broadcast. Having a copy of a file, or having uploaded it previously, does not establish those rights. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music rights.
Credit, a disclaimer, or a child-friendly theme does not by itself grant permission to rebroadcast protected material. YouTube warns that third-party content can prompt an instruction to stop streaming or interrupt the broadcast; see Copyright issues with live streams. Resolve rights questions before you transmit rather than relying on a previous upload as proof of clearance.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Set up the broadcast and loop the file
- Confirm live access. Sign in to the eligible YouTube channel and open YouTube’s current live setup flow. If live streaming is not enabled or the channel does not meet the applicable requirements, resolve that first.
- Create the live stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, enter an accurate title and choose the intended visibility. Check the current setup prompts because labels and requirements can change.
- Choose the audience honestly. Set whether the stream is Made for Kids in the Live Control Room. Use YouTube’s criteria: content is likely Made for Kids when children are its primary audience or when its subject matter—such as children’s characters, activities, games, songs, or stories—shows an intent to target children. See Set your channel or video’s audience.
- Connect the encoder. Use YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions to copy the stream details into your chosen software. Treat the stream key as private: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube’s encoder workflow is covered in its live-stream setup guidance.
- Add the video as the encoder’s source. Select the prerecorded file as a media source. In that source’s settings, enable its loop or repeat option, using the current documentation for your specific encoder and version. The exact OBS Studio checkbox name and menu path are not established here, so do not rely on an assumed click sequence; verify the control in OBS’s current documentation if you use OBS.
- Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room. Confirm that YouTube is receiving the stream and that the intended video is playing before you begin or publicize the broadcast. Follow the current on-screen prompts to start the live stream.
What Made for Kids changes
Marking a stream Made for Kids is an audience designation, not a judgment about whether the content is safe or appropriate. YouTube restricts or disables some features for this setting, including live chat and personalized ads; its help guidance also lists restrictions affecting comments, notifications, and other engagement features. The stream’s interaction options and advertising may therefore differ from those on a general-audience stream. See YouTube’s audience guidance and features affected by Made for Kids content.
Looping and monetization are separate questions
A loop can keep the same file playing, but it does not by itself establish that a channel or stream is eligible for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and require eligible content to be original and authentic. The policy update dated July 15, 2025 clarified its rules for repetitive or mass-produced content under the term “inauthentic content.” Consider whether the channel as a whole offers original, varied value; do not treat replaying one video continuously as a monetization strategy. Read YouTube channel monetization policies.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- YouTube does not show the incoming video. Check that the channel can live stream, that the encoder is using the stream details for this broadcast, and that the encoder has actually started sending its output. Compare your setup with YouTube’s current encoder instructions.
- The file plays once and stops. The media source may not be set to repeat. Open that source’s settings and check the encoder’s current instructions for its loop control; do not assume a particular menu name across versions.
- Live chat or other engagement features are unavailable. Check the audience setting. Made for Kids streams have restrictions on chat and other features, as described in YouTube’s feature guidance.
- YouTube interrupts or stops the stream. Review the complete file for third-party content and confirm that you have live-streaming rights for it. YouTube may interrupt live content over copyright concerns; see its copyright guidance for live streams.
- You expect ads or monetization from a continuous replay. A looping setup is not a monetization qualification. Review the channel’s originality and variation against YouTube’s monetization policies.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded videos without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs the loop in the cloud. The setup is three steps: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. The computer can be off while the stream continues.
Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers; StreamNeo does not re-encode the video. It includes 24/7 looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, and automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, with one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free first day.
