First identify what is delayed: sound out of sync with the picture, the whole live stream arriving late, or YouTube audio lagging behind a separate radio feed. These are different problems and need different fixes. Check playback and audio equipment for a picture/sound mismatch; use YouTube TV’s broadcast-delay control only when the entire live program is behind real time. There is no general YouTube setting established here for synchronizing a YouTube stream with a separate radio broadcast.
Identify which kind of delay you have
A YouTube TV community reader described one symptom as “there is a slight delay between the audio and video signals. They are not in sync”. That describes lip-sync trouble, but it does not establish the cause of every YouTube radio-stream delay. Google’s Google TV Streamer audio and video sync guidance and YouTube TV playback troubleshooting address particular playback contexts, not every YouTube app, device, or radio feed.
- Sound does not match the picture: a person’s speech or an on-screen action happens before or after its sound. Investigate the app, device, TV, receiver, soundbar, and their audio settings.
- The entire live program is behind the event: picture and sound may be synchronized with each other, but both arrive late. This is broadcast latency; a buffer setting may trade lower delay for more interruptions.
- YouTube is behind a separate radio or audio source: the two independently delivered feeds may have different timing. The official guidance cited here does not establish a universal control for aligning them.
Do not assume a TV audio-offset control will fix a separate radio feed: it adjusts the local audio path, not necessarily the timing of another independently delivered stream.
Compare devices and playback routes
Test the same stream another way
Play the same stream on another supported device or through another route to the TV. If the mismatch occurs only with one device or signal path, focus on that setup. If it follows one stream across devices, the source or channel feed may be involved, though that clue is not conclusive. YouTube recommends restarting the app or device, checking for app and system updates, testing another supported device, and sending feedback if the problem persists; see its playback troubleshooting steps.

If you are casting
For a casting problem, stop casting and restart the content, close and reopen the Chrome tab, and reduce the distance between the streaming device, router, and computer. Power-cycle the streaming device by disconnecting its power for about one minute. Removing it from the TV’s HDMI port alone does not reboot it. Follow Google’s Cast audio and video out of sync guidance for this casting-specific route.
Check the TV, receiver, or soundbar audio path
If sound consistently leads or trails the picture, inspect the audio-delay or audio-offset control on the TV, A/V receiver, or soundbar. Google advises: “When delays are constant, you can try to adjust the audio delay settings on your TV, A/V receiver, or soundbar.” Menu names and available controls vary by manufacturer, so use the equipment’s manual rather than assuming another brand has Google TV’s menus.

- Reboot the streamer from its power source; if needed, reboot the router as well.
These are the steps in Google’s Google TV Streamer sync guidance; other devices may use different settings. Google recommends an Ultra High Speed HDMI 2.1 cable for the specific Google TV Streamer connection arrangement described in that guide. A cable is not a general fix for source-side latency, a YouTube broadcast buffer, or an incorrect audio setting.
Reduce whole-program delay in YouTube TV when appropriate
Use this branch only if you are watching the TV app for YouTube TV and the whole live broadcast is late—not merely because picture and sound are out of sync. On a TV, open the YouTube TV app, select the three-dot menu, choose Broadcast Delay, then choose Decrease to reduce live delay or Default to favor fewer interruptions.

YouTube TV Help explains: “The lower the broadcast delay, the less buffer the video player will have. With a lower broadcast delay, you’re more likely to experience playback interruption.” Default is the recommended choice when minimizing interruptions matters more than reducing latency. Network congestion or Wi-Fi interference can also delay live programming, even on a good connection. The setting and trade-off are documented for the YouTube TV app on a TV; do not assume the same control is available in every YouTube app or for every radio stream. See YouTube TV’s broadcast-delay help.
When the problem appears to follow one stream
If the same stream is out of sync across playback routes while other streams work, report the stream and include the device, app, and playback route. If multiple streams have the same issue on one setup, concentrate first on that device and its audio chain. A YouTube TV community product expert offered the one-channel-versus-many-channel distinction as a troubleshooting clue, not a definitive diagnosis. You can send feedback through the app after reproducing the issue; avoid attributing the fault to the channel without further evidence.
