Yes. YouTube allows up to 10 active streams per channel and up to 3 active streams per stream key, with both limits applying at the same time. Two simultaneous streams are within those documented limits if your channel is eligible and has not already used its available slots. Each feed still needs its own correctly configured live event and encoder or streaming service, and your outgoing internet capacity must support both feeds together.
What YouTube’s limits mean for two simultaneous streams
YouTube Help’s “Get started with live streaming” says there is a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key; the limits apply at the same time. These are ceilings, not a promise that any particular channel or setup can start two streams: count any other active streams against the channel limit, and count feeds using the same key against its limit.
Two feeds can use separate stream keys, or share a key while remaining within the per-key limit. Separate keys make it easier to identify and manage each feed, but the exact encoder configuration depends on the software or hardware you choose. YouTube’s guidance establishes the platform limits; it does not document a universal configuration for running two continuous feeds from every encoder.
Check channel eligibility before configuring either feed
YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube also sets a minimum age of 16 for live streaming. Confirm eligibility and any current channel-specific limits in YouTube Studio before scheduling both events.

Set up two distinct live feeds
YouTube supports live streaming through an encoder, which may be software or standalone hardware. Its guide, “Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder,” explains how to configure an encoder using YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Its simulstreaming guidance says to configure an encoder for a particular live event and repeat the process for additional streams, subject to the limits.
- Create or schedule two live events. In YouTube Studio, set up a separate event for each video/feed so each has its own live destination and is clearly identifiable.
- Copy the destination details for each event. Use the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube for the intended event. Keep keys private; anyone with access to a key may be able to send a feed to that destination.
- Configure two sending feeds. Use an encoder or service capable of outputting both feeds at once. Assign each output to its intended event, and verify that the configuration is supported by the encoder’s current documentation. YouTube describes the workflow but does not give a single two-feed configuration that applies to all products.
- Start and verify the feeds individually. Confirm that each event receives the expected video and audio, then check the live playback for both. Keep an eye on YouTube Studio and the encoder or service for interruptions.
Budget for the combined upload bitrate
The network must send both streams at once, so add their outbound bitrates rather than checking each in isolation. If one feed uses 6 Mbps and the other 4 Mbps, for example, the two feeds need about 10 Mbps of sustained upload before headroom; this is an arithmetic example, not a YouTube-prescribed bitrate. Also include any backup feed or other simultaneous uploads.

YouTube Help’s “Streaming tips” recommends keeping total streaming bitrate within available outbound bandwidth and allowing 20% headroom. Apply that margin to the aggregate demand. A nominal connection speed is not proof of stable upload capacity: congestion, Wi-Fi variation, other devices, and provider fluctuations can cause dropped frames or disconnects. For a local setup, test the actual connection under the conditions in which the streams will run.
Choose where the streams will run
Local encoder on a computer or hardware unit
A local encoder gives you direct control over the feeds, but the machine, encoder software or hardware, power, and internet connection must remain available. Before relying on it for continuous operation, verify that the product can output two separate feeds simultaneously and can recover appropriately from a network or YouTube interruption. YouTube documents encoder-based streaming, but the cited guidance does not verify any particular model’s sustained dual-stream capacity.

Cloud encoder or streaming service
A cloud service can avoid keeping a home computer online, but check that its current plan and configuration support two concurrent YouTube events—not merely two destinations or a single feed. YouTube names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos in its encoder guide; that mention does not establish Gyre’s present-day support for two concurrent feeds, so verify its current capabilities directly.

Plan archives and DVR separately from uptime
A stream staying live for 24 hours does not mean YouTube will preserve a complete 24-hour archive. YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. See YouTube Help’s “Turn on DVR on live streams.”
If you need a complete recording, retain the original uploaded files or make a separate recording plan rather than relying on YouTube’s archive for a continuous stream longer than 12 hours. Treat live continuity, archive completeness, and rewind availability as separate requirements.

Troubleshoot common dual-stream problems
- The second event will not start: Check that the channel is under its 10-active-stream limit and that the key used is under its 3-active-stream limit. Confirm channel eligibility and that the encoder is sending to the correct event’s server URL and key.
- One or both feeds buffer, drop frames, or disconnect: Compare the sum of both configured bitrates with stable outbound capacity, include other uploads, and restore YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. If capacity is insufficient, reduce one or both feed bitrates or move the feeds to a connection or service that can sustain the combined load.
- The wrong video appears on an event: Recheck the mapping between each encoder output, event, and stream key. Stop the mistaken output before restarting with the corrected destination.
- A long stream has no complete archive or usable rewind: This is consistent with YouTube’s caveats for streams longer than 12 hours. Use an independent recording or preserve the original video if a complete copy is required.
- A cloud provider says it supports multiple streams, but the setup is unclear: Ask whether it supports two simultaneous, separate YouTube live events running continuously, and what recovery and monitoring it provides. General support for simulstreaming does not by itself establish this specific capability.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Before looping prerecorded material, make sure you have the rights needed to stream the video and its audio on YouTube. A stream being technically permitted by the concurrency limits does not establish that its content complies with copyright rules or YouTube’s monetization and reused-content policies. Review the applicable YouTube policies for your channel and content before leaving either feed running.
