1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf you want to replay a prerecorded video in a YouTube Live broadcast, the best StreamYard alternative depends on whether you need a limited repeat event, a scheduled one-off, or an unattended channel that stays live. Restream documents paid looping for up to 10 plays and a 40-hour event; OBS can play local media but requires a running computer. For continuous 24/7 playback, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud.
These are different jobs: replacing StreamYard’s browser-based studio is not the same as replacing it just to repeat a video. StreamYard documents scheduled prerecorded broadcasts, but its cited help page does not establish a native repeat-loop setting.
Which StreamYard alternative fits your kind of playback?
| Option | Best for | What the cited documentation establishes |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | An unattended 24/7 YouTube stream of uploaded videos | Runs uploaded videos or playlists from the cloud, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. It is not a camera-based live studio. |
| Restream Upload & Stream | A scheduled prerecorded event that repeats a limited number of times | Looping is paid, with up to 10 plays and a 40-hour maximum event. Playlists do not loop natively. |
| OBS Studio | Local media playback with desktop scene and encoder control | The computer and operator handle playback and system resources. The StreamYard help article describes a virtual-camera workaround, not an end-to-end YouTube setup. |
| StreamYard prerecorded broadcast | A scheduled one-off prerecorded stream within StreamYard | It can start at a selected time while you are offline. The cited page does not document repeat looping. |
| StreamYard with OBS virtual camera | A StreamYard studio workflow that incorporates a looped local video | StreamYard describes it as advanced and warns of potentially substantial CPU, GPU, and RAM use. |
Vendor descriptions characterize Restream as suited to broad distribution and OBS or Streamlabs to desktop scene and encoder control; those are vendor-authored comparisons, not independent test results. Choose based on the workflow you actually need, rather than treating every option as a full studio replacement.
StreamNeo: for an unattended 24/7 YouTube loop
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or make a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; the service loops playback in the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on.

StreamNeo is specifically for looping uploaded video to YouTube; it is not a browser studio for camera broadcasts or guests. To try it, start the free first day.
Restream Upload & Stream: for a bounded repeat event
Restream’s Help Center documents scheduled prerecorded-video looping as a paid feature. Its March 11, 2026 help article sets the maximum at 10 plays and the total event length at 40 hours. This makes it a fit for a repeat event within those limits, not evidence of continuous 24/7 operation.

Looping works with uploaded videos and stream recordings. Restream playlists do not loop natively; its documented workaround is to duplicate videos in the playlist. See Restream video looping for the feature details and limits. The cited documentation does not establish the current price of the paid feature, so check Restream’s current plan details before subscribing.
OBS Studio: loop a video from a computer you keep running
OBS is the local-control option: playback and encoding depend on the computer that is running it, so an unattended stream means leaving that machine and its network connection available. The cited StreamYard help article discusses OBS looping as part of a virtual-camera background workaround. It does not supply a complete, validated OBS-to-YouTube setup recipe or universal bitrate, resolution, and keyframe settings; those should not be inferred from this particular comparison.

StreamYard labels the virtual-camera approach advanced and cautions that it can consume substantial CPU, GPU, and RAM. If you want the loop inside StreamYard’s browser studio, plan for the extra setup and resource load. The official article is StreamYard’s OBS virtual-camera guidance.
YouTube’s encoder guide explains that an encoder converts video to a digital format for streaming. It lists webcams, microphones, and headsets as equipment that can be connected; it does not say those accessories are required to play prerecorded video. Consult YouTube’s encoder guide for YouTube’s current encoder workflow.

StreamYard’s scheduled prerecorded broadcast: a one-off, not a documented loop
StreamYard supports scheduling a prerecorded broadcast to begin at a selected time even when the user is offline. Its Help Center states: “Once scheduled, the video will go live at the selected time—even if you’re not online to start the broadcast.” The YouTube link is created when the announcement post is made, not when the stream is initially scheduled. That is useful for planning a single broadcast, but the cited page does not document a repeat-loop control.
See StreamYard’s prerecorded streaming help for scheduling details.
Choose by event length, control, and studio needs
- Need repeated playback, but not all day: Restream is the clearly documented hosted repeat option here, subject to its paid feature, 10-play cap, and 40-hour total limit.
- Need a stream to keep running 24/7: StreamNeo is the cloud option in this comparison, designed to loop uploaded videos on YouTube without leaving a computer running.
- Need local scene or encoder control: OBS keeps playback local and puts machine, power, and connection responsibility on you.
- Need StreamYard’s studio and guests: StreamYard’s scheduled prerecorded broadcast addresses a scheduled start; its cited documentation does not establish looping. OBS virtual-camera integration is the advanced workaround described by StreamYard.
- Need a sequence of different clips: Restream’s playlist does not natively loop; its documented workaround is duplicating entries. StreamNeo supports playlists for its cloud YouTube stream.
StreamYard’s comparison pages, last updated January 7 and January 10, 2026, respectively, frame the differences around streaming software and local video playback. Treat vendor comparisons as descriptions of their products, not independent performance evaluations: streaming software comparison and local video playback comparison.
Copyright, reused content, and monetization
The cited YouTube encoder guide explains the technical act of starting an encoder stream; it does not answer whether a particular video may lawfully be broadcast, whether a loop complies with YouTube policies, or whether it will be eligible for monetization. Do not assume that owning or having access to a file automatically grants broadcast rights, or that repeating content guarantees monetization. Confirm the rights for every video and check YouTube’s current policy guidance for copyright, livestreams, and monetization before going live. The cited sources do not establish a blanket rule that self-owned looping content is always permitted or monetizable.

Common points of confusion
- “Scheduled” does not necessarily mean “loops.” StreamYard documents scheduled prerecorded starts; its cited page does not establish repeated playback.
- A 40-hour cap is not 24/7 support. Restream’s stated limit describes the maximum duration of a looping event, not continuous operation beyond it.
- A playlist is not automatically a loop. Restream says playlists do not loop natively; duplicating playlist videos is its stated workaround.
- Offline scheduling is not the same as unattended continuous streaming. StreamYard’s scheduling statement is about starting a scheduled broadcast while offline, not an indefinitely repeating stream.
- Prerecorded playback does not require live-presenter accessories. YouTube’s encoder guide mentions connectable equipment, not a requirement to use a webcam, microphone, or headset for a prerecorded feed.
