1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo loop fireplace video with rain sounds on YouTube Live, add the combined video to OBS as a Media Source, turn on Loop, then send OBS’s output to YouTube using the stream’s server URL and stream key. OBS repeats the file; YouTube receives the live feed. You can run OBS on your own computer or use a cloud service if you want the stream to continue with that computer off.
Prepare the fireplace video and rain audio
The simplest setup is one video file that already combines the fireplace visuals and rain audio. If they are separate, add both to OBS and arrange the scene so the video supplies the picture and the audio is audible in the outgoing stream. Use footage and audio you created or have permission to broadcast.
Before going live, play the file through its full duration and check the point where it ends: the picture and sound should restart as intended, without an unwanted black frame, silence, or abrupt transition. These are practical checks, not guarantees about how YouTube will deliver the stream.
Set up a looping Media Source in OBS
- Open OBS and create or select the scene you want to broadcast.
- In the Sources panel, select + and add a Media Source.
- Give the source a clear name, then select the local fireplace-and-rain video file.
- Enable Loop in the Media Source properties and confirm the changes.
- Start playback and verify that the image appears in the OBS preview and the audio meter responds. If you are using separate audio, check that its source is included in the scene and reaches the stream mix.
- Let the source reach the end and confirm it starts again cleanly. Adjust or replace the file if the loop boundary has a gap or an unwanted visual jump.
OBS’s Media Source documentation describes support for common video formats and its Loop option, which replays a file when playback finishes: OBS Media Sources.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or select an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream’s server URL and stream key from YouTube.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Choose YouTube as the service if offered, then enter or connect the server details and stream key as required by the selected setup.
- Keep the stream key private: anyone who has it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Start streaming in OBS. Check the Live Control Room and the YouTube watch page to confirm that the fireplace picture and rain audio are arriving as expected.
YouTube’s encoder workflow requires sending the stream from the encoder to go live. The loop happens in OBS, not in the YouTube viewer: YouTube encoder setup. A broadcast and the audio-video stream that feeds it are distinct resources in YouTube’s API documentation: YouTube Live Streaming API.
Keep the loop running
Run it locally with OBS
With this method, the computer running OBS plays the local file and sends the live feed over its internet connection. It must remain available, powered on, and connected for the stream to continue. Keep an eye on the YouTube feed, especially at the loop boundary and after any network or computer interruption.

Choose a cloud loop service instead
A cloud service changes where the encoder runs; it does not remove YouTube’s channel rules or content-rights requirements. Compare the setup, storage, service terms, and cost for your needs. StreamNeo’s site describes running uploaded videos or playlists in the cloud for YouTube: StreamNeo. Those are vendor claims, not an independent reliability or quality test.
Check copyright and describe the stream honestly
YouTube says: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” A match can cause YouTube to replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. If you have a license to use third-party content, YouTube advises asking the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license by itself may not prevent a live interruption when the channel is not allowlisted. See YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance.

- Confirm that your permission covers both the fireplace footage and the rain recording or music bed.
- Do not assume that ambient sounds are exempt from copyright checks simply because they are not music.
- If the content is prerecorded, describe it as a live stream of ambient content rather than implying that the recording is happening in real time.
Archive and continuity considerations
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That is an archive threshold, not a promise that a stream will stay online uninterrupted or that every longer stream will be available as a replay. Check YouTube’s current guidance before relying on an archive: YouTube live stream archives.
A local OBS setup depends on the computer and connection staying available. A cloud setup moves that operation to a service provider, so review its current storage, plan, and service terms before relying on it for continuous playback.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The video does not appear in OBS: Reopen the Media Source properties and confirm the selected file path is correct and the file plays locally. Select the intended scene and check that the source is visible.
- The picture loops but the rain is missing: Confirm the chosen file contains audio, or verify that the separate audio source is included in the scene and its level meter responds.
- The loop has a pause, black frame, or abrupt sound: Check the file itself at its ending and beginning. The Loop setting repeats the media; it does not smooth a poor edit.
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that OBS is sending, and confirm the server URL and stream key match the stream selected in the Live Control Room. Keep the key private and replace it if you believe it has been exposed.
- YouTube interrupts or replaces the broadcast: Check the Live Control Room for notices and review the rights for both the visual and audio content. Licensed material may still need the channel allowlisted through Content ID.
- The stream stops when you leave: If OBS is running on your computer, that computer and its internet connection need to remain available. For unattended playback without a home computer running, consider a cloud loop service.
Or let it run in the cloud
With StreamNeo, upload your fireplace video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It plays uploaded video rather than going live from a camera, and it streams to YouTube only.
