The Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger (A121D) is a compact, single-port USB-C charger whose screen can show live charging details—and, on supported devices, model and battery information. Those features make it more informative than a basic adapter, but they do not change its main limitation: there is only one port, and the box includes no cable. It is worth considering if you value its display and foldable plug; if you need to charge several devices at once or simply want an inexpensive, no-frills charger, its extras may not justify the choice.
What you get with the Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger
Model A121D has one USB-C port and a maximum output of 45W. Anker lists fixed output profiles of 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V/3A and 20V/2.25A, plus up to 45W Power Delivery (PD) and 3A Programmable Power Supply (PPS). It does not support 5A PPS, so check your device’s charging requirements if that protocol matters.
The charger measures 34 × 35.5 × 40 mm and weighs 75 g, according to Anker. Its plug folds through 180 degrees, a design detail Cadena SER’s reviewer found useful for travel and awkward outlet positions. A 45W maximum can suit many phones and tablets and some light-laptop use, but the wattage alone does not guarantee a particular charging speed: the device, cable, charging protocol, temperature, battery level and usage all affect power delivery.
What the display shows—and which devices get battery information
Anker describes more than 20 screen interfaces, with live details such as power, temperature, charging mode or status, and animations. Cadena SER reported seeing wattage, voltage, current and temperature during its hands-on use, and considered those readouts practically useful. The screen is not a touchscreen; it is a readout, not a way to operate the charger.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Device identification and battery progress are more limited than the general charging display. Anker’s EU listing says model and battery display support covers iPhone 17, 16 and 15 series, excluding iPhone 17e on that page, and iPad 10th generation or later. It says this identification feature is not supported for Samsung or Pixel devices, although they can still charge normally. Anker also says older Lightning iPhones may fast-charge but may not show battery level or model; its support FAQ attributes the battery percentage feature to USB-C communication protocols and says it is supported on iPhone 15 and later.
If an iPhone’s battery level does not appear, that does not by itself mean the charger is failing. Check whether the model is supported and whether the connection uses the required USB-C communication. The screen can still offer charging information even when it cannot identify a device or display its battery percentage.

Charging compatibility: check your device, not just the 45W label
Charging power is negotiated with the connected device. Anker says the device’s internal power management controls the actual charging power, which can vary with temperature, charge level and usage. Its product page gives a specific Samsung caveat: selected Galaxy S23+/S23 Ultra/S24+/S24 Ultra models are limited to 27W maximum with this charger, while Anker lists the Galaxy S25 series as supporting full-speed fast charging. These are vendor compatibility statements, not a rule for every Samsung phone.
- Check the required protocol: A device that needs 5A PPS will not get that support from the A121D, which is specified for 3A PPS.
- Check the device’s power needs: 45W is the charger’s ceiling, not a promise that every connected device will draw 45W.
- Check the display feature separately: Lack of model or battery information on screen does not necessarily prevent charging.
There is no charging cable in the box
Anker lists the box contents as the charger only. If you do not already have a suitable lead, add one to the total cost: Anker recommends USB-C-to-USB-C for newer USB-C iPhones and Android devices, and USB-C-to-Lightning for iPhone 14 and older. Choose the connector that matches your device; one cable type does not fit every iPhone generation.

How it compares with a simpler or higher-capacity charger
The relevant choice is not simply “smart” versus “ordinary.” Decide whether the display, output, port count and included accessories match the way you charge.
| What matters | Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger (A121D) | What to look for in an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Ports | One USB-C port | A multi-port charger if you regularly charge more than one device at once |
| Maximum output | Up to 45W; actual power depends on device and conditions | More output headroom if your device requires it; compare supported profiles, not only the headline wattage |
| PPS | Up to 3A PPS; no 5A PPS | Confirm protocol and current requirements against your device |
| Display | Live charging details; model and battery information only on supported devices | A basic charger if telemetry is not useful, or a model whose display supports the devices you own |
| Size and plug | 34 × 35.5 × 40 mm, 75 g, with a 180-degree foldable plug (Anker specifications) | Compare the listed dimensions, weight and plug design for your bag and outlets |
| Cable | Not included | Check box contents and account for any cable you need to buy separately |
Anker’s own product comparison includes a standard Nano 45W without the smart display, alongside multi-port and higher-output models. The standard version is a natural alternative if you want a simpler charger; a multi-port or higher-output option is a better starting point if you need to charge multiple devices or want more output headroom. Do not assume another model has equivalent charging performance or display compatibility without checking its specifications.

What independent hands-on coverage found
In a review published on July 30, 2026, Cadena SER reported that the screen displayed live wattage along with voltage, current and temperature. Its reviewer liked having those readings, found the folding plug handy for travel and less convenient outlets, and judged 45W adequate for many phones, tablets and light laptops—but not a match for very high-wattage phone charging. The reviewer also wanted a second USB-C port and an included cable. These are that publication’s observations and assessment, not independent controlled performance measurements.
Anker makes additional thermal and size claims, but they should be read as manufacturer claims rather than independently verified A121D results. The company says Care Mode runs “20°C cooler” than international safety limits; its page does not make that a measured comparison against another specific charger. Anker also claims the connected device battery is “5°C cooler” than with other 45W chargers, based on its internal lab test during a full 0–100% charge at 25°C. The product page describes the charger as “47% smaller and 20% lighter” than a standard 30W charger without identifying the comparison model in the examined passage. A laboratory report dated July 28, 2025, hosted by FCCID, names models A2693/B2693, not A121D, so its test data should not be treated as evidence about this charger.

Price and buying verdict
Price varies by market and date. Anker’s EU product page displayed €42.99 when accessed on October 3, 2026; Cadena SER’s July 30, 2026 review referred to €33.99. These are snapshots from different times and contexts, not a like-for-like price comparison. Check the live listing for your region, the exact A121D variant, seller and stock before buying.
The A121D makes the most sense if you want a small 45W charger, value live charging readouts, and own a device that benefits from its supported battery or model display. Skip it if a second port is essential, you require 5A PPS, or you would rather avoid paying for a screen you will not use. Since the cable is separate, include that cost in your decision. If buying, verify the regional listing is for the Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger A121D and that its specifications match your device.
