To enable channel memberships, open YouTube Studio on a computer and go to Earn > Memberships > Get started, then follow the setup prompts and accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if asked. The tab appears only when YouTube considers your channel eligible. A 24/7 schedule does not require a separate switch: memberships are supported on horizontal and vertical live streams, but streaming continuously does not itself qualify a channel.
Check eligibility before looking for the Memberships tab
YouTube’s current monetization overview lists these entry thresholds for memberships: 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public watch hours from long-form videos in the previous 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. These are thresholds, not the complete eligibility test. YouTube’s monetization overview describes the current requirements.
You must also meet YouTube’s fan-funding requirements: be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), be at least 18, and live in a location where memberships are available. YouTube applies additional channel and content rules. For example, a channel set as Made for Kids, or one with a significant number of videos that are Made for Kids or otherwise ineligible, may not qualify. Some music channels, including channels under SRAV contracts, are ineligible. You must accept and comply with the applicable terms, and YouTube may review your channel before making the feature available. See YouTube’s channel memberships eligibility and policies.
Turn on memberships in YouTube Studio
On a computer
- Sign in to YouTube and open YouTube Studio.
- Choose Earn from the left-hand menu.
- Open the Memberships tab. YouTube says this tab appears only if your channel is eligible.
- Select Get started and complete the on-screen setup. Accept the Commerce Product Module (CPM) if YouTube prompts you.
- After activation, create your membership levels and perks. YouTube treats setup and creating levels and perks as successive steps.

In the YouTube Studio mobile app
- Open the YouTube Studio app and choose Earn.
- Open Memberships and follow the setup prompts. On Android, if you do not see a Memberships card, look for Get started in the Memberships section.

Why Memberships may be missing from Earn
- The channel does not meet the requirements: Check the subscriber, upload, and watch-hour or Shorts-view thresholds, then confirm YPP status, age, location availability, and the channel’s content eligibility.
- You have only just joined YPP: YouTube says membership activation may take up to two days while it reviews eligibility. Allow that period before treating a missing tab as a setup fault. See YouTube’s activation guidance.
- The account or channel has a policy restriction: Review YouTube’s membership eligibility and fan-funding terms, including restrictions related to Made for Kids content and certain music channels.
- You are looking in the wrong place: On desktop, check YouTube Studio’s Earn menu; in the Studio mobile app, check Earn > Memberships.
If the requirements appear satisfied and the tab remains unavailable after any YPP review period, consult YouTube’s current eligibility guidance rather than assuming that a 24/7 stream changes the decision.

How memberships work with a 24/7 live stream
YouTube supports memberships on both horizontal live streams and vertical live feeds. Memberships let viewers make recurring monthly payments in exchange for members-only perks. A creator may offer members-only live streams as a perk, subject to YouTube’s rules. That does not automatically make an existing public 24/7 stream members-only: decide which stream, content, or benefits are intended for members and configure them accordingly. YouTube documents live-stream availability in its membership guidance.
There is no special membership switch for continuous streaming. Eligibility still depends on the channel and its compliance with YouTube’s requirements; an always-on schedule alone does not guarantee approval.

Choose perks that comply with YouTube’s rules
Before publishing levels or promising benefits, check YouTube’s current membership policies. Prohibited perks include downloads of content that is already available on YouTube, in-person one-to-one meetings, competitions or sweepstakes where winners are selected at random, and perks directed at or attractive to children. You and any MCN must accept and comply with the Commerce Product Module or applicable prior agreement, YouTube monetization policies, other applicable terms, and laws. YouTube also says fan-funding features are not crowdfunding or donation tools. Read YouTube’s membership policy guidance before offering benefits.
