To repeat a video without restarting your YouTube live stream, add the local file to an OBS scene as a Media Source and enable Loop in its properties. The source starts the file again when playback finishes; keep OBS streaming so the YouTube encoder connection stays live.
Loop one video with OBS Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene you want to use. In the Sources dock, click + and choose Media Source. OBS describes media sources as a way to add audio and video files to a scene in its Sources Guide.
- In the Media Source properties, select the local video file and turn on Loop. OBS documents that this setting replays the file after playback completes. See OBS Media Sources.
- Start the YouTube stream from OBS, or leave it running if it is already live. When the file reaches its end, let the source loop; do not click Stop Streaming in OBS or End Stream in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Preview the output before relying on it live. Confirm that both picture and audio are working, then monitor them during the stream. YouTube recommends previewing the Live Control Room output and monitoring audio and video quality in its live streaming tips.
Keep the video looping without ending the live event
There are two separate things to control: playback of the clip and the encoder’s live output. OBS’s Media Source Loop setting repeats the file. It does not restart the YouTube stream. YouTube’s encoder instructions say, “To end the stream, stop sending content from your encoder.” For scheduled streams, YouTube’s instructions also include an End Stream action in Live Control Room. So, when the clip finishes, leave the encoder output running and let OBS replay the source. End the stream only when you actually intend to take the live event offline.
Repeat several videos as a playlist
For multiple local clips, add an OBS VLC Video source instead of a single-file Media Source. Build the playlist in its properties and enable Loop Playlist; OBS documents that the playlist restarts after it runs out of media.

- VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear in OBS.
- If you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC so the architectures match.

Why a YouTube page in Browser Source is not the simple loop option
OBS Browser Source can load a web page into a scene and provides URL and refresh controls, as described in the Browser Source guide. That documentation does not establish a dedicated, dependable control for repeating a YouTube video. For a predictable loop of a video you have locally, use Media Source; for several local clips, use VLC Video.

Check the loop before you rely on it
OBS documents replay after a file completes, but its Media Source documentation does not promise a gap-free or frame-perfect transition at the loop point. Test the actual file and output before going live, paying attention to the final frames, the restart, and audio continuity. Preview and monitor the YouTube output as it runs.
